Worship: What Happens When We Die? Part 2 / Wellness: Healthy Living Beats Cancer

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  “The first lie ever told to man,” according to Pastor Flemons, “is found in Genesis 3:4, when Satan told Eve ‘…ye shall not surely die.'” In other words: You won’t actually be dead. Sadly, people (especially Bible-believing Christians) are still believing that lie, even though the Bible is very clear that the dead really are dead.

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons shared a study reported and released today by HealthDay News.

For Heaven’s Sake…

People regularly comment about the dead as if the dead are now literally “watching over us” or “gone to be with Jesus,” even when the body is lying right in the casket in front of them. If life continued immediately after death, that would automatically give everyone immortality, Pastor Flemons said. He continued, “Only God has immortality.”

Using companion texts, Pastor Flemons taught the Bible truth of the state of the dead and when immortality is given to man by God. John 6:54 is particularly clear: “… I will raise him up at the last day.” And Martha in response to Jesus showed that she understood this same Bible truth of death and the resurrection: “Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” (Read 1 Corinthians 15:51-55.)

Until resurrection day, Psalm 6:5 and Psalm 115:17 confirm that the dead know nothing. They have no remembrance in death and cannot praise God. To believe otherwise is spiritualism and is not biblical. It is believing, even today, the first lie ever told to man.

For Health’s Sake…

The study revealed that healthy living slashes cancer risks by 45 percent. Healthy living was found to be particularly effective in preventing breast (19-60%), endometrial (23-60%) and colon (27-52%)cancers.

It found also that people who follow cancer prevention guidelines for diet and activity have increased 61 percent. CORRECTION: Researchers also found that people who followed cancer prevention guidelines for diet and activity were up to 61 percent less likely to die from cancer.

“Eating poorly, drinking too much alcohol, carrying too much weight and being a couch potato could account for more than 20 percent of cancer cases, researchers said,” reports Dennis Thompson.

Lead researcher was Lindsay Kohler, a doctoral student in epidemiology at the University of Arizona’s Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health.
