For Heaven’s Sake

Justification is forgiveness for all past sins and receiving a new heart to desire rightdoing. Sanctification is retaining that new heart to persist in rightdoing. It is a process that happens daily through Bible study, prayer and sharing these new experiences. It is the keeping power or staying power to overcome daily. It is saying NO to every temptation to sin.

Pastor Flemons explained the origin and deception of the belief in being saved once for always (“Once saved, always saved.”) without any responsibility to resist temptation to sin. Jesus said that not everyone who says “Lord, Lord” will be saved. Only those who obey God will be blessed and given the right to the tree of life and entrance into the Holy City. (Read Luke 6:46 and Revelation 22:14.)

As the sanctuary essentially points to the ministry of Jesus on behalf of mankind, Pastor Flemons took a moment to explain the name of Jesus, since some believe that Jesus is the name of Zeus, the Greek pagan god. Noting that the Septuagint is the Bible translated into Greek by Jewish scholars, Pastor Flemons pointed out that the name Jesus is not the name of a pagan god.
