Words of Encouragement
Psalm 31:23-24 O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer. Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.
Psalm 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
For Heaven’s Sake…
One hundred years before his birth, Cyrus the Great had been appointed, named and anointed as the deliver of God’s people, the rebuilder of His city. Both Isaiah and Jeremiah prophesied about the release of God’s people from captivity and the rebuilding of Jerusalem. These were the prophecies that Daniel had been meditating on when God gave him a series of visions concerning the rise and fall of nations, including the number of years that God’s people would be in Babylonian captivity. Seventy years had been appointed for their captivity. Cyrus came to the scene just has had been prophesied.
“‘Cyrus, he is My shepherd, and shall perform all My pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.’ ‘I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build My city, and he shall let go My captives, not for price nor reward, saith the Lord of hosts.’ Isaiah 44:28; 45:13. PK 551.2
“The deliverance of Daniel from the den of lions had been used of God to create a favorable impression upon the mind of Cyrus the Great. The sterling qualities of the man of God as a statesman of farseeing ability led the Persian ruler to show him marked respect and to honor his judgment. And now, just at the time God had said He would cause His temple at Jerusalem to be rebuilt, He moved upon Cyrus as His agent to discern the prophecies concerning himself, with which Daniel was so familiar, and to grant the Jewish people their liberty. PK 557.1
“In a written proclamation published ‘throughout all his kingdom,’ Cyrus made known his desire to provide for the return of the Hebrews and for the rebuilding of their temple. ‘”The Lord God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth,’ the king gratefully acknowledged in this public proclamation; “and He hath charged me to build Him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all His people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, . . . and build the house of the Lord God of Israel, (He is the God,) which is in Jerusalem. And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering.’ Ezra 1:1-4. PK 558.1
“‘Let the house be builded,’ he further directed regarding the temple structure, ‘the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be strongly laid; the height thereof threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof threescore cubits; with three rows of great stones, and a row of new timber: and let the expenses be given out of the king’s house: and also let the golden and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple which is at Jerusalem, and brought unto Babylon, be restored, and brought again unto the temple which is at Jerusalem.’ Ezra 6:3-5. PK 558.2”
Cyrus placed a descendant of David, Zerubbabel (also known as Sheshbazzar), as governor over the company returning to Judea. Once the foundation was laid, and comparison to the former structure could be made, loud weeping mingled with great rejoicing. Many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers were greatly saddened by the inferior structure to be built. “Little did they realize the weight of their words of disapproval and disappointment; little did they know how much their expressed dissatisfaction would delay the completion of the Lord’s house. PK 565.1
“The magnificence of the first temple, and the imposing rites of its religious services, had been a source of pride to Israel before their captivity; but their worship had ofttimes been lacking in those qualities which God regards as most essential. The glory of the first temple, the splendor of its service, could not recommend them to God; for that which is alone of value in His sight, they did not offer. They did not bring Him the sacrifice of a humble and contrite spirit. PK 565.2
“It is when the vital principles of the kingdom of God are lost sight of, that ceremonies become multitudinous and extravagant. It is when the character building is neglected, when the adornment of the soul is lacking, when the simplicity of godliness is despised, that pride and love of display demand magnificent church edifices, splendid adornings, and imposing ceremonials. But in all this God is not honored. He values His church, not for its external advantages, but for the sincere piety which distinguishes it from the world. He estimates it according to the growth of its members in the knowledge of Christ, according to their progress in spiritual experience. He looks for the principles of love and goodness. Not all the beauty of art can bear comparison with the beauty of temper and character to be revealed in those who are Christ’s representatives. PK 565.3

For Health’s Sake…
Overcoming disease begins and ends with GOD. He is the true healer. Therefore, the REFRESHING Way regimen of healing begins also with God.
The R is Rely on God. When you don’t stress builds and causes chemical changes in the body that can ultimately kill you. Blood pressure rises. Blood sugar rises. Stress puts the immune system in a holding pattern, and no healing can take place.
The E is Eat Healthy. God gave a diet. It is a plant-based diet that fuels health and healing. All that we need has been given in fruits, nuts, vegetables and herbs. Foods outside of this prescription cause toxins in the system.
The F is Fresh Air. Fresh air contains negative ions necessary for health and healing.
The R is Rest. Getting to sleep nightly by 9:30 allows the body to rebuild during the hours of rest.
The E is Exercise. Walking is one the best exercises. It allows you to perspire, which helps to rid toxins from the body system. It is good for the heart and every organ of the body. You’re getting fresh air and sunlight as well.
The S is Self-Control. It is “abstaining from all things harmful and doing in moderation all things good. God doesn’t want us subsisting on chemicals,” says Pastor Flemons.
The H is H2O, drink water. Water is essential for every system in the body, as the body is seventy percent water. Daily drink half your body’s weight in ounces. Clear urine is the test of the body getting adequate water daily.
The I is In the Sun. Twenty minutes of sunlight per day is adequate for the body to be helped in various ways: to convert the cholesterol in the skin to vitamin D, to help the body better absorb calcium, to help balance hormones and more.
The N is Never Give Up. God wants us to persevere. We are to press toward the mark of full health and healing.
And the G is Give to Others. God wants us to give to others. By this, we are doing God’s service, and it brings healing to the giver. It is the final step in a plan that begins and ends with God.
