Worship: A Faithful Witness / Wellness: Jail Time for Not Vaccinating Her Son

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Few had John’s personal experience with Christ. What he witnessed empowered the words he spoke. Yet, he spoke with a simplicity that gained him access to all classes. (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, reviewed an article about a mother who was jailed because she didn’t vaccinate her child. (Read more below.)

Words of Encouragement

Joshua 1:8   This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Psalm 23:6  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

For Heaven’s Sake…

“The apostle’s life was in harmony with his teachings. The love for Christ which glowed in his heart led him to put forth earnest, untiring labor for his fellow men, especially for his brethren in the Christian church. AA 546.2

“John, realizing that brotherly love was waning in the church, urged upon believers the constant need of this love. His letters to the church are full of this thought. ‘Beloved, let us love one another,’ he writes; ‘for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only-begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.’ SS 548.2

“It is not the opposition of the world that most endangers the church of Christ. It is the evil cherished in the hearts of believers that works their most grievous disaster and most surely retards the progress of God’s cause. There is no surer way of weakening spirituality than by cherishing envy, suspicion, faultfinding, and evil surmising. On the other hand, the strongest witness that God has sent His Son into the world is the existence of harmony and union among men of varied dispositions who form His church. This witness it is the privilege of the followers of Christ to bear. But in order to do this, they must place themselves under Christ’s command. Their characters must be conformed to His character and their wills to His will. AA 549.1

“As a witness for Christ, John entered into no controversy, no wearisome contention. He declared what he knew, what he had seen and heard. He had been intimately associated with Christ, had listened to His teachings, had witnessed His mighty miracles. Few could see the beauties of Christ’s character as John saw them. For him the darkness had passed away; on him the true light was shining. His testimony in regard to the Saviour’s life and death was clear and forcible. Out of the abundance of a heart overflowing with love for the Saviour he spoke; and no power could stay his words.” AA 555.2

This study is based on the Epistles of John and chapter 54, “A Faithful Witness,” in the book The Acts of the Apostles (AA), by Ellen G. White.)

For Health’s Sake…

Several issues rise from such contentions. Are vaccinations healthy? Are there other ways to prevent disease? Shouldn’t religious liberty allow a choice?

Pastor Flemons frequently mentions that toxins are at the foundation of all disease. “Toxins are the real cause of disease,” he says. And he mentioned that it is generally known that mercury and other toxins have been found in vaccinations. Also, the fact that a committee is set up to hear cases of possible side effects from vaccinations is evidence that vaccinations can do harm. And they do. One FB viewer on the morning broadcast wrote, “Our first child DIED within a week of mass vaccinations when I was in the US Army.” Understandably, he and his wife thereafter refused to vaccinate their other children or themselves, even though they faced difficulties at school and work.

Vaccinations are supposed to prevent disease and epidemics. But epidemics can be traced to poor hygiene and overcrowded conditions such as were found on slave ships, says Pastor Flemons. Yet, more than a million people have safely traveled together for years. The Bible carries they story. Hygiene made the difference. The Bible also carries the laws of health they followed. Such laws lead to what we call biblical wellness or the REFRESHING Way lifestyle.

Shouldn’t religious liberty allow for a choice? The obvious answer is a resounding YES!

Romans 13:1, 2 say this:

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

Ellen G. White in the book Christian Service, says it this way:

“We are to recognize human government as an ordinance of divine appointment, and teach obedience to it as a sacred duty, within its legitimate sphere. But when its claims conflict with the claims of God, we must obey God rather than men. God’s word must be recognized as above all human legislation. A ‘Thus saith the Lord’ is not to be set aside for a ‘Thus saith the church’ or a ‘Thus saith the state.’ The crown of Christ is to be lifted above the diadems of earthly potentates.—The Acts of the Apostles, 68, 69{ChS 161.3}
