Worship: The Old and New Covenants / Wellness: Eating Chicken Makes You Resistant to Antibiotics

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Everyone, at least every Christian, knows that Jesus is the Way. The only way to be saved is righteousness by faith in Jesus Christ. It has been so since before the first sin was committed by Adam and Eve. However, what changed was the method of expressing that one has entered the covenant of salvation with Jesus. Prior to the crucifixion, believers in Christ showed it through sacrificial offerings and feast day observations. After the crucifixion, baptism symbolized entering that covenant. The original covenant, because it was ratified at the cross, is referred to as the New Covenant. Yes. The New Covenant existed before the Old Covenant.  (For further details and Bible references, read Chapter 5, “Understanding the Old and New Covenants,” in the book, How Christ Fulfilled the Law, by Pastor Shelem Flemons.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says, “Stop eating chicken!” (Read more below.)

Words of Encouragement

Revelation 3:10  Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Luke 8:15  But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

For Health’s Sake…

Antibiotic-resistant bacteria emerged, evolved and spread among the human population years before humans were ever given antibiotics. Antibiotics had been initially given to livestock and poultry in the 1950s and then to humans in the 1960s. The connection is clear. Now the World Health Organization (WHO) has “called for the end to routine antibiotic use to promote growth and prevent disease in healthy farm animals,” according to the ScienceDaily.com article Pastor Flemons shared with listeners.

But much damage has already been done. According to the article, “Antibiotic resistance kills around 25,000 people a year in Europe, and this is predicted to rise to over 10 million people worldwide by 2050. Many bacteria that cause serious infections in humans like Salmonella, have already developed resistance to common antibiotics.” One obvious answer to this deadly problem is to stop eating the flesh of dead animals.
