Words of Encouragement

1 John 3:8, 9  He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1 John 3:5-7  And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

For Heaven’s Sake…

The court was as large as two ordinary city lots and divided into two squares, with the entrance at the east end. “In the eastern square was the brazen altar and the laver, the altar doubtless being located in its center. In the other square was the sanctuary proper, including the holy place and the most holy place. At the center of this square was the ark in the most holy place. The first of these two squares illustrated the work of Christ on earth for our salvation; the second symbolized His work in heaven.

“These two centers, where were located the altar and the ark, are most significant. The cross of Christ is typified in the altar on which the sacrifices were offered; His throne is typified in the ark. The cross of Christ, represented in the altar, is the center of Christ’s life and of the Christian’s life on earth; the throne, represented in the ark, is the center of His life in heaven and of the Christian’s future life in heaven. Everything on earth centers in, or rotates around, the cross of Christ. Everything in heaven centers in, or rotates around, the throne of Christ.” PTG 45 (PTG 33)

For Health’s Sake…

Physically, fasting gives the body a break, allows the toxins to pass out of the body, and helps bring the body back into balance, including blood pressure and blood sugar. Spiritually, it strengthens your prayer life and ability to practice self-denial. Saying “No” to certain things is empowering. It is an essential element in successfully practicing self-control.

Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, encourages fasting from only one meal to begin with. If necessary, substitute the meal with a smoothie, with the goal of going a full day subsisting only on water. “That will make you light on your feet,” he says. Just remember to eat normally the next day. And by all means, “Don’t pig out!”

Every Wednesday is the day of fasting at Times of Refreshing Wellness Ministry. Pray about it. Join us.
