Worship: White Goat’s Hair / Wellness: McDonald’s Pulls Salads

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  The sanctuary’s roof was made of four coverings that “represent the four phases of the life and work of Christ in the plan of salvation.” The outer covering was made of badgers’ skin, and beneath it was rams’ skins dyed red: both already discussed. Beneath the two was the covering of goat’s hair. Although the Bible is silent on the color of the goat’s hair, research points to it being white. “As white is a symbol of purity and perfection” and since this layer follows the red rams’ skin, “it seems safe to conclude that the white goats hair covering fitly illustrates the truth that Christ was made perfect through suffering. It also represents progressive Christian experience, for ‘though your sins be as scarlet, (represented by the red rams’ skins) they shall be as white as snow.’. . . As a flag of surrender is a white flag, so this white covering was an emblem of complete surrender to God.” Of course, that the layer was of goat’s skin was also fitting, since the goat was the animal chiefly used for the sin offering and on the Day of Atonement, when the sins of repentant Israel was in type blotted out. . . And in the new earth where all is righteousness, the redeemed shall be clothed in the white garments of light.”

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, shared a CNN.com article, which reported McDonald’s pulling salads from 3,000 of its restaurants. The effort is to contain an outbreak of cyclospora linked to their salads that has sickened at least 61 consumers.

McDonald’s has stopped selling salads in 14 mostly midwestern states. Illinois alone reported 90 cases. Cyclospora is also behind an ongoing outbreak linked to the recalled Del Monte Fresh vegetable trays, which are “believed to be responsible for more than 200 illnesses in four states.” Symptoms of the infection “include diarrhea and frequent, sometimes explosive bowel movements, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Those infected can experience loss of appetite, weight loss, stomach cramps or pain, nausea, gas and fatigue. Vomiting, headache, fever, body aches and flu-like symptoms can also occur. The illness can last from a few days to a few months and patients might feel better, then get worse again.”

Pastor Flemons would encourage using natural antibiotics in such cases. But he’d rather you avoid it by growing your own lettuce and making your own salads.

Words of Encouragement

Galatians 3:22  But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

John 16:23, 24  And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. (Also read DA 667.1, 667.3.)
