Worship: Let the Fig Tree Teach Us / Wellness: Dressed to Kill

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Jesus Christ had already listed signs of His Second Coming. Then Jesus said, “Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: so likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors” (Matthew 24:32). In Matthew 21:19, Jesus cursed a fig tree that was full of foliage, because under close inspection He found it was barren of fruit. Immediately, it withered away. (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that dress affects your health. In fact, he said that dress can kill. He said that the body must maintain an even temperature from top to bottom, or the organs will suffer. When the organs suffer, health, even life is at risk. (read more below.)

Words of Encouragement

John 12:26  If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

Matthew 24:12, 13  And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. (Also read 5T 136.1-137.3.)

For Heaven’s Sake…

It was not yet fig season; but in the orchard, one tree “was already covered with leaves.” And Jesus was ready to harvest from it, until He investigated it closely.

“It is the nature of the fig tree that before the leaves open, the growing fruit appears. Therefore this tree in full leaf gave promise of well-developed fruit. But its appearance was deceptive.  . . .  It was a mass of pretentious foliage, nothing more. . . .” Those who live for themselves are like the fig tree: fruitless. “They observe forms of worship, but without repentance or faith. In profession they honor the law of God, but obedience is lacking. They say, but do not. In the sentence pronounced on the fig tree Christ demonstrates how hateful in His eyes is this vain pretense. He declares that the open sinner is less guilty than is he who professes to serve God, but who bears no fruit to His glory.” (DA 581, 584)

Pastor Flemons focused on the necessity of having the genuine character of Christ: bearing the fruit of the Spirit, according to Galatians 5:22-23. Outward adornment, which are like leaves on a tree, is important only as it truly reflects the inner adornment of the “meek and quiet Spirit” of Christ, “which is in the sight of God of great price.” (Read 1 Peter 3:3-4.) Sadly, “Satan invented the fashions in order to keep the minds of women so engrossed with the subject of dress that they could think of but little else.” {4T 629.2

Still, “Leaves are important,” says Pastor Flemons. “Dress reform,” he says “is part of the three angels’ messages.” He explained more about what he meant and further explained the health aspect of it in the wellness segment of the broadcast.

For Health’s Sake…

When the body is naked, especially in its extremities and particularly the legs, the blood pressure is increased. When blood pressure is high, it is a signal that the heart is overworking. The heart is pumping more blood to the extremities, seeking to create a constant temperature throughout the body.

Similarly, the skin has a role in maintaining healthy temperatures throughout the body. That is why the skin sweats in certain areas. When antiperspirant deodorants are used, synthetic clothing are worn, and makeup is applied, the skin is hindered from normal sweating. Thus heat and toxins are locked in those areas. In fact, antiperspirants are “carriers of toxins,” he says. And toxins are in makeup, which tends to be made up with “roadkill,” even “bat manure” in some cases. This is why breast cancers are so prevalent among women, who wear antiperspirant deodorants and synthetic bras. For the same reason, it is dangerous to wear makeup and synthetic fabrics, which can both carry toxins into the body and lock them in. Can it be that cosmetics and fashion have been designed to kill? You decide.

It is far better to make your own, says Pastor Flemons. Make your own deodorant or use the natural rock deodorant, sometimes called a deodorant stone. Apply simple oils, like coconut oil, to nurture the skin. Wear cotton or linen clothing, which allow the body to breathe. Cover the extremities, especially the legs, to maintain an even temperature throughout the body. Promote your own health. It is yours only.
