Worship: For Heaven’s Sake “An appropriate name for the most holy place is the cleansing room, because here on the day of atonement all confessed sin was in figure blotted out, and the sanctuary cleansed. The Bible recognizes three cleansing agencies–water, fire, and blood. Water is used at baptism; fire at last will destroy every trace of sin from the universe; blood makes effective both water and fire. ‘The blood of Jesus Christ. . .cleanseth us from all sin.’ 1 John 1:7.”
“The most holy place, filled with the Shekinah glory, has also been called the glory room.” In Christ’s prayer in John 17, He mentions giving to His followers the glory that had been given to Him by His Father. “Cover with His Life” is a hymn that sums up the progressive walk of the Christian through the sanctuary: from the courtyard to the Most Holy Place:
“Reconciled by His death for my sin, Justified by His life, pure and clean; Sanctified by obeying His word, Glorified when returneth my Lord.”
“If, through the court experience, the righteousness of Christ has been imputed to us, covering all our past sins, and giving us reconciliation and justification; if, in the holy place, His righteousness is now being imparted to us, freeing us day by day from the power of sin which leads to sanctification, and if we remain true and faithful to the end of life, then, and only then, shall we be prepared for glorification, typified in the most holy place.”

Wellness: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, discussed the final of the Top Ten seasonal diseases. Seasonal affective disorder or “SAD is a form of clinical depression that comes and goes in a seasonal pattern. It’s also referred to as ‘winter depression,’ because that’s usually the time when symptoms become more pronounced and noticeable.” It is more serious than the “winter blues” that keep most people indoors, curled up with a book or movie and out of the cold.
People with SAD tend to produce increased levels of melatonin but decreased levels of seratonin and vitamin D. This accounts for their lethargy and depression. Other symptoms include “a decrease in energy, trouble sleeping, a loss of interest in activities, difficulty concentrating, depressive feelings, a decreased sex drive, and appetite or weight gain changes — sugar addiction and cravings for carbs and other comfort foods are also common in people with seasonal affective disorder (5),” according to a DrAxe.com article.
Pastor Flemons went through the REFRESHING Way of biblical wellness principles for healing from SAD. He said that relying on God (R) includes being grateful for God’s blessings, which alone can elevate the emotions out of depression. It may just be a spiritual battle. Eating healthy (E), that is a total plant-based diet, is essential. Eating animal products clog the system and hinder oxygen flow to the brain. And eating sugary foods also hinder circulation and lead to depression. Getting fresh air (F) with an early morning walk exposes you to negative ions in the air that enhances a positive attitude. Resting (R) well by regularly getting to bed by 9:30 p.m., produces energy necessary for coping and helps avoid lethargy. Exercising (E) daily produces energy as well. Self-control (S) will cause you to avoid harmful toxicants and moderately engage in healthy practices. And of course, you must drink plenty of water (H2O). Otherwise, the blood thickens, affects blood circulation, and depresses the mood. Because there is a need to increase vitamin D, getting in the sun (I) daily where possible is critical to overcoming depression. The N and G in REFRESHING each have their own mood-enhancing health benefits. You must never give up (N) and give to others (G).
One more thing, says Pastor Flemons, “Take TOR’s Happiness Tea/Tonic.” It is a special formula for depression, which include the following herbs: St John’s Wort, Kava Kava, Ginkgo Biloba, Gotu Kola, Stevia. Together they bring oxygen and circulation to the brain, and help to correct the chemical imbalances in the brain that lead to anxiety.
