Worship: The Sower – Revival Final Day 7 / Wellness: We’re All Med Missionaries

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  The sower in the parable of the sower in Luke 8 is Jesus Christ. “‘He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man.’ Matthew 13:37. Christ had come, not as a king, but as a sower; not for the overthrow of kingdoms, but for the scattering of seed; not to point His followers to earthly triumphs and national greatness, but to a harvest to be gathered after patient toil and through losses and disappointments. {COL 35.1}

“Christ was treated as we deserve, that we might be treated as He deserves. He was condemned for our sins, in which He had no share, that we might be justified by His righteousness, in which we had no share. He suffered the death which was ours, that we might receive the life which was His. ‘With His stripes we are healed.’” {DA 25.2}

“‘The sower soweth the word.’ Christ came to sow the world with truth. Ever since the fall of man, Satan has been sowing the seeds of error. It was by a lie that he first gained control over men, and thus he still works to overthrow God’s kingdom in the earth and to bring men under his power. A sower from a higher world, Christ came to sow the seeds of truth. He who had stood in the councils of God, who had dwelt in the innermost sanctuary of the Eternal, could bring to men the pure principles of truth. Ever since the fall of man, Christ had been the Revealer of truth to the world. By Him the incorruptible seed, ‘the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever,’ is communicated to men. 1 Peter 1:23. In that first promise spoken to our fallen race in Eden, Christ was sowing the gospel seed. But it is to His personal ministry among men and to the work which He thus established that the parable of the sower especially applies. {COL 37.1}

“Ministry is not sermonizing,” says Pastor Flemons. “It is coming close to people.”

[For additional details, please read DA 416; DA 25; COL 34-37. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 570, “Not I, But Christ.”]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that you don’t have to do hands-on, full-time medical missionary work to be a medical missionary. “We are all medical missionaries!” he says. “It is part of the Gospel commission that we all do this work.” You don’t have to do the healing.

As you learn how to stay healthy or to regain your own health, simply share the information. In this way, you can help someone else prevent disease. Just that alone is being a medical missionary. Without this work being finished, along with the spreading of God’s Word, says Pastor Flemons, Christ cannot come.

Words of Encouragement

2 Peter 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly. (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 37.)

Matthew 5:6  Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 33.)

Worship: The Seed – Revival Day 6 / Wellness: Eating and Drinking to God’s Glory

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  “The seed is the word of God,” says Pastor Flemons, as he read verse 11 from the parable of the sower in Luke 8.

It is very important to take heed to God’s Word and to hide it in our hearts, according to Psalm 119:11. It keeps us from sinning. Hiding God’s Word in our hearts, says Pastor Flemons, is not simply perfect memorization of biblical passages. “God’s Word is long-term guidance with short-term directions,” he says. We must allow God’s Word to be the controller of our lives. It is powerful enough to control the intentions and motives and inclinations of our hearts, if we only allow it. But it takes a full surrender of our lives to Him.

When you fully surrender to God, you are left with peace. For His promise is this: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).

“When we learn the power of His word, . . . Our only questions will be, What is God’s command? and what His promise? Knowing these, we shall obey the one, and trust the other.”  DA 121.2

[For additional details, please read Luke 8:11; Psalm 119:105, 9-11; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:15, 16; 1 SM 21.2 or Manuscript 24, 1886 ; Rev 19:10; 12:17; 1 Corinthians 1:6,7; Job 31:26; John 14:27; and Matthew 10:34. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary and testimonies of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 272, “Give Me the Bible.”]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that to most people it would be a surprise that not only the Old Testament but the New Testament provides health principles. In 1 Corinthians 10:31, we learn one grand principle of health. Everything that we eat and drink must be done to the glory of God.

“If what I’m eating, drinking or doing makes me sick, how can I be eating, drinking and doing things to the glory of God?” says Pastor Flemons. Therefore, review what you’re eating. Is it sugary, rather than whole grains and nuts and fruits? Is it the flesh of animals? Is it dairy? Or are you skipping breakfast, only to eat a huge meal at bedtime? If so, make a change. We must make all the changes we can make, until we can do better, says Pastor Flemons. And God will bless us.

Words of Encouragement

Matthew 24:38  In the days that were before the flood they were … marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark. (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 36.)

1 Corinthians 3:10, 11  According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 32.)

Worship: Good Ground Hearers – Revival Day 5 / Wellness: 5 Needs of the Cell

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  “The good-ground hearer receives the word ‘not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God.’ 1 Thessalonians 2:13. Only he who receives the Scriptures as the voice of God speaking to himself is a true learner. He trembles at the word; for to him it is a living reality. He opens his understanding and his heart to receive it. . . . {COL 59.2}

“A knowledge of the truth depends not so much upon strength of intellect as upon pureness of purpose, the simplicity of an earnest, dependent faith. To those who in humility of heart seek for divine guidance, angels of God draw near. The Holy Spirit is given to open to them the rich treasures of the truth. {COL 59.3}
“The good-ground hearers, having heard the word, keep it. Satan with all his agencies of evil is not able to catch it away. {COL 59.4}

[For additional details, please read Matthew 13:8, 23; Mark 10:30; 2:17; Proverbs 9:10Christ’s Object Lessons, COL 58-61, and listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 316, “Live Out Thy Life Within Me.”]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that to be healthy, each cell needs oxygen, water, nutrition, waste elimination, and a good defense system.

The cell extracts oxygen from fresh air, exercise, and water. A sufficient supply of water is equivalent to your weight divided in half. Drink that amount in ounces. Drink more if you tend to sweat a lot or talk a lot, says Pastor Flemons.

Cells extract the best nutrition from a pure, whole foods, plant-based diet. Waste elimination keeps cells cleansed of toxins that sicken the body. For that, God has provided five major organs and two tissue systems, called the seven channels of elimination. They are the colon, liver, kidney, skin, and lungs, plus lymph and blood. A good defense system protects each cell from the onslaught of toxins, viruses and bacteria.

Luke 16:10 says that when we are faithful in the least, then we will be faithful in much. When we give the cell, which is the smallest structural unit in the body, what it needs, we will be healthy, says Pastor Flemons.

Words of Encouragement

Matthew 24:38, 39  In the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking … and knew not until the flood came and took them all away. (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 35.)

Titus 1:9  Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 31.)

Worship: Soil Preparation – Revival Day 4 / Wellness: Life of the Flesh

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Not only must you plant good seed. The preparation of the soil is essential for a bountiful harvest. “It’s how we receive the Word that determines our salvation,” says Pastor Flemons. “You can’t blame God. You can’t blame the Word.”

“Throughout the parable of the sower, Christ represents the different results of the sowing as depending upon the soil. In every case the sower and the seed are the same. Thus He teaches that if the word of God fails of accomplishing its work in our hearts and lives, the reason is to be found in ourselves. But the result is not beyond our control. True, we cannot change ourselves; but the power of choice is ours, and it rests with us to determine what we will become. The wayside, the stony-ground, the thorny-ground hearers need not remain such. The Spirit of God is ever seeking to break the spell of infatuation that holds men absorbed in worldly things, and to awaken a desire for the imperishable treasure. It is by resisting the Spirit that men become inattentive to or neglectful of God’s word. They are themselves responsible for the hardness of heart that prevents the good seed from taking root, and for the evil growths that check its development.” {COL 56.1}

“The garden of the heart must be cultivated. The soil must be broken up by deep repentance for sin. Poisonous, Satanic plants must be uprooted. The soil once overgrown by thorns can be reclaimed only by diligent labor. So the evil tendencies of the natural heart can be overcome only by earnest effort in the name and strength of Jesus. The Lord bids us by His prophet, ‘Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.’ ‘Sow to yourselves in righteousness; reap in mercy.’ Jeremiah 4:3; Hosea 10:12. This work He desires to accomplish for us, and He asks us to co-operate with Him.” {COL 56.2}

“God operates. We cooperate,” says Pastor Flemons.

[For additional details, please read Christ’s Object Lessons, COL 56, and listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang “Nobody’s Fault But Mine.”]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that the overwhelming tide of disease can be stopped when we follow principles of biblical wellness. The Bible in Leviticus 17:11 says “the life of the flesh is in the blood.” This phrase, “life of the flesh,” is used only twice in the Bible, says Pastor Flemons. Proverbs 14:30 says, “A sound heart is the life of the flesh.”

The blood needs nourishment, and it needs to be slightly alkaline, not acidic. Acidic blood causes disease. The blood must be purified and brought to the safe pH of about 7.2.

The heart must be sound. For the heart to be sound, there must be proper circulation of the blood throughout the body. Poor circulation promotes poor health. That’s why the arms and legs must be covered like the torso: to equalize circulation, says Pastor Flemons. “That’s why we exercise. That’s why we eat a plant-based diet: to clean out those arteries, so the blood can flow freely. That’s why we drink plenty of water: because blood is five times thicker than water. So when you don’t drink enough water, the blood is even thicker and moves sluggishly through those vessels.”

“The entire REFRESHING way lifestyle simply purifies the blood and equalizes the circulation,” says Pastor Flemons. Why? Because the Bible says that the life of the flesh is in the blood. And a sound heart is the life of the flesh.

Words of Encouragement

Genesis 4:21, 22  And his brother’s name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ. And Zillah, she also bare Tubal-cain, an instructor of every artificer in brass and iron. (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 34.)

Isaiah 54:2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 30.)

Worship: Thorny Ground Hearers – Revival Day 3 / Wellness From the Word

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Thorny ground hearers, according to Matthew, Mark and Luke, are those who allow the cares of this world, along  with its deceitful riches and pleasures to choke out the Word of Life. In such cases, no fruit of the Spirit can be brought to perfection.

“Cares, riches, pleasures, all are used by Satan in playing the game of life for the human soul. The warning is given, ‘Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.’ 1 John 2:15, 16. He who reads the hearts of men as an open book says, ‘Take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness and cares of this life.’ Luke 21:34. And the apostle Paul by the Holy Spirit writes, ‘They that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil; which, while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.’ 1 Timothy 6:9, 10.” {COL 55.2}

“Grace can thrive only in the heart that is being constantly prepared for the precious seeds of truth. The thorns of sin will grow in any soil; they need no cultivation; but grace must be carefully cultivated. The briers and thorns are always ready to spring up, and the work of purification must advance continually.”  {COL 50.4}

We must take the time to spend with God to develop and cultivate the fruit of the Spirit, says Pastor Flemons. The heart must be kept under the control of God. And the Holy Spirit must be allowed to work unceasingly to refine and ennoble the character. Only through this unceasing work of the Holy Spirit can we reflect the perfect image of Christ.

[For additional details, please read Matthew 13:7, 22; Mark 4:18,19; Luke 8:14Christ’s Object Lessons, COL 50-55; and Galatians 5:19, 20.  And listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 495, “Near to the Heart of God.”]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, referring to the Bible says that there is always a cause for the curse or disease, or it would not come. Modern medicine often categorizes diseases as idiopathic, meaning that the cause is unknown. But the Bible, through King Solomon and Job, tells us that we must know and search out the cause. (Read Proverbs 26:2; Job 29:16.)

These two principles must be applied to recover from any disease, says Pastor Flemons. This is how we cooperate with God for healing. He says that reviewing the laws of health will help us both trace and identify the cause.

“Disease is an effort of nature to free the system from conditions that result from a violation of the laws of health.  In case of sickness, the cause should be ascertained. Unhealthful conditions should be changed, wrong habits corrected. Then nature is to be assisted in her effort to expel impurities and to re-establish right conditions in the system.” {MH 127.1}

Words of Encouragement

Genesis 6:4  There were giants in the earth in those days. (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 33.)

Proverbs 3:13, 14  Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 29.)

Worship: Stony Ground Hearers – Revival Day 2 / Wellness: 4 Steps to Wellness

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Stony ground hearers receive God’s Word with much excitement. “But there is a problem,” says Pastor Flemons. The Word never took root. As we learn in the parable of the sower and the seed, rocks prevent the Word from taking root. Rocks, says Pastor Flemons, are used to carve idols. Idols are like rocks in the soil. A person who gets excited about God’s Word, but soon loses interest in the Word when it clashes with the lifestyle, has idols that keep God’s Word from taking firm root in the life.

Because of the idols in their hearts they cannot endure the reproach of a Christian. They refuse to be connected with Christianity, if it means they will be called a terrorist, or a fanatic. Sometimes the idols are hidden in the heart. Sometimes you aren’t aware of an idol in your life, because it hasn’t been put to the test yet. Ask God to reveal it or them to you. Anything that is more important to you than Christ is an idol. It could be alcohol, marijuana, or some relationship. If in any moment of your life, Christ cannot smile at whatever you’re thinking, saying or doing, then that is your idol.

[For additional details, please read Matthew 13:5,6, 20, 21; 2 Corinthians 4:7Christ’s Object Lessons, COL 46-50;  And listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons.]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that there are four steps to wellness. He read the steps as outlined in the book Ministry of Healing (p. 127). Basically it says that the first thing you must do is find out the cause of the disease. Next, you must change unhealthful conditions. Then, change wrong habits. Finally, assist the body in its effort to expel toxins and bring back balance in the system.

The way to find out the cause of the disease is to ask questions. “The cause of all disease is toxins,” says Pastor Flemons. But you need to review your lifestyle to understand how toxins are invading your system. How are the getting in? Go through the laws of health and discover which law(s) are being violated.

Use the REFRESHING acronym to help: Have you been relying on God, fully trusting Him? Have you been eating healthy: meaning a total plant-based diet? Or have you been consuming sugar and dairy products that compromise the immune system, and white flour products that are constipating? Have you been getting a continual supply of fresh air? Have you been getting good rest, usually getting to bed by 9:30 pm? Have you been exercising regularly? Have you been exercising self-control by abstaining from all things bad for you and doing only in moderation those things that are good? Have you been daily drinking a sufficient amount of H2O (water), and then drinking only between meals, rather than with your meals? Have you been getting in the sun regularly? Have you been persistently adhering to the laws of health, or are you tending to give up?  You must never give up! Finally, are you giving to others and helping them, if only by sharing what you’ve learned about being healthy?

Unhealthful conditions may include spending time in an environment of poor air quality, like mold or a smoke-filled room. Wrong habits may include drinking with meals, drinking sodas, regularly staying up too late, or going to bed on a full stomach. Assisting the body in its effort to expel toxins from the body is done through cleansing the colon, the liver, the kidneys, the skin, the lymph, and the blood. You may need herbs to assist in the effort.

“The only hope of better things is in the education of the people in right principles. Let physicians teach the people that restorative power is not in drugs, but in nature. Disease is an effort of nature to free the system from conditions that result from a violation of the laws of health.  In case of sickness, the cause should be ascertained. Unhealthful conditions should be changed, wrong habits corrected. Then nature is to be assisted in her effort to expel impurities and to re-establish right conditions in the system.” {MH 127.1}

Words of Encouragement

Psalm 115:4-8   Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands…. They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them. (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 32.)

John 1:29  Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 28.)

Worship: Wayside Hearer – Revival Day 1 / Wellness: 4 Components of Biblical Wellness

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Wayside hearers don’t understand God’s word. Spiritual understanding is not about your IQ. It’s about your surrender to God. When you don’t understand the word of God, it is because of the pleasurable trappings of the world.

“The seed sown by the wayside represents the word of God as it falls upon the heart of an inattentive hearer. Like the hard-beaten path, trodden down by the feet of men and beasts, is the heart that becomes a highway for the world’s traffic, its pleasures and sins. Absorbed in selfish aims and sinful indulgences, the soul is ‘hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.’ Hebrews 3:13. The spiritual faculties are paralyzed. Men hear the word, but understand it not. They do not discern that it applies to themselves. They do not realize their need or their danger. They do not perceive the love of Christ, and they pass by the message of His grace as something that does not concern them.” {COL 44.2}

“When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side” (Matthew 13:19).

[For additional details, please read Matthew 13:1-4, 19Christ’s Object LessonsCOL 43-46Proverbs 4:7; 9:10; Revelation 18:2. And listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 245, “More About Jesus.”]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that there are four components of biblical wellness. They are dependence upon God, cleansing the seven channels of elimination, living a healthy lifestyle, and using remedies found in nature.

Trusting God for healing is of primary importance, whether His instruments of healing are herbal or dietary or lifestyle, or all three. Healing ultimately comes from God. Cleansing the seven channels of elimination assists the body in ridding itself of the toxins that foster disease and death. Herbal remedies might also need to be administered to boost healing. But living a healthy lifestyle pulls it all together and balances it all out in a neat package that we call REFRESHING.

R is Rely on God. E is Eat healthy. F is Fresh air. R is Rest. S is Self-Control. H is H2O, water. I is In the sun. N is Never give up. And G is Give to others.

Words of Encouragement

Hebrews 11:5  By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 31.)

Matthew 22:39  Thou shall love thy neighbour as thyself. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 27.)

Worship: A Surprising Reason God Saves Us / Wellness: Essiac Tea

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  It is not surprising that God saves us because He loves us, says Pastor Flemons. Probably the most famous of all Bible texts tells us that. “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). Still, “God is on trial,” says Pastor Flemons. And God explains it best in Ezekiel 36:21-28:

“But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went. Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.
“For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.”

God saves us for His own name’s sake and honor.

“When we come to him confessing our unworthiness and sin, He has pledged Himself to give heed to our cry. The honor of His throne is staked for the fulfillment of His word unto us.” {COL 148.1}

[For additional details, please read Romans 5:8; Revelation 14:7; Ezekiel 36: 21-27; Christ’s Object LessonsCOL 148.1. And listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 246, “Worthy, Worthy Is the Lamb.”]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says essiac tea, originated by Renee Cassie, is effective against cancer. He knows it to be true, he says, because he has used it to help others. It is used with the TOR’s canswer2tea. Still, he read portion of an article published on healthfreedom.info, which detailed how essiac tea affects cancer. In part he read this:

“It was discovered that one of the most dramatic effects of taking this remedy was its affinity for drawing all the cancer cells which had spread back to the original site at which point the tumor would first harden, then later it would soften, until it vanished altogether or more realistically, the tumor would decrease in size to where it could then be surgically removed with minimal complications.”

Since cancer has a fungal core, says Pastor Flemons, as it dies the tumor can actually become enlarged first. He says also that essiac tea is carried by TORWM. Although it is not shown yet on the products page, it can be ordered by phone: 855-867-4600.

Words of Encouragement

2 Corinthians 3:18  But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.  (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 30.)

Philippians 2:12, 13  Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, . . . work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 26.)

Worship: Recipe for Success / Wellness: The REFRESHING Lifestyle

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  “God has promised success,” says Pastor Flemons. He then shared the biblically guaranteed step-by-step recipe for it found in Psalm 1.

First, you must get good counsel. Then you must walk in that good counsel, by living a godly life and surrounding yourself with godly Christians. Psalm 1:1 says it this way: “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.”

You have to be careful of who counsels you, says Pastor Flemons. If you take the advice of the ungodly, you will find yourself standing in the way of sinners, doing what sinners do and feeling comfortable about it. Next, you will find yourself sitting and keeping company with those who scorn God. It is a downward progression, says  Pastor Flemons. It will end in destruction and eternal loss.

When you make a full commitment to God and delight in His law, then your character will manifest meekness, kindness, and courtesy in and outside of the home. “Meekness,” says Pastor Flemons, “is the humility you maintain when you are done wrong.” And when you are born of the Holy Spirit, you will manifest the fruit of the Holy Spirit upon the heart.

The fruit is inner beauty shining out. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance (self-control). Inner beauty shining out is a powerful part of the recipe for success. The resulting promise is prosperity in every way.

The person who prospers in this way, according to God’s principles, can be assured that  “his leaf shall not wither.” In other words, whatever you do will prosper. Leaves, says Pastor Flemons, represent outer principles that should spring forth from within. When people first see you, there must be a signal that you belong to Christ, that you are a Christian. And at every stage of your faithful Christianity, God will prosper you, as He did with Joseph in Egypt: in Potiphar’s house, in the prison, and as governor of Egypt. In the same way, when you are faithful to God, you will have the favor of God.

[For additional details, please read Psalm 1:1-6; Isaiah 44:3; Matthew 21:19; Adventist Home, AH 64; AH 319Fundamentals of Christian Education, FE 498-500; Messages to Young People, MYP 327Desire of Ages, DA 172; Counsels on Health, COH 205. And listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons.]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, reviewed the 10-point principle of biblical wellness.

The 10-point principle is encapsulated in the acronym REFRESHING. R is Rely on God. It relieves stress that would otherwise kill you. E is Eat healthy. You must eat a plant-based diet; it adds years to our lives. F is Fresh air. A continual supply of fresh air invigorates the blood. R is Rest. You must rest nightly by 9:30. In this way, the body is renewed to function the next day. E is Exercise! Vigorously exercising five times a week helps keep the blood strong and free of toxins. S is Self-control. Avoiding all harmful things and only doing in moderation those things that are good is essential to maintaining a healthy body and mind. H is H2O, drink water. Drinking in ounces half of your body weight in pounds is to be your daily minimum intake. It is essential for all channels of elimination. I is In the sun. Twenty minutes of sunlight is daily recommended. This is how you get your vitamin D, build your immune system, and lock calcium in your bones. N is Never give up. You must persevere. And the G is Give to others. God promises a special blessing to givers.

(For further details, please listen to the recording.)

Words of Encouragement

Genesis 5:24  Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.  (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 29.)

Deuteronomy 10:20 Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 25.)

Worship: First Duty to God and Man / Wellness: One Strong Temptation

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  “Our first duty toward God and our fellow-beings is that of self-development. Every faculty with which the Creator has endowed us should be cultivated to the highest degree of perfection, that we may be able to do the greatest amount of good of which we are capable. Hence that time is spent to good account which is used in the establishment and preservation of physical and mental health. We cannot afford to dwarf or cripple any function of body or mind. As surely as we do this, we must suffer the consequences.” {CTBH 41.2}

Sadly, people who do this and who lack self-esteem tend to want to keep others down too, even to the point of abuse. But God wants, even requires, each of us to develop every faculty “to the highest degree of perfection.”

By all means, says Pastor Flemons, “Don’t be kept in bondage. . . . Don’t stay in an abusive situation. . . . Don’t gamble your life away. . . . Don’t allow yourself to be dwarfed by any means or circumstances.” God wants to deliver us all from anything that will dwarf us for His use.

Therefore, “Every man has the opportunity, to a great extent, of making himself whatever he chooses to be. The blessings of this life, and also of the immortal state, are within his reach. He may build up a character of solid worth, gaining new strength at every step. He may advance daily in knowledge and wisdom, conscious of new delights as he progresses, adding virtue to virtue, grace to grace. His faculties will improve by use; the more wisdom he gains, the greater will be his capacity for acquiring. His intelligence, knowledge, and virtue will thus develop into greater strength and more perfect symmetry.” {CTBH 41.3}

We only have one chance at life. Let us make the very best of it and lay hold onto eternity.

[For additional details, please read CTBH 41. And listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 520, “He Hideth My Soul.”]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, read from Christian Temperance and Bible Hygiene regarding the indulgence of appetite. In part, it read like this:

“One of the strongest temptations that man has to meet is upon the point of appetite. . . . Adam and Eve were permitted to eat of all the trees in their Eden home, save one. The Lord said to the holy pair, ‘In the day that ye eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, ye shall surely die.’ [See Genesis 3.] Eve was beguiled by the serpent, and made to believe that God would not do as he had said. She ate, and thinking she felt the sensation of a new and more exalted life, she bore the fruit to her husband. The serpent had said that she should not die, and she felt no ill effects from eating the fruit,—nothing which could be interpreted to mean death, but, instead, a pleasurable sensation, which she imagined was as the angels felt. Her experience stood arrayed against the positive command of Jehovah, yet Adam permitted himself to be seduced by it. {CTBH 42.2}

“Since the first surrender to appetite, mankind have been growing more and more self-indulgent, until health has been sacrificed on the altar of appetite. The inhabitants of the antediluvian world were intemperate in eating and drinking. They would have flesh-meats, although God had at that time given man no permission to eat animal food. They ate and drank till the indulgence of their depraved appetite knew no bounds, and they became so corrupt that God could bear with them no longer. Their cup of iniquity was full, and he cleansed the earth of its moral pollution by a flood.” {CTBH 43.1}

We must overcome appetite, or it will overcome us. To prevent an early death, eat according to the will of God and avoid the temptation to indulge. When the temptation is the strongest, remember, that is because God is about to do the greatest work in your life, says Pastor Flemons. Don’t succumb to the temptation that you don’t miss your blessing.
