Worship: The Church at Pergamos / Wellness: If Your Brain Could Speak to Your Mouth

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  When the persecution and tribulation that revealed the purity of God’s church subsided, an evil more effective against God’s church began. Compromise began to come into the church. The message to the church at Pergamos warns about the evils of creeping compromise, says Pastor Flemons. Occult practices, it is said, began to come in as well.

To the church at Pergamos, Jesus said, “I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it” (Revelation 2:13-17).

Avoid creeping compromise, therefore, says Pastor Flemons, which he says includes that of women’s ordination. Recounting the history of women’s ordination in the church as an example, he reminded listeners that in the beginning women were permitted to minister, specifically because they were not ordained. For that reason alone, it was said that it was entirely appropriate for women to be in the ministry. That changed. And now a full-out split of belief in this regard is pulling the church apart.

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that if your brain could speak to your mouth, it would order it to stop eating all the refined sugar. Eating refined sugar negatively affects your brain with grogginess and irritability. It can even cause fainting, says Pastor Flemons.

Your brain would tell the mouth to stop eating until you are stuffed and bloated. You can eat more than your body can digest. Eating until you are stuffed causes too much of a burden on the system and robs the brain of blood. The brain would say, “Stop eating meat!” Eating meat is too hard to digest and causes a deprivation of blood in the brain.

The brain would say, “Stop eating so much spicy food.” Eating spicy food causes you to be on edge and hot tempered, which makes it difficult to maintain a calm disposition.
