Worship: Dress Reform, the Conclusion / Wellness: The New Caffeine

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Dress reform (presented in its own mini-series) follows talks by Pastor Flemons on a number of reforms instituted after 1798, when the Dark Ages ended. These reforms include the Bible, the Spirit of Prophecy, the Sanctuary, the Sabbath, Worship, Country Living, as well as Financial, Education, Home, Prophetic, Faith, Unity, and Health reforms in his series “Preparation for the Final Crisis,” which he says is “preparation for Heaven.”

Concluding his talk on dress reform, Pastor Flemons said, “God wants us to witness to people simply by our dress.” In fact, he said, “Christianity should emanate from the inside out. . . Our dress should make the statement that we belong to Him.”

With a personal testimony and using the parable of the fig tree, comparing it to the account of Adam and Eve sewing together fig leaves that revealed their guilt, Pastor Flemons discussed the importance of truly bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit inwardly. He shared related Bible texts. Then he encouraged us to let our light shine through the outward appearance of our clothing. Others are affected, either for good or for evil.

Yes, says Pastor Flemons. “We are our brother’s keepers.” Finally, don’t crossdress. According to Deuteronomy 22:5, it’s an abomination to God.

[For additional details, please read  Psalm 1:1-3; Isaiah 44:3; Galatians 5:22, 23; Matthew 21:19; and Ellen G. White’s Testimonies for the Church, vol. 1, p 421.4 (1T 421.4). Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons.]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that the real new caffeine is safe: “It’s called rest!” Nothing is better at rejeuvenating the body than sleep.

The next best thing, he says, is “sipping on TOR’s Supertonic in grape juice.” Since he travels a lot, Pastor Flemons offered some tips for sustaining energy when you are tired. If you are on the road, pull over to a hotel before 11pm, sit in the lounge, and get a quick catnap. (Just put your head back. Don’t sprawl out!) If that’s not an option, it’s still not wise to pull over on the side of the road or even sleep at a rest stop. It’s too dangerous. If you must, park in a high traffic area nearest the front door and camera for your nap at a QwikTrip or a RaceTrac gas station, for instance.

Drink water. “It is the beverage of life,” he says. Drink orange juice. Roll down the window and get fresh air. But don’t drink coffee and other caffeinated beverages. The caffeine may stimulate you a bit. But at what cost? Caffeine irritates the stomach and dehydrates the system. It helps increase risk of hypertension, because it constricts blood vessels. It irritates the attitude, because it alters the mind: “your thinking and your nerves,” says Pastor Flemons.

Rather, take TOR’s Supertonic in water or grape juice, as Pastor Flemons does, and trust the LORD.
