Worship: A Pharisee Is Sad You See, Part 6 / Wellness: How Stress Affects Female Hormones

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake
There is hope, even for a Pharisee. “Pharisees will drive you out of the church,” says Pastor Flemons. Confessing to having been a Pharisee himself, Pastor Flemons says that he wants to help save other Pharisees, probably especially those in Present Truth. He realizes that his goal is extremely difficult with extremely little hope for great success. Still, in light of the Apostle Paul’s conversion and singular contribution to the church, it is well worth the effort.

Basing his talk on Matthew 23:16-23 and 1 Timothy 6:10, Pastor Flemons discussed the love of money being the root of all evil. He discussed some principles of money and how Pharisees deal with money. He discussed the prejudiced ideas Pharisees have about where tithes and offerings must go. He discussed the thief Judas, as being the treasurer of Christ’s self-supporting ministry. He discussed how Pharisees today, even most people of the conference, would not have supported Jesus Himself, because He was not part of the organized work. Pharisees focus on the money itself and not on the work that the money supports.

Pharisees are not merciful people, even though they themselves have a dark past. They forget that they are only forgiven as they forgive others. Pharisees want you to go down for what you have done. In this, they show that they really don’t have faith, except in money. Woe to the Pharisee.

“Justice, mercy and faith ought to be your financial barometer,” says Pastor Flemons, who provided the acid test to determine a Pharisee, especially for those who think they aren’t. It’s all about money. Pastor Flemons concluded that if you find yourself mad because someone else was blessed, despite your refusal to support a ministry in the hopes that it would fail, you’re probably not headed toward the kingdom.

Pharisees are self-deceived, self-righteous, self-proclaimed Christians that push doctrine to the extent of capital punishment for the erring (thinking they are doing God a favor). Yet they fail to realize when they themselves are in error. A Pharisee is sad, you see.

White’s era.]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that stress often comes from making bad decisions, because of not consulting God first. Stress, because it causes the release of cortisol, affects female hormones, especially the spiking of estrogen, causing breast issues, uterine issues, and ovarian issues, including fibroid tumors and cancer. These are the areas that have estrogen receptors, says Pastor Flemons, who provided a biblical story as an example of how stress affects the female hormonal balance and how its sudden imbalance can literally kill you.

Phineas, the disobedient son of Priest Eli, was married and an expectant father when he died suddenly. His wife was in such great stress from learning that her husband and father-in-law were dead that she suddenly died, as well. Pastor Flemons explained that she most likely hemorrhaged to death from a sudden hormonal imbalance, caused by stress.

If you give your situations to God and trust Him, claiming His promises, stress will be minimized. Embracing a regular exercise program and a plant-based diet will help, as well.

Sharing and Caring Time Sis. Maria read Rev 3:10, 11 and shared passages from “Safeguards for the Future,” Chapter 27, in the book Power of Prayer, by Ellen G. White, p. 59-60. The reading of three quotes reveals 1) how the teachings of Christ must previously have been stored in the mind in order for the Spirit of God to bring them to our remembrance in the time of peril; 2.) how a daily, earnest striving to know God, and Jesus Christ whom He has sent, would bring power and efficiency to the soul; and 3.) how God’s tried and tested people will find their power in . . . the living word. Pastor Flemons answered questions about CBD oil and he clarified Sis. Audrey’s break from the morning broadcast.
