Worship: Compromise Is Like Leaven / Wellness: Two Big Life-Changing Salads Per Day

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake
“Romanism is now regarded by Protestants with far greater favor than in former years. In those countries where Catholicism is not in the ascendency, and the papists are taking a conciliatory course in order to gain influence, there is an increasing indifference concerning the doctrines that separate the reformed churches from the papal hierarchy; the opinion is gaining ground, that, after all, we do not differ so widely upon vital points as has been supposed, and that a little concession on our part will bring us into a better understanding with Rome. The time was when Protestants placed a high value upon the liberty of conscience which has been so dearly purchased. They taught their children to abhor popery, and held that to seek harmony with Rome would be disloyalty to God. But how widely different are the sentiments now expressed.” {GC88 563.1}

Ellen G. White’s 1888 edition of the Great Controversy (also called Spirit of Prophecy, Volume 4) is the book that was to have been placed into the hands of every person, says Pastor Flemons. The founding fathers of America stood to protect people from the policy of popery. The chapter from which the quoted paragraph was taken is titled “The Character and Aims of the Papacy.” But that was in the 1888 edition. The chapter is now titled “Liberty of Conscience Threatened.”

“A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump,” according to Galatians 5:9 and pointed out by Pastor Flemons. “A friend to Rome is disloyalty to God,” repeats Pastor Flemons, who promotes that Present Truth be taught with balance. He explained and provided examples. “Truth is purity,” he says. Without compromise, but with balance, “Truth must be taught.”

Wellness: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says the challenge of eating raw foods can be greatly eased by building your two daily meals around big salads. For one meal, build around a vegetable salad. For the other meal, build around a fruit salad. Just don’t mix the vegetables and fruits in the same meal. Don’t add sugar to your fruit! And make your own deliciously healthy salad dressing! You will find that your blood will tend to be alkaline, which is an unfriendly environment for the development of disease.

To make one deliciously healthy salad dressing, simply blend the following ingredients thoroughly, until very smooth:

  • 2 cups water or soy milk or nut milk
  • 1-1/2 cups sunflower seeds
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp. dill weed
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1-1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp basil

[For more details, please listen to the recording.]

Sharing and Caring Time Sis. Maria encouraged everyone to learn the power of singing praises to God. She shared Psalm 96:1.

Pastor Flemons answered the question regarding whether the Berkey water filter provides alkaline water or distilled. The answer is that it simply filters whatever water is placed in it.

Special Prayer  Please include in your prayers today Listener 1051, who made no personal request.

Please pray for Sis. Boyce, who is celebrating her 94th birthday today. She is affectionately referred to as our mother in Israel.

Remember the unspoken prayer request of each heart.
