Worship: Christians, Colorful Cosmetics, Jewelry, Flashy Clothes #4 / Wellness: How to Eat Healthy #3

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  For those who believe that the wearing of jewelry was for Old Testament times, Pastor Flemons taught the same subject from the New Testament. In 1 Corinthians 10:1-12, the Apostle Paul warns those “upon whom the ends of the world are come” to pay attention to the Israelites and learn valuable lessons for today. Pastor Flemons compared certain verses in 1 Corinthians 10:1-12 to the Old Testament scriptures referred to by the Apostle Paul.

Pastor Flemons says that generally when you see Christians put jeweled pieces on themselves, eventually Jesus tells them to take them off. For they are idols. But when God does it, as when He puts crowns on the redeemed, that is a different story. First, God wants to save us and to perfect our characters to reflect inner beauty, so that jewels will have no more than their rightful emphasis in our minds.

Simplicity is the way God has chosen for the development of Christian character and lifestyle. We must see ornamentation as idolatry, as was shown in the Old Testament, says Pastor Flemons. And we must make their experience our example per Scripture in the New Testament.

[For additional details, please read 1 Corinthians 10:1-9; Numbers 25:1-9; Numbers 21:4-9; Revelation 17:1-4Exodus 32:1-6. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons and hear him sing Hymn 115, “O Come, O Come, Immanuel.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, shared points numbered 13 through 18 for how to eat healthy.

13. Your last meal of fruit with zwieback, crackers or air-popped popcorn should be finished at least two hours before retiring for bed.

14. Eat plenty of dark green leafy vegetables.

15. Eat a salad with a dark green lettuce, some other cooked vegetable, and a plant-based entree. This is assuming that you are eating a vegetable meal at lunchtime. For variety, consult Times of Refreshing Vegetarian Cookbook.

16. Do not eat anything with vinegar, including salad dressing, mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, and other condiments. The cookbook contains recipes to replace these harmful foods. The sunflower seed dressing is highly recommended.

17. Read labels on all your foods so that you will know what you are eating.

18. Do not eat any refined foods including sugar, white flour, and white flour products. Pastor Flemons advises watching his presentation: “The Whiter the Bread, the Sooner You’re Dead,” available on YouTube.

Eating healthy is the second wellness principle embedded in the REFRESHING Way lifestyle. REFRESHING stands for Rely on God. Eat healthy. Fresh air. Rest. Exercise. Self-Control (temperance). H2O (drink water). In the sun. Never give up. Give to others.

Words of Encouragement

Titus 2:1  But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine. (Also read Ye Shall Receive Power, YRP 329.)

1 Corinthians 9:27  But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. (Also read My Life Today, ML 78.)

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Pastor Flemons reviewed the Bethel experience of Jacob and his people, who stripped themselves of their idols–gods of jewelry–and changed their garments to meet with God. “God is a God worth sacrificing for. . . .There will be no moral changes when Jesus comes,” says Pastor Flemons, who referred to Revelation 22:11. All of the changes that are needed must be done now, while there is still time.

Jesus sacrificed all for us. Certainly, at His request, we should be willing to make any changes and endure any sacrifice for Him and to gain salvation for us. In the end, no sacrifice will be too great for what God has in store for us. In fact, Revelation 21:18-21 describes the city of God as pure gold, garnished with all manner of precious stones that are of far greater value than anything on Earth.

Pastor Flemons read Ezekiel 28:13-17, where we are told that in Heaven God placed upon the covering cherub, upon Lucifer’s body, every precious stone. But he was stripped of them because of sin. He who became Satan profaned the wearing of jewelry on Earth. Because of sin, mankind (born in sin and shapened in iniquity) cannot wear jewelry without a change of character. Not until in Heaven can precious stones be safely worn. In Heaven, the redeemed wear crowns of gold (Revelation 4:10). But for now, God is calling for the perfection of inner character, says Pastor Flemons, where nothing is more important to us than God and nothing is placed above Him. That is what He wants our characters to reflect: HIM.

Whatever cannot be given up for Jesus, becomes a “god” in place of GOD. Pastor Flemons says, “It is not worth holding onto something that gives you a sense of outer beauty that hurts your inner character. God wants us to shine from within.”

[For additional details, please read Exodus 33:1-8; 32:1-4; and Ezekiel 28:13-17. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons.]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, shared additional points numbered 7 through 12 for how to eat healthy.

7. Do not eat store-bought meat replacements that are highly processed, high in sodium, and difficult to digest.

8. Do not drink anything with your meals. Drink enough water between meals, and you will not be thirsty during meals. Thirst during meals is a sign of dehydration.

9. Eat a few raw almonds three to four times weekly. Eat only unsalted, raw almonds.

10. Eat two meals a day, unless you do heavy physical labor. Then a third meal may be necessary.

11. Make your third meal to consist of fruit with zwieback, crackers or air-popped popcorn.

12. Always allow at least five hours between meals.

Words of Encouragement

Ezekiel 36:26  A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

John 14:27  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (Also read My Life Today, ML 77.)

Worship: Christians, Colorful Cosmetics, Jewelry, Flashy Clothes #2 / Wellness: How to Eat Healthy #1

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  In the story of Jacob’s call to return to Bethel, there is a lesson about the wearing of jewelry and inappropriate garments for God’s people. God wanted to save Jacob and those with him. Therefore were they called to return to Bethel, the place of their salvation.

Jacob then ordered the people to take off their rings and earrings, which were called gods, and to change their garments. He testified of God’s goodness, and they willingly responded to the order. Jacob hid or buried the “gods” in the ground under an oak tree.

“With deep emotion Jacob repeated the story of his first visit to Bethel, when he left his father’s tent a lonely wanderer, fleeing for his life, and how the Lord had appeared to him in the night vision. As he reviewed the wonderful dealings of God with him, his own heart was softened, his children also were touched by a subduing power; he had taken the most effectual way to prepare them to join in the worship of God when they should arrive at Bethel. ‘And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.’ {PP 205.3}”

Pastor Flemons says, “We should want to return to our Bethel or place of deliverance. Such returning to God and remembering His promises and goodness should be accompanied by changes in what is on our hands (that’s rings) and what is in our ears (earrings). These were called strange gods. Our dress should also change as they changed their garments.”

He said that we need to dress in a more simple way that is godly, so that our characters can shine out for God. He says, “God wants us to shine from within and have that honest, sincere glow of a Christian.”

[For additional details, please read Genesis 35:1-7; Genesis 28:10-22; Genesis 32:24-28; and Ellen White’s Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 205.3. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons and hear him sing Hymn 627, “Jacob’s Ladder.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that he believes in meals over pills and that education is better than medication. Then he shared six points for eating healthy.

First, make breakfast your biggest meal of the day. That’s when your metabolism is the fastest of the day, he says.

2. Do not mix fruits and vegetables together in the same meal. Neutral fruits and vegetables (like avocados, olives, lemons and tomatoes) are the exceptions that “can go either way.”

3. Eat plenty of raw with every meal. In one meal, eat a large salad. In the other, eat largely of fresh fruit.

4. Eat a variety of foods, rather than the same meal day after day. Consult TOR’s Total Vegetarian Cookbook for ideas. For instance, a fruit meal can consist of fruits, nuts and cereal or a dish made of whole grains, like millet, oatmeal, quinoa, couscous.

5. Eat no dairy. Replace dairy products with nut milk, rice milk or soy milk alternatives. Tasty homemade non-dairy alternatives, including butter, for instance, are in the TOR’s Total Vegetarian Cookbook.

6. Eat no meat or animal products, including chicken and fish.

Eating healthy is the second wellness principle embedded in the REFRESHING Way lifestyle. REFRESHING stands for Rely on God. Eat healthy. Fresh air. Rest. Exercise. Self-Control (temperance). H2O-drink water. In the sun. Never give up. Give to others.

Words of Encouragement

2 Corinthians 4:1, 2  Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; but have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. (Also read the devotional book, Ye Shall Receive Power, YRP 327.)

Genesis 39:9  How can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? (Also read My Life Today, ML 76.)

Worship: Christians, Colorful Cosmetics, Jewelry, Flashy Clothes #1 / Wellness: How to Rely on God

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  God is light. The Bible (Psalm 104:2) says that light is His garment. Since man was made in God’s image, Adam and Eve were also robed in light. Indeed, they reflected the light of God.

“. . . A beautiful soft light, the light of God, enshrouded the holy pair. This robe of light was a symbol of their spiritual garments of heavenly innocence. Had they remained true to God it would ever have continued to enshroud them. But when sin entered, they severed their connection with God, and the light that had encircled them departed. Naked and ashamed, they tried to supply the place of the heavenly garments by sewing together fig leaves for a covering. {COL 310.4}

“This is what the transgressors of God’s law have done ever since the day of Adam and Eve’s disobedience. They have sewed together fig leaves to cover the nakedness caused by transgression. They have worn the garments of their own devising, by works of their own they have tried to cover their sins, and make themselves acceptable with God. {COL 311.1}”

The wearing of jewelry, then, is man’s attempt to draw attention to self in hopes of appearing acceptable. Wherever there is gross darkness, God’s people should be noticed, says Pastor Flemons. But it should be their character that must shine out to the world that directs others to God and not to the jewelry that deflects thoughts away from God. “Let your light shine,” says Pastor Flemons, “without robbing God.”

[For additional details, please read Genesis 1:26, 27; 2:25; 3:6, 7; Psalm 104:2; Ephesians 1:18; COL 310, 311; and Matthew 5:16. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons and hear him sing Hymn 309, “I Surrender All.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, explained how to rely on God in a seven-step process.

For one, study your Bible daily for at least a half hour and increase the study time.

2. Study upon waking, and meditate upon Scripture before going to bed.

3. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth. (Read John 16:13.)

4. Have morning and evening family devotions that consist of singing, Bible or inspirational reading, discussion, and prayer.

5. Believe every Bible promise as though it has already happened. But first, be sure to meet the condition.

6. Commit to memory the promises of healing, such as can be found in Exodus 15:26; Psalm 103:1-3; 2 Chronicles 7:14; 3 John 1:2; Jeremiah 30:17; 17:14; Isaiah 57:18, 19; James 5:14, 15.

7. Study the healing miracles of Jesus and draw from them principles based on Christ’s examples. Read John 4:43-54 (nobleman’s son); John 5:1-15 (invalid at the pool of Bethesda); Mark 2:1-12 (man with palsy lowered through roof); Luke 7:1-10 (centurion’s servant); Matthew 9:27-31 (two blind men); Matthew 12:22-32 (blind and dumb demoniac); Mark 7:31-37 (deaf mute at Decapolis); John 9:1-41 (man born blind); Luke 14:1-4 (man with dropsy); Mark 10:46-52 (blind Bartimaeus); Mark 1:29-31 (Peter’s mother-in-law); Mark 1:40-45 (a leper); Mark 3:1-6 (man with withered hand); Matthew 9:32-34 (dumb demoniac); Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 5:25-32, Luke 8:43-48 (woman with issue of blood); Mark 8:22-30 (blind man at Bethsaida); Luke 13:10-17 (woman loosed from her infirmity); Luke 17:11-19 (ten lepers); Jesus’ last act of healing before Crucifixion: Luke 22:49, 50 and John 18:10, 11 (replaces severed ear of Malchus, servant of the high priest).

The Bible is the great book of health and healing, according to Proverbs 4:20-22; 3:8. Pastor Flemons says that if you don’t rely on God, you will have excess stress. It is now known that stress can kill you. Stress affects your muscles. It affects your bones. It affects your brain. It affects your heart. It affects every aspect of your life. But relying on God, gives peace and life.

Words of Encouragement

Acts 5:40, 41  And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. (Also read the devotional book, Ye Shall Receive Power, YRP 326.)

Daniel 6:4  Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. (Also read My Life Today, ML 75.)

Worship: A Time of Rejoicing / Wellness: 4 Benefits of Juicing

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Once the Day of Atonement had ended and the sins of Israel in type had been blotted out, Israel spent the next five days gathering the fruit of the land and preparing for the time of rejoicing. It was called the Feast of Ingathering. After the harvest was past, they assembled for the Feast of Tabernacles. During this feast the Israelites slept in tents, as the name tabernacles indicates. It was an annual seven-day commemoration of Israel’s passage through the wilderness. It was a time of great rejoicing.

Both feasts, Ingathering and Tabernacles, are yet to be anti typically fulfilled. Ingathering in reality is fulfilled when Jesus gathers the faithful ones from Earth: the fruit of the land. The journey to Heaven is the fulfillment of the Feast of Tabernacles. With all of sin forever blotted out, this will be only the beginning of an eternal time of great rejoicing.

[For additional details, please read Leviticus 23, in which is discussed all seven feasts; also Isaiah 65:21-25; and “The Feast of Tabernacles, a Time of Rejoicing” in Path to the Throne of God, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons and hear him sing Hymn 211, “Rejoice, the Lord Is King” and Hymn 27, “Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that when you juice and drink fresh vegetables and fruits, you should really think of it as a feast, rather than a fast. For one, there is no loss of nutrition, even though there is a definite reduction of calories with very likely a loss of unneeded pounds. The juice feast promotes eating healthy and resets the body system. Juice feasting is a tasty way to get in nutrients. And juice feasting floods the body with micronutrients that cannot be gotten any other way. Pastor Flemons says that processed juice cannot be compared to the nutritional value in the juice of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Joe Cross says that juicing is so special because, it “removes the insoluble fiber from vegetables and fruits. While fiber is an established, important part of an overall healthy diet, removing the insoluble fiber allows for increased absorption of specific health promoting phytonutrients including enzymes, while the soluble fiber persists into the juice.  By removing the fibers and consuming fruits and vegetables in liquid form, we are providing a nutrient delivery system to our bodies that allows individuals who would otherwise have difficulty consuming whole vegetables, the opportunity to reap the numerous benefits vegetables have to offer.”

Words of Encouragement

Acts 4:18-20 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. (Also read the devotional book, Ye Shall Receive Power, YRP 325.)

Worship: The Blessing / Wellness: Health in the Old Testament

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  “As ‘in the typical service the high priest, having made the atonement for Israel, came forth and blessed the congregation, so Christ at the close of His work as Mediator, will appear . . . to bless His waiting people with eternal life.’ GC 485. Then will be fulfilled the promise:’Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the City.’ Rev. 22:14.” PTG

“No relationship, no pleasure, item of food, nothing is worth losing your salvation over,” says Pastor Flemons. “You need this blessing.” Let it be said that God pronounced that blessing over us for which all of Heaven has been devoted.

[For additional details, please read Matthew 25:21; Revelation 22:14GC 485; and “The High Priest’s Blessing at the Close of the Day” in Path to the Throne of God, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, shared Bible texts that prove the health message is in the Old Testament. He began with the first one found in the very first book of the Bible: Genesis 1:29. It allows only nuts, grains, fruits, and vegetables to comprise the diet or “meat” for the sustenance of humanity. “Every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat,” it says.

The flesh of only certain animals was allowed for man’s temporary diet. The flesh of clean animals was permitted to be eaten, as were clearly identified in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14. Only their flesh was permitted to be eaten, but not the fat nor the blood. (Read Leviticus 3:17; Leviticus 17:10, 11.)

“At the giving of the manna, just before Israel reached Sinai, the Lord had granted them flesh in answer to their clamors; but it was furnished them for only one day. {PP 377.4}

“God might as easily have provided them with flesh as with manna, but a restriction was placed upon them for their good. It was His purpose to supply them with food better suited to their wants than the feverish diet to which many had become accustomed in Egypt. The perverted appetite was to be brought into a more healthy state, that they might enjoy the food originally provided for man—the fruits of the earth, which God gave to Adam and Eve in Eden. It was for this reason that the Israelites had been deprived, in a great measure, of animal food. {PP 378.1}”

For this same reason, says Pastor Flemons, God is calling man back to the original diet given in Eden.

When health was lost, man was directed to the method for healing. First, the cause had to be searched out and determined. (See Proverbs 26:2 and Job 29:16.) God’s people was to be assured that healing must be found in Him, the balm of Gilead, through nature and in service for God and not primarily in physicians. (Read Genesis 3:18Isaiah 58:5-11Jeremiah 8:22; Jeremiah 30:132 Chronicles 16:12; 2 Kings 1:1-3.)

(For more details, please listen to the recording and also read Genesis 7:2; Genesis 9:2-4“Flesh Foods,” CCh 228.)

Words of Encouragement

Acts 4:13  Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. (Also read the devotional book, Ye Shall Receive Power, YRP 324.)

Worship: Perfecting Holiness / Wellness: Health in the New Testament

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  There is a science to victory over sin and perfecting holiness. As we submit our wills to God’s will, we are empowered by His Holy Spirit to draw close to God, to guard the avenues of our soul, to win Heaven. “Expulsion of sin is the act of the soul itself,” says Pastor Flemons, who quoted from Ellen White’s Desire of Ages (p. 466.4).

We are on the brink of the real Canaan. And like the Israelites on the brink of Canaan, sins of licentiousness and those of freely indulging the passions will be order of the day, unless we make decided efforts to yield our wills to God and participate in our own salvation and the salvation of others.

“Indulgence of appetite is the greatest cause of physical and mental debility, and lies at the foundation of a large share of the feebleness which is apparent everywhere. {CTBH 154.1}
“The controlling power of appetite will prove the ruin of thousands, who, if they had conquered on this point, would have had the moral power to gain the victory over every other temptation. But those who are slaves to appetite will fail of perfecting Christian character. The continual transgression of man for over six thousand years has brought sickness, pain, and death as its fruit. And as we draw near the close of time, Satan’s temptations to indulge appetite will be more powerful, and more difficult to resist. {CTBH 154.2}”
“The only safe course is to touch not, taste not, handle not, tea, coffee, wines, tobacco, opium, and alcoholic drinks. . . . {3T 488.1} The great end for which Christ endured that long fast in the wilderness was to teach us the necessity of self-denial and temperance. This work should commence at our tables and should be strictly carried out in all the concerns of life. The Redeemer of the world came from heaven to help man in his weakness, that, in the power which Jesus came to bring him, he might become strong to overcome appetite and passion, and might be victor on every point. {3T 488.2}

Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons and hear him sing Hymn 493, “Fill My Cup, Lord” and “Whisper a Prayer.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, showed how the same dietary principles in the Old Testament were essentially repeated in the New Testament. The Apostle Paul puts it very succinctly. He says that whatever we do, even when we are eating and drinking, it must be done to honor and glorify God. (Read 1 Corinthians 10:31.)

“If we eat what is known to kill us,” says Pastor Flemons, “how can we be eating to the glory of God?” The Bible links prosperity to wealth in 3 John 1:2. Instead, the world links prosperity to financial wealth. Pastor Flemons told how the world’s wealthiest have been used by Satan to deceive the world with the witchery or sorcery of pharmaceutical drugs. It was prophesied in Revelation 18:23. They, meaning pharmaceutical drugs, trick the body.  They target only the symptoms of disease. They don’t heal your body. They don’t rid the body of the toxins that are the cause of disease. He recommends watching  the video, “The Truth About Cancer,” available on YouTube, which provides a bit of history of pharmaceutics in America.

To eat, drink and do everything to the glory of God requires strict discipline. Christians especially must exercise self-denial and discipline. We all understand that when it comes to winning awards in the Olympics. But what about eternal life? Isn’t winning eternity of much more value than winning the gold of Olympians? Of course it is.

(For more details, please listen to the recording.)

Words of Encouragement

John 3:9-12  Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? (Also read the devotional book, Ye Shall Receive Power, YRP 323.)

Psalm 24:3, 4  Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. (Also read My Life Today, ML 72.)

Worship: A Sabbath of Rest / Wellness: The Origin of Meat Eating

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  On penalty of death, no servile or common work was to be done on the Sabbath, especially in observance of the Day of Atonement. This requirement applied to all Israelites and strangers among them. “The entire thought and time of every true Israelite was to be centered on the services of the day. There was to be no divided heart,–the day of atonement demanded complete and whole-hearted consecration of every power.”

Now, as we are in the real Day of Atonement, “all our time, all our income, all our energy of body, mind, and soul, all our labors of whatsoever nature, should be devoted to the sole purpose of advancing and finishing the work of God. . . . With such a complete consecration to God, with our all on the altar, our offering will indeed be a sweet savor to God.”

We must realize that we represent another Kingdom and reveal God in whatever we do, says Pastor Flemons. He says, “We must get into no enterprise out of harmony with God’s work.” While we must not think that this means that we can’t do any secular work, says Pastor Flemons, “We should not be just out to make money.” Whatever we do must reflect the imminent return of Jesus. This is our privilege. “We are ambassadors for Jesus Christ.”

[For additional details, please read Colossians 2:16, 17; Leviticus 23:25; 16:29; 23:28-32; Review and Herald January 21, 1890, par. 4; and “A Sabbath of Rest” in Path to the Throne of God, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, compared the lifespans of Bible characters living before the worldwide flood to those living after the flood. There is a marked distinction. Those living prior to the flood had an average lifespan of 912 years. The lifespan of those living after the flood dramatically decreased to 317 years, within only the first ten generations. Today, when anyone lives to the age of only 100, it is a great reason to celebrate.

The reason is diet, particularly meat eating. The original diet excluded meat. Only nuts, grains, fruits and vegetables were approved for man’s diet, according to Genesis 1:29. After man sinned, the herbs of the field were added, according to Genesis 3:18. Herbs, even today, have the distinction of healing man’s diseases. Pastor Flemons noted that only these food groups (nuts, grains, fruits, vegetables, herbs) are not linked to major diseases. Meat eating, however, most definitely is.

During the flood all vegetation died. In its place, the flesh (without the blood) of certain animals was temporarily approved for man’s diet for the survival of humanity. Nevertheless, meat remained a common dietary element among those who refused to return to the original diet. Thus the lifespan is what it is today. “If we want to live longer,” says Pastor Flemons, “let’s get back to God’s original diet.”

Words of Encouragement

Acts 2:14-16  But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: for these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel. (Also read the devotional book, Ye Shall Receive Power, YRP 322.)

1 John 2:15, 16  Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (Also read My Life Today, ML 71.)

Worship: Offering Made by Fire / Wellness: Testimonies of Praise

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  One of the four definite assignments required for God’s people on the Day of Atonement included “an offering made by fire.” Two of the four (an holy convocation and an affliction of souls) were already discussed. The morning’s talk centered on the offering made by fire.

Although it was a requirement on the Day of Atonement, it was also a burnt offering made every morning and every evening, symbolizing a “constant dependence upon the atoning blood of Christ.” (PP 352) Especially would this dependence be appropriately included in atonement services. It was expressive of a complete consecration to God. It expressed that the whole body, soul, and spirit were God’s in “thanksgiving and gratitude to Him who gave Himself as a  whole burnt offering.” It was completely consumed.

“Now, in the evening of the Judgment day, at the time of the evening sacrifice, the time when ‘the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is’ 1 Cor. 3:13-15, shall we not return to our first love, once more dedicating to God all that we have and are for the finishing of His work?”

Pastor Flemons read a paragraph from Signs of the Times, that says this: “Those who love their Redeemer will rejoice at every opportunity to share with him in humiliation, shame, and reproach. The love they bear their Lord makes suffering, for his sake, sweet; and they know that if they suffer with him they shall also reign with him in his glory. This experience of suffering for Christ’s sake is absolutely essential to the spiritual life of the Christian. There can be no true, vital godliness without seasons of trial and grief.  We are chosen in the furnace of affliction, and the trial of our faith is more precious than gold.”

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, extended the opportunity for anyone to ask questions during the health segment. In lieu of health questions, listeners (including Sis. Annette, the person for special prayer at #4690, and Sis. Chester) shared testimonies and prayer requests. Upon learning of Sis. Chester’s birthday, Pastor Flemons sang a very special birthday song in her honor.

Special Prayer  Please include in your prayers call-in listener 4690, who requested that we pray that she receives the character of Christ and to walk in His Spirit. Pray for Sis. Chester who is celebrating a birthday today. She wants to be stronger, bolder, more patient and compassionate and better for Christ. Pray for two families of Sis. David, each dealing with a loved one with cancer. One is in stage 4. And pray for a longtime friend of Sis. Audrey, Cindy Haun, who retired and moved to Uganda alone to teach children. She has experienced a recent riot in the area and is in need of our prayers.

Pray also for those undergoing surgery today. Pray for all grieving families (especially widows and widowers). Pray for those fighting for their lives and those fighting depression and other mental conditions. Also pray for people living in areas at risk of being destroyed by hurricanes and tornadoes and other natural disasters, like earthquakes, sinkholes and floods.

Remember to continue praying for the entire TOR broadcast family, that GOD will be free to bless us in the way that HE really wants to in 2018. Thank you!

Words of Encouragement

Acts 2:12  And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? (Also read the devotional book, Ye Shall Receive Power, YRP 321.)

Worship: Atonement Services / Wellness: Baking Soda-Molasses Protocol for Cancer

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake   Divinely appointed services on the Day of Atonement were “as definite as the time” and not only involved the high priest but included “definite assignments for the people.” The people were to hold an holy convocation, afflict their souls, “offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord,” and do no service work. Failure on any point carried the penalty of separation from Israel.

The full day was to be devoted to “deep heart searching and earnest prayer. . . .that every confessed sin might be put away.” They were to be unwavering in their faith. They were to assemble together and to encourage each other with good works that provoke love. Their coming together was not for frivolity. The people were to afflict their souls through abstaining or fasting from merrymaking or doing those things that were for sheer pleasure. All the more must it be for those of us now living in the real Day of Atonement at the closing moments of this Earth’s history. Let us then, watch and be sober. Let us put on “the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation,” according to 1 Thessalonian 5:4-8.

[For additional details, please read Leviticus 23:27-29; Hebrews 10:19-25; Matthew 24:37-39; Luke 12:18-21; 1 Thessalonians 5:4-8; James 5:13; and “The Services,” “An Holy Convocation,” and “Ye Shall Afflict Your Souls” in Path to the Throne of God, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. (PTG 177 original. PTG 239 new edition. PTG 134, 135 online.) Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons and hear him sing Hymn 287, “Softly and Tenderly”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, believes that beginning treatment for cancer with juicing, followed by this ten-point protocol, has strong merit as an alternative to chemotherapy. After explaining cancer and how it is caused by toxins, damages cell walls and prevents the entrance of oxygen but allows in sugars, he then listed details of the protocol. “It stops that whole process,” he says. Because cancer is greedy for sugar, this protocol uses the molasses to carry in the neutralizer: the baking soda.

Steps 1 through 4 involve purchasing items: aluminum-free baking soda, blackstrap molasses, pH test strips and/or litmus paper, and a bottle of potassium. Step 5 involves combining the baking soda and molasses, using 1 teaspoon of each with a cup of water at room temperature or slightly warmed. Do not use the microwave. Step 6 is drinking the combination once a day for 5 days, two hours before or after a meal. Step 7 is to test your alkaline level. Ideally to kill cancer cells, it needs to be at 8.0 to 8.5 (but for no more than 4 to 5 days). The normal ideal is 7.2 to 7.5. “You won’t feel your best at this point in the process,” says Pastor Flemons.

Step 8. On Days 6 and 7, drink the baking soda-molasses combination, using 2 teaspoons of each in a cup of water, twice a day. Expect temporary nausea or queasiness, yellowish stools, tingly lips, oxygen euphoria and mild headaches. They indicate that something good is happening in your body and something bad is happening to cancer. Step 9. On Days 8 through 11, drink the mixture three times per day. Expect diarrhea and weakness. On Days 9-10, expect night sweats. It is a side effect of getting the pH above 8.

If you feel that the side effects are too strong, take the mixture twice a day, rather than three times, and then return to the three dose per day regimen when the side effects lessen. Always listen to your body. Experiment. You may end the protocol on Day 12, if you believe the cancer is dormant. If necessary, you may repeat the protocol.  Step 10. Throughout the protocol, take a high dose of potassium. It should lessen your loss of energy. A high dose, says Pastor Flemons, would be to double whatever is the recommended dosage listed on the bottle of potassium.

“No one protocol is a cure-all,” he says. In fact, he encourages doing many other things, including paying heed to the biblical principles of health and healing, as outlined in the acronym REFRESHING. R is Rely on God. E is Eat healthy, a total plant-based diet. F is Fresh air. E is Exercise. S is Self-Control. H – is H20, water. I is In the sun. N is Never give up. And G is Give to others. Thus the total lifestyle must adapt for healing and for maintaining health.
