Worship & Wellness: The Song of Moses

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  The song of Moses is a song of victory, born from an experience of adversity. (Read Exodus 14.) God brought the Israelites to a place in their journey, where only divine power could bring deliverance. There can be no deliverance, however, without faith. And there is no faith without risk, says Pastor Flemons. Faithfully, Moses obeyed. He put forth his hand over the Red Sea. God parted the sea, and the rest is history. God’s people walked through the Red Sea on dry land. Even today, man’s extremities are God’s opportunities to work miraculously in our lives. Like Moses, let us gratefully allow ourselves to be God’s representatives for deliverance. ~Happy Thanksgiving!~

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Sing! Praise! Give thanks with a merry heart. (Read Exodus 15.) Just like exercise, a grateful heart has benefits of health and healing. “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine” (Proverbs 17:22). ~Happy Thanksgiving!~

Words of Encouragement

Jeremiah 32:42  For thus saith the LORD; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them.

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24  And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

For Heaven’s Sake…

References to Jews in Scripture are not always literal. It is sometimes only symbolic. The Apostle Paul explains that there are spiritual Jews.

Romans 2:28-29  For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly: and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Therefore, reading Revelation 7 has new meaning for everyone, not Jews specifically. “Don’t be deceived into thinking that 144,000 are literal Jews,” says Pastor Flemons. As Revelation 7 describes, there will be twelve gates into the heavenly city, New Jerusalem. John saw three gates each on the east, west, north and south sides of the city. The Bible says each gate would be the gate of entrance for 12,000 people from each of the twelve tribes of Israel: spiritual Israel.

God is waiting for each of us to get ready to be sealed by God, says Pastor Flemons. There is a particular issue that must be faced successfully. There is a particular trial we must pass in order to be sealed. The 144,000, he says, refers to those sealed and living when Jesus returns.

For Health’s Sake…

Pastor Flemons shared the article written by Joe Leech: “11 Proven Health Benefits of Garlic.” He says that Hippocrates actually prescribed “garlic to treat a variety of medical conditions.” Human research has proven the value of garlic for health. Here are some proven benefits of using garlic:

It contains allicin. It is now known that “most of the health effects are caused by one of the sulfur compounds formed when a garlic clove is chopped, crushed or chewed.” Allicin is the compound responsible for both the smell and medicinal potency of garlic.

It is highly nutritious. With very few calories, a 1-ounce (28 grams) serving of garlic is packed with nutrition, including these:

  • Manganese: 23% of the RDA.
  • Vitamin B6: 17% of the RDA.
  • Vitamin C: 15% of the RDA.
  • Selenium: 6% of the RDA.
  • Fiber: 1 gram.
  • Decent amounts of calcium, copper, potassium, phosphorus, iron and vitamin B1.

It boosts the immune system. Garlic was shown to boost the immune system. It was found to reduce the length of cold symptoms by 70 percent. When given garlic, cold symptoms lasted only 1.5 days. Those receiving the placebo suffered an average of 5 days.

It reduces blood pressure. Garlic has been found to have significant impact for lowering hypertension, which is chiefly responsible for the world’s killer cardiovascular diseases: strokes and heart disease.

It improves cholesterol levels. Garlic has been found to lower LDL (bad cholesterol) and total cholesterol.

It contains antioxidants. Garlic’s antioxidant properties, combined with its impact on cholesterol and blood pressure, is believed to help prevent dementia and Alzeheimer’s disease.

It fights toxicity from heavy metals. “At high doses, the sulfur compounds in garlic have been shown to protect against organ damage from heavy metal toxicity.”

High doses of garlic has been shown to rival prescribed medications, according to the article. Additionally, article details reveal that it is safe to say that garlic improves longevity in humans, enhances athletic performance, and may improve bone health. Certainly, it is easy to include in the diet and deliciously enhances food flavors. It is the strong odor of garlic on the breath that causes most people to hesitate in consuming it. Thankfully, chewing the leaves of fresh parsley removes the smell of garlic and frees you from any hesitation in using it in any way.

Pastor Flemons recommends adding chopped garlic to salads, blending a few cloves in water and drinking it or first adding the blend to juice, and finally, taking it in Rocket Fuel. The recipe for rocket fuel is available at this link: http://torwm.org/natural-remedies/rocket-fuel/.

Words of Encouragement

John 5:24  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Philippians 4:7  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

For Heaven’s Sake…

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (John 7:37-38)

Water represents the Holy Spirit. We learn that from this verse:

Isaiah 44:3  For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour out my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring.

What Jesus came to give us is His Holy Spirit, says Pastor Flemons. In fact Jesus promised in Matthew 5, a blessing of being filled with the Holy Spirit if only one would hunger and thirst for righteousness (verse 6).

“In those who possess it, the religion of Christ will reveal itself as a vitalizing, pervading principle, a living, working, spiritual energy. There will be manifest the freshness and power and joyousness of perpetual youth. The heart that receives the word of God is not as a pool that evaporates, not like a broken cistern that loses its treasure. It is like the mountain stream fed by unfailing springs, whose cool, sparkling waters leap from rock to rock, refreshing the weary, the thirsty, the heavy laden.” COL 130.1 (Ellen G. White, Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 130.1)

We can all be filled with the Spirit of God and have an impact in our communities, just as did Jesus, says Pastor Flemons. We will be His witnesses for truth.

“This experience gives every teacher of truth the very qualifications that will make him a representative of Christ. The spirit of Christ’s teaching will give a force and directness to his communications and to his prayers. His witness to Christ will not be a narrow, lifeless testimony. The minister will not preach over and over the same set discourses. His mind will be open to the constant illumination of the Holy Spirit.” COL 130.2 (Ellen G. White, Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 130.1)

For Health’s Sake…

Pastor Flemons discussed how important water is to the healthy function of the joints, bloodstream, cells, digestive system, the colon, and the immune system.

Arthritis is evidence that the body is crying out for water.

Arthritis involves dehydration of the joints. When dehydrated, the joints of arthritic sufferers hold onto water. The result is edema in the joints.

Diabetes is evidence that the body is crying out for water.

Diabetes involves dehydration in the bloodstream. Water is used to flush out excessive sugar and toxins. When the bloodstream is dehydrated, toxins proliferate, causing insulin resistance.

Cancer is evidence that the body is crying out for water.

Cancer involves dehydration of the cells. When the cells are dehydrated, toxins multiply, causing cell poisoning.

Acid indigestion is evidence that the body is crying out for water.

Acid indigestion involves dehydration of digestive juices. When dehydrated, the acids in the digestive system become too strong.

Constipation is evidence that the body is crying out for water.

Constipation involves dehydration of the colon. When the colon is dehydrated, the feces become hard, dry and immobile.

Autoimmune disease is evidence that the body is crying out for water.

Autoimmune diseases involve systemic dehydration. When the immune system is dehydrated, toxins overwhelm the immune system, causing it to rapid fire like an automatic weapon indiscriminately. As a result, it self-destructs.

Worship: The Devotional Life / Wellness: Two Meals a Day

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Predawn prayers are critical to our day, just as they were for Jesus. Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says eating late at night hinders those special early morning moments. But God promises special blessings, if we come to Him early. (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  “Taking only two meals a day might just save your life. It will definitely prolong it,” says Pastor Flemons. A doctor of biblical wellness, Pastor Flemons further discussed the importance of eating two meals a day.  (Read more below.)

Words of Encouragement

2 Peter 1:16  For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

Revelation 21:4-5  And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

For Heaven’s Sake…

This is John Mark’s personal testimony about the prayer life of Jesus:

Mark 1:35  And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

King David understood. He wrote this: “Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation. Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up” (Psalm 5:1-3).

“God wants to hear our voice in the morning,” says Pastor Flemons. It saddens Him for us to wait for a problem or a crisis before we come to Him. To come to Him early in the morning for direction for the day confirms that we want to spend time with Him and honor Him as LORD of our lives. We are not waiting for a crisis to speak to Him. We recognize that we need Him every moment of the day. Looking up “means that we are saying, Lord, I’m trying to find out what you want me to do, what you need me to know today,” says Pastor Flemons.

“Satan will do all that he can to keep you from getting up in the morning and worshipping. … One of the things the devil does is cause us to eat a huge meal late at night so that we feel groggy the next morning, like a truck ran over us. And we just cannot get up in the morning,” says Pastor Flemons. “We need God. And we need Him early in the morning.”

In fact, David said, “Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice” (Psalm 55:17).

“That’s a great thing to do,” says Pastor Flemons. Great men, including Daniel, became great because they spent time with God. (Read Daniel 6:10.) Daniel refused to let the law of the land to deter him for praying to God as usual: three times a day. Kneeling in his chamber with open windows, Daniel prayed and gave thanks to God at the risk of being thrown into a den of lions. If you do the same, like David, like Daniel, like Jesus, you can become a wonderful tool in the hand of God.

For Health’s Sake…

Most people only need two meals per day. Eating more meals places a burden upon the digestive organs and can cause constipation. It’s like putting more fuel in a car than it can hold and process. The exception is those who are involved in heavy physical labor or who have a very high metabolism. Those may need three meals. It is not wrong to eat three meals. It’s just that usually two meals are best.

Eating two meals a day is almost essential for diabetics, however. It helps to lower blood levels. In fact, eating two vegetable meals are recommended. Salads and sprouts and nuts make wonderful combinations with a salad dressing you really like. Some grains are okay, but not too much starch. Diabetics must also exercise, drink adequate amounts of water daily. Herbs that will help have been combined in TOR’s special formula for diabetic sufferers, which is available at this link (http://torwm.org/product/diabetez-teatonic-gold-standard/). Even the spice cinnamon helps diabetics.

However, eating only two meals particularly helps with mental concentration. People who are not very physically involved but who have mentally challenging work have very little need for heavy meals. However, they do need to make special effort to exercise, if only to get a nice stroll after the meal, which helps keep the blood flowing as required.

If a third meal is required, it needs to be light enough to be fully digested within two hours. This allows you go to bed on time. At the same time, it allows the digestive system to rest when the body is at rest. Otherwise, the digestive system will be robbing the brain of energy needed to complete the digestive process. Light meals include those like a smoothie and popcorn or a light salad and crackers or cereal.

Worship: The First. The Last. / Wellness: The Healer

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  “So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many shall be called, but few chosen” (Matthew 20:16). What does this mean? Pastor Flemons explained the last half of the verse yesterday. The first part, he explained today. (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake “It is the spirit that quickeneth,” says Pastor Flemons, referring to John 6:63. A doctor of biblical wellness, Pastor Flemons explains what that really means. (Read more below.)

Words of Encouragement

Jeremiah 9:23-24  Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

Nahum 1:7  The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

***

For Heaven’s Sake…

It is all about the level of commitment to God and His work. It has nothing to do with how long truth has been known. God looks at the level of commitment, not at the length of time we’ve known the truth. Many have known the truth all of their lives, but they have failed in taking advantage of the many opportunities to really get to know Christ in an intimate way. Therefore, they are useless servants.

Others have known the truth for a long time and have advanced in the truth step by step, getting to know Christ intimately over the long years.

Still others have just come to know the truth. But they have fully surrendered to Christ and are fully committed to serving Him in Spirit and in truth. Christ sees them and knows them.

One servant of the LORD says it this way:

“Some of us have had time to get the truth and to advance step by step, and every step we have taken has given us strength to take the next. But now time is almost finished, and what we have been years learning, they will have to learn in a few months. They will also have much to unlearn and much to learn again.” (Ellen G. White, Early Writings, p. 67.2)

Furthermore, she says this about the parable in Matthew 20:1-16:

“Those who have brought into their service the spirit of true sacrifice, of self-abasement, are the ones who will stand first at last. The laborers who were first hired, represented those who have an envious, self-righteous spirit, and claim that, for their services, preference should be given to them rather than to others. The householder said to the one who questioned his right to give more to others than to him, “Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?” I have kept my part of the agreement.” CS 339.2 (Ellen G. White, Counsels on Stewardship, p. 339.2)

Many, like the rich young ruler in Matthew 19:16-30, must face the hard truth about themselves and their relationship to God. They must face the hard lesson of truly detaching from worldly possessions. They think that their possessions are evident of God’s approval. They believe that their good deeds and good intentions qualify them for divine approbation. They do not. Only Christ is righteous. Only Christ is good. Only Christ qualifies.

Those who fully submit to Christ, who forsake all for Him, are His. These commend nothing of themselves to God for favor. They have nothing and know it. They are willing to wear Christ’s robe of righteousness and be fitted for the kingdom. Those who put on Christ are seen as Christ’s. Christ’s true followers are promised this:

Matthew 19:28-30 …Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

For Health’s Sake…

“Quickening is healing,” he says. “The Holy Spirit is the one who quickens.” Any healing that Jesus did was done through the power of the Holy Spirit. This, medical missionaries must keep in mind. “We must have the Spirit of God.”

Quoting from the book Christian Temperance and Bible Hygiene, Pastor Flemons read this:

“The view held by some that spirituality is a detriment to health, is the sophistry of Satan. The religion of the Bible is not detrimental to the health of either body or mind. The influence of the Spirit of God is the very best medicine for disease. Heaven is all health; and the more deeply heavenly influences are realized, the more sure will be the recovery of the believing invalid. The true principles of Christianity open before all a source of inestimable happiness. Religion is a continual well-spring, from which the Christian can drink at will, and never exhaust the fountain.” CTBH 13.2 (Ellen G. White and James White, Christian Temperance and Bible Hygiene, p. 13.2)

Remember this: “The influence of the Spirit of God is the very best medicine for disease.”

Luke 21:17-18  And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. But there shall not an hair of your head perish.

Isaiah 51:3  For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

For Heaven’s Sake…

“Once we are called,” he says, “there is a great work to be done to crucify self so that we can fulfill the mission of the calling. God is going to work with us to prepare us for heaven.” What makes the difference is this: “Are we going to submit to that preparation, or are we going to reject that preparation?”

Inspired commentary adds this:

“Nothing is more essential to communion with God than the most profound humility. ‘I dwell,’ says the High and Holy One, ‘with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit.’ While you are so eagerly striving to be first, remember that you will be last in the favor of God if you fail to cherish a meek and lowly spirit. Pride of heart will cause many to fail where they might have made a success. ‘Before honor is humility,’ and ‘the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.’ ‘When Ephraim spake trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died.’ ‘Many are called, but few are chosen.’ Many hear the invitation of mercy, are tested and proved; but few are sealed with the seal of the living God. Few will humble themselves as a little child, that they may enter the kingdom of heaven.”5T 50.2 (Ellen G. White, Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 50.2)

“There will be no moral changes when Jesus comes,” says Pastor Flemons. We are now daily being changed into whomever we will be when Jesus comes. This is our probation. He shows us ourselves and our need for change. It is up to us to submit to be changed and sealed before Jesus comes.

Revelation 22:11  He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

At that time He will say, “It is done” (Revelation 21:6). He will have finished the work of reviewing all the names of those who are called. He will have determined the chosen–those who can comfortably live with Him in His everlasting kingdom, where neither sin nor affliction will rise a second time. (Read Nahum 1:9.)

For Health’s Sake…

God has provided a storehouse of help for ailing individuals. In that storehouse are cures for all types of “-itises.” Pastor Flemons listed a few: proteolytic enzymes, like bromelain, papain and serapeptase; turmeric; MSM; and colloidal silver. TOR has combined a few of these into one tonic for anti-inflammatory conditions available at this link: http://torwm.org/product/anti-inflammation-tonic-gold-standard/.

Bromelain and papain are powerful anti-inflammatory properties found in pineapple and papaya, respectively. Turmeric has properties similar to golden seal, a powerful anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral herb. Turmeric is less expensive, but it’s just as powerful and has a milder and more pleasing flavor. Also mild and safe to use for arthritic suffers is MSM. But one of the world’s best anti-inflammatory options is colloidal silver, says Pastor Flemons. It is an antibiotic, antifungal, antiviral and safe option; but it can be very expensive. Contact TOR directly for affordable ways to acquire it.

Worship: Stick to it! / Wellness: Now What? Home, After a Wellness Retreat

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Doing the right thing can be exhausting: if you have to constantly struggle against opposing norms. Or you may not be appreciated by the one you are sacrificing for. But that is exactly what happened to Jesus and His disciples and His followers. We should expect the same. In his letter to the Galatians, Paul gave this advice and encouragement. (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  In the healing environment of a wellness retreat, you may feel safe in “test-driving” your new lifestyle. But what about when you get home? How will you do it alone? Words of Encouragement

Luke 21:19  In your patience possess ye your souls.

Psalm 45:7  Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

For Heaven’s Sake…

Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

God must allow us to have options. It helps to grow our characters, says Pastor Flemons. We will never know when the “due season” begins. But we must be patient and persevere. That is when trust comes in. We must simply trust God.

Otherwise, we only make mistakes. We make mistakes because we don’t want to fit into God’s plan for us. We only want to do our own plan. But God wants us to trust Him and submit to His plan. It will work out in our favor, and for everyone, if we continue doing His will.

Before the end of the trial or struggle in your efforts to do good, it might even get worse before it gets better. You might find yourself the object of hatred on every level. This concept of being hated is just to be expected. Admittedly, it is hard to be hated. But if we persist in rightdoing and in gaining victory over sin, no matter what it takes, in the end we will possess the hope of the gospel.

Matthew 10:20 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

“We are heading to a time when those who stand for the gospel will be labeled as worse than terrorists,” says Pastor Flemons. But we must endure it. God may therefore be allowing trials to help us prepare now for this coming persecution.

Matthew 5:11 Blessed are ye when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

2 Timothy 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

For “In your patience possess ye your souls” (Luke 21:19). Using the Refreshing acronyn, Pastor Flemons simply says, “Never give up.”

For Health’s Sake…

  1. 1. Have a plan for your new lifestyle that works with your schedule. Personalize it. If you must, schedule a time to drink water in order to get in the required daily amount.
  2. 2. Clear out bad foods and habits in order to make room for healthy foods and new habits.
  3. 3. Go shopping and get what you need to stay healthy. You must have the basics. Buy organic. It is better than buying unhealthy foods. It may cost more now. But health in the long term is cheaper than any chronic illness. Borrow what you cannot afford to buy: a juicer, for instance. Many have juicers just sitting around gathering dust.
  4. 4. Don’t worry! Don’t stress out! Everything will not always work out perfectly, but God will make up the difference. If it’s not perfect today, it will be better tomorrow. Don’t borrow sorrow for tomorrow!
  5. 5. Do your best. God will do this rest. Never give up!

These suggestions can be applied to any decision for improvements and lifestyle changes.
