Worship: After the Pattern / Wellness: Worst Flu Outbreak in a Decade!

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  God showed Moses a pattern of the original sanctuary in heaven. (Read Exodus 25:9.) Moses was then given detailed instructions for building the copy of it on earth. He was to follow the pattern with exactness. In that is a life lesson for us today. For likewise, God has given in Scripture the pattern for marriage, the pattern handling our finances, and among other things, the pattern for managing our health. However, we too often prefer our own pattern. We do our own thing. And we suffer the results of our own making. And that is the problem. We do ourselves a great disfavor. If we were to allow God’s pattern to control our thoughts, words and actions, we would be empowered to have life and live it abundantly. When Christ comes, there will be no sudden moral change, warns Pastor Flemons. The Bible is our blueprint for healthy living and good success now. (Read Joshua 1:8.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  The U.S. is now ten weeks into the flu season with weeks to go, and already 48 states are reporting widespread flu outbreaks. Schools have closed for days. Already 53 children have died, as of January 27. The dominant strain, called influenza A (H3N2),  is the same “nasty” one associated with “severe disease and death.” According to the CNN.com article, health officials report the highest rate of hospitalizations in nearly ten years. Pastor Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, noted that the same groups hit the hardest are those same groups that tend to get the flu vaccine. He says that rather than take the flu vaccine, take Rocket Fuel. Click the hyperlink and blend it yourself. Its ingredients include fresh garlic, ginger, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and water. Honey is optional. It is a natural flu vaccine and a natural penicillin. Take it to prevent the flu, or take it to get rid of the flu. It is safer than the flu vaccine. And it’s more effective, as it has broad spectrum, where flu vaccines tend to target only one to several flu types. Rocket Fuel strengthens the immune system. The flu vaccine adds toxins. Toxins weaken the immune system and are the root cause of all disease.

Words of Encouragement

Luke 17:3  Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

Luke 17:4, 5  And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

Worship: John, the Beloved / Wellness: When We Mess with Our Body’s Clock

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  John is known as “the disciple whom Jesus loved.” One of only three disciples permitted to witness the transfiguration of Christ and His agony in Gethsemane, John was chosen as the one to care for the mother of Jesus after His crucifixion. Jesus is no respecter of persons. There is a reason John stood out as the beloved. (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says your body is on a rhythmic pattern. Patterns of eating and sleeping are essential to good health. When that rhythm is too frequently disturbed, health is seriously risked. (Read more below.)

(NOTE: Before following any advice given here, please read our disclaimer on this page.)

QTQT  Pastor Flemons briefly warned against eating many mini meals and explained why. Also, hear Annette’s brief but powerful words of wisdom and encouragement.

Special Prayer was offered for call-in listener 1310 (Audrey) and Karriem (travel to aunt’s funeral).

Remember to continue praying also for 3976 (favor regarding property issue, wisdom for course to pursue, and character of Christ), Bro. Rush’s daughter (healing), Karriem (reconciliation), Las Vegas tragedy, disaster challenges in Puerto Rico, 9036 (foot/toes pain), 9275 (November finances) and 1716 (bereavement healing and full surrender of children, family to God), 5-year-old Caleb, Melinda, Carrie and sister (cancer), 92-year-old Stella David, an unnamed listener, and for all others who have requested our prayers. Thank you.

Words of Encouragement

Psalm 51:6   Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

Psalm 103:13, 14  Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; He remembereth that we are dust.

For Heaven’s Sake…

“The confiding love and unselfish devotion manifested in the life and character of John present lessons of untold value to the Christian church. John did not naturally possess the loveliness of character that his later experience revealed. By nature he had serious defects. He was not only proud, self-assertive, and ambitious for honor, but impetuous, and resentful under injury. He and his brother were called ‘sons of thunder.’ Evil temper, the desire for revenge, the spirit of criticism, were all in the beloved disciple. But beneath all this the divine Teacher discerned the ardent, sincere, loving heart. Jesus rebuked this self-seeking, disappointed his ambitions, tested his faith. But He revealed to him that for which his soul longed–the beauty of holiness, the transforming power of love. AA 539.3

“The defects in John’s character came strongly to the front on several occasions during his personal association with the Saviour. At one time Christ sent messengers before Him into a village of the Samaritans, requesting the people to prepare refreshments for Him and His disciples. But when the Saviour approached the town, He appeared to be desirous of passing on toward Jerusalem. This aroused the envy of the Samaritans, and instead of inviting Him to tarry with them, they withheld the courtesies which they would have given to a common wayfarer. Jesus never urges His presence upon any, and the Samaritans lost the blessing which would have been granted them had they solicited Him to be their guest. AA 540.1

“The disciples knew that it was the purpose of Christ to bless the Samaritans by His presence; and the coldness, jealousy, and disrespect shown to their Master filled them with surprise and indignation. James and John especially were aroused. That He whom they so highly reverenced should be thus treated, seemed to them a wrong too great to be passed over without immediate punishment. In their zeal they said, ‘Lord, wilt Thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?’ referring to the destruction of the Samaritan captains and their companies sent out to take the prophet Elijah. They were surprised to see that Jesus was pained by their words, and still more surprised as His rebuke fell upon their ears: ‘Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.’ Luke 9:54-56. AA 540.2

“It is no part of Christ’s mission to compel men to receive Him. It is Satan, and men actuated by his spirit, who seek to compel the conscience. Under a pretense of zeal for righteousness, men who are confederated with evil angels sometimes bring suffering upon their fellow men in order to convert them to their ideas of religion; but Christ is ever showing mercy, ever seeking to win by the revealing of His love. He can admit no rival in the soul, nor accept of partial service; but He desires only voluntary service, the willing surrender of the heart under the constraint of love. AA 541.1

“In the kingdom of God, position is not gained through favoritism. It is not earned, nor is it received through an arbitrary bestowal. It is the result of character. The crown and the throne are the tokens of a condition attained–tokens of self-conquest through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. AA 543.1

“The lessons of Christ, setting forth meekness and humility and love as essential to growth in grace and a fitness for His work, were of the highest value to John. He treasured every lesson and constantly sought to bring his life into harmony with the divine pattern. John had begun to discern the glory of Christ–not the worldly pomp and power for which he had been taught to hope, but ‘the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.’ John 1:14. AA 544.1

“‘Behold,’ he said, ‘what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God. … Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.’ 1 John 3:1, 2.” AA 545.3

This study is based on chapter 53, “John the Beloved,” in the book The Acts of the Apostles (AA), by Ellen G. White.)

For Health’s Sake…

Symptoms that signal alarms to health were noted in an article on body rhythms Pastor Flemons reviewed. Blood pressure increases. Hunger hormones get thrown off. Weight loss control is more difficult. Blood sugar control is beyond control. The stage is set for the chronic diseases commonly seen in today’s society.

In the NPR.org article Allison Aubry also notes, “We humans are time-keeping machines. And it seems we need regular sleeping and eating schedules to keep all of our clocks in sync.” Circadian science research discoveries have just “earned three scientists a Nobel Prize in medicine on Monday.”

Fred Turek, a circadian scientist at Northwestern University, says, “What we’re doing now in medicine is what Einstein did for physics. . . . He brought time to physics. We’re bringing time to biology.”

The eating and resting laws of health, however, are only two of the ten regularly mentioned during TOR’s Worship and Wellness broadcasts. It is best to eat two to three meals a day five hours apart. Rest for the day should begin no later than 9:30 p.m. and no sooner than five hours after the final meal has been taken.

The other eight laws involve relying on God to eliminate or manage stress in the life, getting fresh air, exercising, using self-control, drinking sufficient water, being in the sun daily, never giving up, and giving to others. All affect the health on some level. When all laws are obeyed, all body systems will be in a healthy balance. Such health laws have existed in written form since Bible times. They are the keys to biblical wellness. All ten laws are spelled out in the acronym REFRESHING; for that is an apt description of the healthy life. It’s the REFRESHING Way lifestyle to health.
