Worship: The Character and Aims of the Papacy, Pt 3 / Wellness: The Importance of Enzymes

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake Any apology that excuses the wrongdoing is not a true apology, says Pastor Flemons.

He discussed and read an excerpt of James Warner’s article “Infallible Apologies,” which discussed the recent series of so-called apologies from the popes in succession, including the current pope. They were not real apologies, he says. The church has not taken responsibility for the wrongs done to millions of Bible-believing Christians. The popes, he says, all claim that the atrocities were done by “misguided” members in the name of the Catholic Church, not by any official act of the church itself. Still, many stand in favor of receiving their excuses.

But not everyone is so deceived. Ellen G. White said, “Have these persons forgotten the claim of infallibility put forth for eight hundred years by this haughty power? So far from being relinquished, this claim has been affirmed in the nineteenth century with greater positiveness than ever before. As Rome asserts that she ‘never erred, and nevercan err,’how can she renounce the principles which governed her course in past ages?”  {GC88 563.3}

Nevertheless, she added “True confession is always of a specific character, and acknowledges particular sins.  . . .  The spirit of self-justification originated in the father of lies and has been exhibited by all the sons and daughters of Adam. Confessions of this order are not inspired by the divine Spirit and will not be acceptable to God. True repentance will lead a man to bear his guilt himself and acknowledge it without deception or hypocrisy.”  {SC 38.1} and {SC 40.2}

Pastor Flemons adds that if you apologize with an excuse, rather than to the extent of the injury, you have a papal spirit.

[For further details, read Ellen G. White’s Steps to Christ, SC 38 and 40; James Warner’s “Infallible Apologies”; and Chapter 35 in The Great Controversy: “The Character and Aims of the Papacy,” GC88 563. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 298, “I Lay My Sins on Jesus.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that when you understand the importance of enzymes, you will be encouraged to eat more raw foods. Using a healthline.com article, he discussed what enzymes really do and why.

According to the article, enzymes are a type of protein that “create chemical reactions in the body.” They help “support life” by actually speeding “up the rate of a chemical reaction.” Enzymes help the body “perform very important tasks.” They help build muscles. They help destroy toxins. But they are probably best known for helping the body with “breaking down food particles during digestion.”

Because “an enzyme’s shape is tied to its function,” it is critical that the shape of the enzyme does not change. Therefore, it is important to minimize the enzyme’s exposure to “heat, disease, or harsh chemical conditions.” Each can “damage enzymes and change their shape. When this happens, an enzyme doesn’t work anymore. This affects the body processes the enzyme helped support.”

Pastor Flemons discussed the three main types of digestive enzymes, which “are produced naturally in the body.” He says that you can help your body build enzymes by eating lots of raw foods. You can also juice and drink your raw vegetables and fruits to help your body naturally produce enzymes.

Words of Encouragement

Acts 1:7 It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. (Also read 1 Samuel 28:3-25 Conflict and Courage for June 16, CC 173.)

John 6:57, 58 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.  (Also read With God at Dawn for June 16, WGD 169.)

Worship: The 144,000 and the Great Multitude, Pt 5 / Wellness: Gargling

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake Pastor Flemons believes that the groups that John saw in Revelation 7:4 and 9 are the very same group. That means that the 144,000 is also the great multitude.

For this reason, Pastor Flemons says the 144,000 is not an exact or literal number of living saints at the coming of Christ. He believes the number is symbolic. He says that he believes the number is far greater than 144,000, that 144,000 is mathematically too small a number to total those proclaiming the gospel together with those to be saved and alive when Jesus comes.

Nevertheless, we are encouraged to strive to be one of the 144,000. Exactly who the 144,000 really are is not a requirement to work together to God’s glory. Most important, however, is to develop the character that is required to be counted as one of the 144,000.

[For further details, please read Revelation 7:1-4, 9-15; Revelation 14:1-4; and listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons.]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that gargling has health benefits. Most people probably have heard about gargling with warm salt water for sore throats. However, when you gargle with salt water or an herbal tea or some other liquid, you can have an immediate sense of relief in the throat, says Pastor Flemons. Gargling immediately reduces bacteria in the throat. Toxins are dislodged by gargling. It is a God-given gift. Unless there is some physiological hindrance, everyone can do it. So, before you swallow or spit, try gargling first!

Sharing and Caring Time Sis. Maria shared more powerful selections from the book Power of Prayer, a collection of Ellen G. White writings on prayer. Specifically from Chapter 34, “God Hears Your Prayers,” pages 72 and 73, she emphasized that “every precious promise He has given will be fulfilled to us“; His love and mercy and grace are continually flowing to satisfy our need.  {Pr 291.5}; “The Lord will certainly hear and answer the prayers of His workers if they will seek Him for counsel and instruction.“—(Evangelism, 399.) {Pr 34.2} (The links lead to another source for the same message.)

Sis. Michelle asked about the value of sleep prior to midnight versus those hours of sleep after midnight. (The reference is being searched out and will be shared later.) She also asked about personal details of King James who authorized the King James Version of the Bible.

Special Prayer  Please include in your prayers Listener 5638 (mother in Israel), who asks that we pray for her health (kidneys a bit sluggish) and for Curtis and Jennifer and their family.

Sis. Michelle asks that we pray for a truck driver friend, Chris, who fell asleep driving and is looking to learn a diagnosis of his problem. Also, please pray for her friend Jordan, whose grandmother passed after being prescribed wrong medication.

Listener 2596 has been asked to start a Bible study. Pray for her.

Please pray for Brenda, a new acquaintance of Sis. Audrey.

Worship: Modesty in Dress / Wellness: Importance of Rest

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Dress reform (presented in its own mini-series) follows talks by Pastor Flemons on a number of reforms instituted after 1798, when the Dark Ages ended. These reforms include the Bible, the Spirit of Prophecy, the Sanctuary, the Sabbath, Worship, Country Living, as well as Financial, Education, Home, Prophetic, Faith, Unity, and Health reforms in his series “Preparation for the Final Crisis,” which he says is “preparation for Heaven.”

Modesty in dress, says Pastor Flemons, can be related to sexual purity. Think of modesty as being careful to avoid dressing in a way that accentuates the parts of your body that needs to be seen only by your spouse. Modesty is just plain decency, says Pastor Flemons. It does not mean that you must dress with a continual head covering, for instance. And don’t be gaudy. Don’t attract attention to yourself. Simply be elegant and appropriate.

Always represent Christ. And never waste God’s money on costly array, says Pastor Flemons, who shared a recent experience in a high-end designer store.

[For additional details, please read 1 Timothy 2:9 and listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons.]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that you can add years to your life just by getting to bed on time. In fact, he says that it is important to get rest for a number of reasons. For one, the immune system is supported by rest. But so is every other organ.

Everyone knows, he says, that it is never healthy to burn the candle at both ends. It leads to more stress and achy muscles, more colds and the tendency to get flu, even more problems with digestion. In fact, every system of the body suffers when you don’t get enough rest. You will have more acidity in the system, which leads to all kinds of challenges. It means more free radicals in the system that weaken the immune system. More calcium will be leeched from the bones. Hormones will become more imbalanced.

It is really important to set a good schedule, says Pastor Flemons. Try to get into the bed earlier than 9:30, but 9:30 at the latest, he says. And never go to bed on a full stomach of undigested food, or you won’t be resting anyway. If you must eat fairly close to going to bed, make it very light so that it can digest within a couple of hours. That would be fruit, air-popped popcorn, zwieback crackers, for instance. Hefty meals require typically five hours to fully digest.

One final piece of advice from Pastor Flemons: “Don’t burn that midnight oil. It’s gonna burn out your lights!”

Words of Encouragement

Psalm 106:13-15  They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel: but lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert. And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul. (Also read Conflict and Courage for April 7, CC 103.)

Worship: Four Phases of the Sanctuary / Wellness: Overcome Diabetes

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake What Christ personally went through for us, what He does for us individually and collectively as a church can be segmented into four phases. So can our personal lives. Pastor Flemons discussed or reviewed each.

The church’s four phases can be described as the Hebrew church, the Christian church, the Remnant church, and the church of the firstborn. The Hebrew church is the church of the court, where the sacrifices in the court symbolized Christ. The Christian church, which held Christ as “the true Sacrifice” and their “crucified, risen and ascended Lord,” is the church of the Holy Place. “The Remnant church, the last generation of the church on earth, not only accept Christ as their Sacrifice and their High Priest in the holy place above, but by faith they enter with Him into the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary, where He now acts as Judge. This church may therefore be called the church of the most holy place.”

The church of the firstborn is “the church of the finally redeemed. This church by faith follow their Lord all the way from His sacrificial life in the court of earth, through His work as High Priest in the holy place above, and as Judge in the most holy place, till they ‘come. . .unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem.’ . . . This church . . . may be called the church of the temple eternal.”

Christ clothed His divinity in humanity and ministered among mankind until His crucifixion and ascension. That was phase one. His ministry as High Priest in the Heavenly Holy Place is phase two. His ministry as Intercessor and Judge in the Most Holy Place is phase three. Christ’s return to receive the faithful into Heaven is the final fourth phase.

The personal phases are similarly applied. The outer court experience of justification is phase one. The holy place experience of learning of Christ through studying His Word, praying for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and sharing the Gospel is phase two. Perfecting holiness with sober minds in the Most Holy Place is phase three. Getting to go to our heavenly home is our personal phase four.

[For additional details, please read John 14:6 and “The Four Generations of the Church” in Path to the Throne of God, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. (PTG 201 original. PTG 273, 274 latest edition. Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that diabetes can be reversed with diet and the REFRESHING lifestyle.

He says that a mostly a raw diet will do wonders for normalizing blood sugar. He recommends eating raw salads two times per day, including spirulina and chlorella, sprouts, avocados, garlic, onions, and olives. It is also great to include in your diet string beans or the juice from them, he says. They have natural insulin. Better yet, go on a green juice fast or feast. That will accelerate your results.

TOR has a diabetes formula, called Diabetez. It is available as a tea or a tonic. It contains Dandelion Root, Goldenseal, Raspberry Leaf, Uva Ursi, Elecampane, Juniper Berries, and Stevia. You should also add chromium as a supplement. Diabetics tend to be a bit deficient in chromium.

You are your own primary doctor, says Pastor Flemons.  And you are responsible to God for your own health. With that in mind, he advises finding a physician who will honor managing your health with diet and lifestyle. That is important, because as your blood sugar normalizes, prescription medications should be adjusted as well, until they are no longer needed.

Meanwhile, make lifestyle changes that will support your healing. The REFRESHING lifestyle is highly recommended. It is a 10-point principle for health and healing: The R is Rely on God. It relieves distress that would otherwise kill you. E is Eat healthy. You must eat a plant-based diet; it adds years to our lives. F is Fresh air. A continual supply of fresh air invigorates the blood. R is Rest. You must rest nightly by 9:30. In this way, the body is renewed to function the next day. It helps avoid excess stress, which raises blood sugar. E is Exercise! Vigorously exercising five times a week helps keep the blood strong and free of toxins. S is Self-control. Avoiding all harmful things and only doing in moderation those things that are good is essential to maintaining a healthy body and mind. H is H2O, drink water. Drinking in ounces half of your body weight is to be your daily minimum intake. It is essential for all channels of elimination. I is In the sun. Twenty minutes of sunlight is daily recommended. This is how you get your vitamin D, build your immune system, and lock calcium in your bones. N is Never give up. You must persevere. And the G is Give to others. God promises a special blessing to givers.

Words of Encouragement

Luke 17:32  Remember Lot’s wife. (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 54.)

Thessalonians 2:16, 17  Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 50.)

Worship: The Sabbath and the Judgment / Wellness: Mistletoe, 10 Benefits

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  In the judgment, only professed believers are considered and investigated. They are judged and separated into two groups: the just and unjust. They are either righteous or unrighteous. A person is not a person of God, unless he or she is in the sight of God, says Pastor Flemons.

He directed us to Revelation 3, which reveals two churches symbolic of two types of people or believers. Those who have kept the word of God and the word of His patience and who have not denied His name are one group. This includes honoring His Sabbath, according to the fourth commandment and manifesting His name, meaning character, in their behavior. The other group consists of those who say that they are “Jews” but are not. They believe that they are “rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing.” They don’t realize that they are “wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.” Both groups claim to be believers: God’s people. God, however, declares those who really are His people.

“We are now in the last hour of the Judgment. It is the hour when Isaiah’s prophecy, ‘Seal the law among My disciples,’ Isa. 8:16, is being fulfilled. It is the time when 144,000 who will be living on the earth when Jesus comes, will be sealed, ‘having the Father’s name (His sign or signature) written in their foreheads,’ Rev. 14:1 – reflecting His righteous character in their very countenances. No mere nominal profession will answer now. The Sabbath of the Lord is a special test, – a test of loyalty to God, – even to those who profess to be Sabbath keepers. Are we meeting the test? Or are we grieving the Holy Spirit of God ‘whereby’ we are ‘sealed unto the day of redemption’? Eph. 4:30.

“Israel of old failed, but now in this final Judgment hour, the Lord has ‘set His hand again the second time to recover the remnant of His people.’ Isa. 11:11,12. As the loud cry of the third angel goes forth, proclaiming the Sabbath more fully, then will be fulfilled the prophecy: “‘We will lift up an ensign to the nations from far,’ calling them to the decisive battle between truth and error, between Christ and Satan, and ‘they shall come with speed swiftly,’ Isa. 5:26, ‘and build in the temple of the Lord.’ Zech. 6:15. Is not this the time for every true child of God to gather within the second veil, and take his stand under the ensign of Christ [the Sabbath]? Those who do this will receive the promised blessing: ‘Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the City.’ Rev. 22:14.

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, discussed ten benefits of the “unusual herb” mistletoe, as outlined in an organicfacts.net article. It is important to note that typically, the mistletoe found in America is toxic, as well as some of its species and varieties found elsewhere. However, there are “more than 900 species belonging to 73 different genera, so there is quite a bit of diversity.”

Within its diversity however, mistletoe has been found to have an incredible amount of health benefits: “including its ability to treat cancer in a number of ways, prevent diabetes, soothe respiratory distress, calm the nervous system, lower blood pressure, promote good sleep, eliminate inflammation, increase immune system activity, reduce snoring, and decrease menstrual pain.”

“Unlike many herbal extracts, it is commonly given in the form of injection, but it can also be used in the form of tinctures or teas.” For instance, a tea made of mistletoe can help regulate sleep and ease menstrual discomfort. A strong brew of it calms “muscle spasms and inflammation, helping to release that tension and cramping.” Only one cup of the tea before bedtime “means a much lower chance of snoring while you sleep.” The article claims “research has also directly linked its extract with anti-cancer activity, and in Europe, more than 50% of cancer patients now integrate some element of it in their treatment regimen.” Mistletoe in tincture form eliminates inflammation and “does wonders to ease that pain and increase the range of motion as you age. Internally, this anti-inflammatory capacity can be good for digestion and gastrointestinal issues as well.”

The article cautions, “There are still some risks involved with it, particularly with using untreated or improperly prepared mistletoe. However, if you use a reliable and trusted herbalist or natural practitioner, then you can enjoy the wide range of benefits provided by this unusual herb.”

Words of Encouragement

Hebrews 2:14, 15  Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. Proverbs 2:3-5  If thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; if thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. (Also read My Life Today, ML 108.)
