How Christ Fulfilled the Law

The wise man, King Solomon, says that the conclusion of the whole matter lies in keeping the commandments of God. It is the whole duty of man. Pastor Shelem Flemons has then fittingly provided a broad study of God’s Ten Commandments in a way possibly few would expect. Every serious student of Scripture will benefit from the reading. Consider it your “heavenly homeland security.” Available here: http://torwm.org/product/how-christ-fulfilled-the-law/.

Words of Encouragement

Romans 8:12-13 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Psalm 125:2  As the mountains are round about Jerusalem,so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.

For Heaven’s Sake…

God had promised to deliver the walled city into the Israelites. But first they were to follow specific instructions to march around the walled city once every day for six days. On the seventh day, they were to march around the city seven times, all in complete silence and in strict order. At the appointed time they were to give a shout of victory. The armed warriors went first; followed by seven priests, each carrying a ram’s horn; followed by the Levites carrying the ark of the covenant; followed by the vast army sectioned according to their tribe. Every day for six days, the Israelites marched according to their strict orders, while the inhabitants of the city watched on with intense interest. Then came the seventh day.

“The vast army marched solemnly around the devoted walls. All was silent, save the measured tread of many feet, and the occasional sound of the trumpet, breaking the stillness of the early morning. The massive walls of solid stone seemed to defy the siege of men. The watchers on the walls looked on with rising fear, as, the first circuit ended, there followed a second, then a third, a fourth, a fifth, a sixth. What could be the object of these mysterious movements? What mighty event was impending? They had not long to wait. As the seventh circuit was completed, the long procession paused, The trumpets, which for an interval had been silent, now broke forth in a blast that shook the very earth. The walls of solid stone, with their massive towers and battlements, tottered and heaved from their foundations, and with a crash fell in ruin to the earth. The inhabitants of Jericho were paralyzed with terror, and the hosts of Israel marched in and took possession of the city. PP 491.1

“The utter destruction of the people of Jericho was but a fulfillment of the commands previously given through Moses concerning the inhabitants of Canaan: “Thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them.” Deuteronomy 7:2. “Of the cities of these people, … thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth.” Deuteronomy 20:16. To many these commands seem to be contrary to the spirit of love and mercy enjoined in other portions of the Bible, but they were in truth the dictates of infinite wisdom and goodness. God was about to establish Israel in Canaan, to develop among them a nation and government that should be a manifestation of His kingdom upon the earth. They were not only to be inheritors of the true religion, but to disseminate its principles throughout the world. The Canaanites had abandoned themselves to the foulest and most debasing heathenism, and it was necessary that the land should be cleared of what would so surely prevent the fulfillment of God’s gracious purposes. PP 492.1

“The inhabitants of Canaan had been granted ample opportunity for repentance. Forty years before, the opening of the Red Sea and the judgments upon Egypt had testified to the supreme power of the God of Israel. And now the overthrow of the kings of Midian, of Gilead and Bashan, had further shown that Jehovah was above all gods. The holiness of His character and His abhorrence of impurity had been evinced in the judgments visited upon Israel for their participation in the abominable rites of Baalpeor. All these events were known to the inhabitants of Jericho, and there were many who shared Rahab’s conviction, though they refused to obey it, that Jehovah, the God of Israel, “is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath.” Like the men before the Flood, the Canaanites lived only to blaspheme Heaven and defile the earth. And both love and justice demanded the prompt execution of these rebels against God and foes to man. PP 492.2

“How easily the armies of heaven brought down the walls of Jericho, that proud city whose bulwarks, forty years before, had struck terror to the unbelieving spies! The Mighty One of Israel had said, “I have given into thine hand Jericho.” Against that word human strength was powerless. PP 492.3

“’By faith the walls of Jericho fell down.’ Hebrews 11:30. … It was to be impressed upon their minds that their strength was not in the wisdom of man, nor in his might, but only in the God of their salvation. They were thus to become accustomed to relying wholly upon their divine Leader. PP 493.1

“God will do great things for those who trust in Him. The reason why His professed people have no greater strength is that they trust so much to their own wisdom, and do not give the Lord an opportunity to reveal His power in their behalf. He will help His believing children in every emergency if they will place their entire confidence in Him and faithfully obey Him. PP 493.2”

For Health’s Sake…

Blood pressure is raised when too much cholesterol and fats clog the arteries. Thankfully, simply getting enough sunlight can help lower that pressure. With only the face and hands exposed to sunlight 20 minutes every day, enough sun rays can help reverse high blood pressure.

Sunlight changes cholesterol to vitamin D. Like a vacuum, this pulls cholesterol out of the bloodstream into the skin to replace the used cholesterol. And the cycle continues until the arteries are cleaned out.

As the vitamin D helps in the absorption of calcium, more alkaline substances are made available to the blood to neutralize excessive acids that are toxic. The more toxins in the blood, the more free radicals damage the artery walls.

Our bodies are indeed fearfully and wonderfully made. We only need to cooperate with them to regain and maintain health. As we do with the manual for cars or any product, follow it. The manual for the human body is the Bible. It is our Creator’s instruction manual. Follow it.

Worship: The Journey Around Edom / Wellness: Unnecessary Treatments

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  The Israelites, descendants of Jacob, appealed to Edom, the descendant of Esau, to allow passage through Edom to Canaan. Twice, he denied their requests, even though they were all descendants of Isaac and Abraham. The Israelites had to return and go around Edom along the Red Sea. They had brought the denial upon themselves. (Read more below.)

Eye on Prophecy

At birth, because of race or gender, civil rights take immediate effect in a republic. America was founded upon republicanism, where one person had the same rights as the majority. In a democracy, majority rules. Period. Where is the republic upon which America promised to stand? Revelation 13:11-18 has the answer. Prophecy is being quickly fulfilled.

For Heaven’s Sake…

Exodus 20:1-17

And God spake all these words, saying,

I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

13 Thou shalt not kill.

14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15 Thou shalt not steal.

16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

For Health’s Sake…

The same is true when we brake the laws of health, we brake the Ten Commandments, says Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness.

  1. 1. Do not make a god out of your taste buds. People who choose their bellies before they choose God become enemies of the cross. “Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things” (Philippians 3:19).

2. Be mindful of the image being created, when molding and shaping and fashioning dough or other foods in the kitchen. Obeying the dictates of your appetite is serving it and making a graven image right in your own kitchen. “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” (Romans 6:16)

3. You should look and act like a Christian and not simply say that you are. Eating whenever you want, however much you want, and whatever you want destroys a healthy body. Dressing so that blood vessels are constricted hinders proper blood circulation. Tight-fitting clothing and exposed extremities and other body parts cause blood constriction. “In that day seven women [church people in every denomination] shall take hold of one man [Jesus], saying We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach” (Isaiah 4:1).

4. Remember to follow the Owner’s manual for preserving God’s creation: the human body. Keep it healthy, according to the Bible. After God made everything else, He made man and gave man his diet; all of “it was very good” (Genesis 1:31). Then God gave the Sabbath in honor of and as a reminder of His creatorship. When we violate the manual for human preservation, we violate the law of the Creator: God.

5. Honor thy Father by honoring His temple: your body. “Know ye not ye are the temple of God,  and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16) When we willfully violate health principles, we are not honoring our Father: God.

6. Don’t commit murder and suicide. When we consume and serve to others toxic foods and drinks and otherwise don’t take care of ourselves by getting enough sleep, air, sun, prayer, or the WORD, we are committing murder and suicide on the installment plan.

7. Be faithful to God’s plan for your health. When you aren’t, your disobedience is playing the harlot or whoredom with Satan. It is adultery.

8. Don’t cut short your life violating health laws. It is stealing. It robs God, your family, your church, and your community of service you could have provided.

9. Don’t be a false witness. Be a Christian in your dietary and lifestyle habits and encourage others to do the same.

10. Do not nurse unreasonable desires for that which you should not have or does not belong to you. It is being covetous.
