Worship: 40 Days After the Resurrection / Wellness: Dressed to Kill: Dress, Prostate Cancer Linked

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  After Jesus had “fulfilled His pledge to give His life a ransom for fallen man,” after His sacrifice had been accepted by God the Father and the covenant ratified, Jesus returned to Earth. He spent forty days showing Himself “by many infallible proofs” that He was indeed alive. Jesus spent the forty days with His disciples, strengthening them, guiding them, encouraging them that they might be ready to “receive power for witnessing” through the gift of the Holy Spirit, also called the Comforter and Christ’s representative on Earth.

(Please listen to the recording for further details and to hear Pastor Flemons sing “Jesus Has Promised My Shepherd to Be.” Also read John 20:16, 17; Acts 1:3; Zechariah 6:3-8; John 16:7, 13, 14; and DA 818, 819.

[This study was based on “The Forty Days After His Resurrection” in The Path to the Throne of God: The Sanctuary, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck, PTG 92 original; PTG 130 new edition; PTG 67 online.]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says perfect health requires perfect circulation. The blood must flow freely to the extremities and to the organs of the trunk, including the prostate gland. Tight clothing prevents the free flow of blood, causing stagnation and toxification. Synthetics cause the body to sweat. But because the fibers cannot absorb the sweat, sweat and the toxins in sweat are reabsorbed. Toxification sets in the body and sets up right conditions for disease, including prostate cancer. Women are similarly affected with breast cancer by wearing tight-fitting bras that are not of natural fiber. When dressing, remember to wear loose fitting clothes of natural fiber that fully cover the body, including the extremities. (For additional details, please listen to the recording.)

Words of Encouragement

Matthew 6:31-33  Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that we have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Philippians 4:19  But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Read also COL 149.2 -149.3.)

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Pastor Flemons called the worship segment “When You’re Old and Cold” for the Facebook audience. He was quick to say that when you are young and unconverted, without the LORD, you will be old and unconverted. Nasty young men become nasty old men. When David was old and cold, he too showed his real colors. (Read more below.)

Joel 2:25-26  And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. Words of Encouragement

For Heaven’s Sake…

By beholding, we become changed. (Read 2 Corinthians 3:18.) Dwelling on purity, we become pure, says Pastor Flemons. Purity defined is this: whatever is true and honest and just and lovely and of a good report. (Read Philippians 4:8.)

That’s not gossip or negative things. When we dwell on the ugly past of others or even of ourselves, says Pastor Flemons, we are showing that our hearts are defiled. We haven’t been converted. God says His mercies are new every morning. (Read Lamentations 3:22 and 23.) As we confess our sins, God “is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). That means confessed and forsaken sins committed yesterday are as they never were. And today, you can be new. That is because if “any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new,” according to the Word of God in 2 Corinthians 5:17.

Pastor Flemons says that there will be many people whose lives have been stained with sin–gross sin–who will be in heaven. They will have purified their lives on this side of heaven by dwelling on the purity of God’s Word. Meanwhile, others who wouldn’t dare allow themselves to commit the same kind of gross sins will be lost, because they choose to dwell on the ugly past sins of others and gossip about them.

The inspired commentary on the pure in heart is found in the book, Thoughts From the Mount of Blessing, by Ellen White:

“The Jews were so exacting in regard to ceremonial purity that their regulations were extremely burdensome. Their minds were occupied with rules and restrictions and the fear of outward defilement, and they did not perceive the stain that selfishness and malice impart to the soul.

“Jesus does not mention this ceremonial purity as one of the conditions of entering into His kingdom, but points out the need of purity of heart. The wisdom that is from above “is first pure.” James 3:17. Into the city of God there will enter nothing that defiles. All who are to be dwellers there will here have become pure in heart. In one who is learning of Jesus, there will be manifest a growing distaste for careless manners, unseemly language, and coarse thought. When Christ abides in the heart, there will be purity and refinement of thought and manner.

“But the words of Jesus, “Blessed are the pure in heart,” have a deeper meaning–not merely pure in the sense in which the world understands purity, free from that which is sensual, pure from lust, but true in the hidden purposes and motives of the soul, free from pride and self-seeking, humble, unselfish, childlike.”

(You may access the full chapter commentary on the Beatitudes in Thoughts From the Mount of Blessing, by Ellen G. White here: http://www.whiteestate.org/books/mb/mb2.html.)

A pure heart will be found in a complete surrender to God. Pastor Flemons says, “This sinful body can have a pure mind.”

For Health’s Sake…

The lymph glands in the breast need freedom to flow to release toxins from the body. Push-up bras, synthetic bras, underwire and strapless bras hinder this healthy drainage. Instead they trap toxins in the breast.

Cotton bras are recommended for healthy breasts. They allow the area to breathe. They may not be as sexy as the push-up or strapless bras, but at least they won’t cause you to be dressed to kill–yourself.

Two books recommended to read for more details about this topic include Dressed to Kill by Sydney Ross Singer and Soma Grismaijer and Thy Nakedness by Gwen and Rick Shorter.
