Worship: The Image of Daniel 2 / Wellness: Got Tough Pain? Sprout It Out!

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  The image of Daniel 2 was a dream of the king of Babylon, given by the living God. It could only be interpreted by Daniel, the prophet. (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that there is nothing more nutritious than sprouts for energy and strength and general health, even pain. He has begun to eat them like potato chips: straight out of the package. His energy is clearly evident and has been noted by listeners. And the pain he had is gone! He recommends you try them out. You don’t have to eat them like potato chips. And no, they don’t taste like potato chips. But you can add them to salads for a zing of flavor. There’s all kinds of sprouts. There’s red clover sprouts, alfalfa sprouts, radish sprouts, mung bean sprouts and on and on. You can grow them yourself. “You don’t need a green thumb,” he says. And you can sprout for pennies. But you may also buy sprouting jars and follow the directions.

Worship: Stick to it! / Wellness: Now What? Home, After a Wellness Retreat

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Doing the right thing can be exhausting: if you have to constantly struggle against opposing norms. Or you may not be appreciated by the one you are sacrificing for. But that is exactly what happened to Jesus and His disciples and His followers. We should expect the same. In his letter to the Galatians, Paul gave this advice and encouragement. (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  In the healing environment of a wellness retreat, you may feel safe in “test-driving” your new lifestyle. But what about when you get home? How will you do it alone? Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness and naturopathy, offers some suggestions. (Read more below.)

For Heaven’s Sake…

Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

God must allow us to have options. It helps to grow our characters, says Pastor Flemons. We will never know when the “due season” begins. But we must be patient and persevere. That is when trust comes in. We must simply trust God.

Otherwise, we only make mistakes. We make mistakes because we don’t want to fit into God’s plan for us. We only want to do our own plan. But God wants us to trust Him and submit to His plan. It will work out in our favor, and for everyone, if we continue doing His will.

Before the end of the trial or struggle in your efforts to do good, it might even get worse before it gets better. You might find yourself the object of hatred on every level. This concept of being hated is just to be expected. Admittedly, it is hard to be hated. But if we persist in rightdoing and in gaining victory over sin, no matter what it takes, in the end we will possess the hope of the gospel.

Matthew 10:20 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

“We are heading to a time when those who stand for the gospel will be labeled as worse than terrorists,” says Pastor Flemons. But we must endure it. God may therefore be allowing trials to help us prepare now for this coming persecution.

Matthew 5:11 Blessed are ye when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

2 Timothy 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

For “In your patience possess ye your souls” (Luke 21:19). Using the Refreshing acronyn, Pastor Flemons simply says, “Never give up.”

For Health’s Sake…

  1. 1. Have a plan for your new lifestyle that works with your schedule. Personalize it. If you must, schedule a time to drink water in order to get in the required daily amount.
  2. 2. Clear out bad foods and habits in order to make room for healthy foods and new habits.
  3. 3. Go shopping and get what you need to stay healthy. You must have the basics. Buy organic. It is better than buying unhealthy foods. It may cost more now. But health in the long term is cheaper than any chronic illness. Borrow what you cannot afford to buy: a juicer, for instance. Many have juicers just sitting around gathering dust.
  4. 4. Don’t worry! Don’t stress out! Everything will not always work out perfectly, but God will make up the difference. If it’s not perfect today, it will be better tomorrow. Don’t borrow sorrow for tomorrow!
  5. 5. Do your best. God will do this rest. Never give up!

These suggestions can be applied to any decision for improvements and lifestyle changes.
