Worship: For Heaven’s Sake God instituted reforms after 1798 to prepare His people for the world’s final crisis, which will occur just prior to the Second Coming of Christ. The understanding of the Sabbath is just one of those reforms. It is the fourth in the series Preparation for the Final Crisis. It follows talks on Bible reform, the Spirit of Prophecy reform, and Sanctuary reform.
God could have chosen any day to make holy. And He did. He chose the seventh day, which begins and ends at sunset, according to the Genesis 1 pattern of days. God calls it the Sabbath day.
Exodus 20:8-11 explains: “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.”
“God has never removed the sanctity from that day,” says Pastor Flemons. We would do well to do the same. God knew that man would forget the fourth commandment, the seal and heart of the Ten Commandments. He knew that man would go so far as to institute another day in its place and call it an honor to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Yet, Jesus Himself, said that God made the Sabbath for man. (Read Mark 2:27, 28.) It is the Lord’s day. The fourth commandment reminds us that the Sabbath is a memorial of creation. “For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth . . . and rested the seventh day.” He made it for man’s good, not for the angels, who always do His bidding. “It is because of us,” says Pastor Flemons, “that the angels keep the Sabbath.”
God is the Supreme King and the Supreme God. Kings make laws, says Pastor Flemons, “and require obedience.” Gods require worship. In fact, as King and God, He requires our obedience and our worship.
It is a sin for man to make laws that require our obedience in opposition to the requirements of God. It is a sin for man to make any law that orders us to worship on any day other than the Sabbath that God gave and call it the Lord’s Day. The seventh day is the Lord’s Day. We need to do whatever it takes to serve God. He is Creator of the world and the God of our salvation.
Salvation requires that we all be born again. It requires that we give only to God our wholehearted devotion. True Sabbathkeeping is the symbol of the miracle of being born again through Christ. It is the sign and our acknowledgment that we belong to God and that He is sanctifying us to reside in Heaven for an eternity. When Christ comes, says Pastor Flemons, He will change our bodies, but our characters must already have been reformed, developed and sealed for an eternity.
“Focus on giving God your heart,” says Pastor Flemons. “He will do the change. That is what the Sabbath represents.”

Worship: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that in order for us to be healthy, we all need an alkaline diet. He explained the pH scale, which registers the body’s level of acidity or toxicity and alkalinity. While diseases thrive in an acidic environment, they die in an alkaline environment. It is just the opposite for human beings, who are sick when their bodies are toxic. But they are healthy when the blood is alkaline.
Pastor Flemons further explained, using specific examples of common deadly and debilitating diseases, like cancer, arthritis and diabetes. In each case, an alkaline diet is crucial for healing, and it is indispensable for maintaining health. An alkaline diet includes vegetables, fruits, nuts and grains. It is a total plant-based diet, primarily of live foods–foods in their natural state–that is best for healthy blood. For it is as the Bible has said: Life is in the blood. (Read Leviticus 17:11.) Indeed, it is all about the blood, whether it is toxic or not.
