Worship: Making False gods / Wellness: Proof, Flu Vaccine Does Not Prevent Flu

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake   The second commandment (Exodus 20:4-6) does not sanction bowing down to or worshiping statues and images. Pastor Flemons clarifies that while Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a virgin who was miraculously impregnated with the Son of God by the Holy Ghost, she herself is not to be worshiped. She is not part of the godhead. Because of Mary, Christ is one hundred percent human. And because of the Holy Ghost, Christ is one hundred percent divine. His humanity allows His image to be painted, as any other human, but not for the purposes of worship. To avoid any temptation or confusion on this point, and because most photos are not true to the biblical description of Jesus anyway, it is best to not have a representation of even His image, says Pastor Flemons.

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, read an article published on the site of ScienceDaily.com. It shows that in 2009, researchers learned that “children who had received the flu vaccine had three times the risk of hospitalization, as compared to children who had not received the vaccine. In asthmatic children, there was a significantly higher risk of hospitalization in subjects who received the TIV, as compared to those who did not.” Still, the official conclusion was that their findings only raised questions and did not implicate that the vaccine caused the hospitalizations. Pastor Flemons agrees with their findings but not with their scientific conclusion and says, “There’s your proof.” What more do you need? People have good reason to question, even refuse, the flu vaccine. Rather, adopt the REFRESHING way lifestyle. The REFRESHING Way lifestyle is the best flu vaccine. It’s God’s plan for wellness.

Words of Encouragement

Psalm 27:13, 14  I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Hebrews 6:10-12  For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: that ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Worship: The Time of Trouble, Pt. 3 / Wellness: Money Matters with Health Matters

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  A time of trouble such as the world has never seen is coming upon the whole world. It “will require a faith that can endure weariness, delay, and hunger–a faith that will not faint though severely tried.” GC 621.2  (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  People would do far better spending more money on healthy foods to preserve their health, than buying cheap foods that make them sick. In the long run, buying cheap foods, which generally are of poor quality, causes higher medical bills in the effort to regain their health. Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, reviewed a ScienceDaily.com article that reports healthy foods being twice as expensive as unhealthy foods. Pastor Flemons says if we would get back to God’s plan we would get out into the country and then spend far less on healthy foods than on cheap foods. Furthermore, he says that people ultimately tend to spend more money on cheap, unhealthy foods, because they have to eat much more of it in an effort to satisfy hunger. Healthier foods are more nourishing to the body cells and therefore can more quickly satisfy hunger.

Words of Encouragement

James 5:10, 11  Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of  Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

James 5:15, 16  And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

For Heaven’s Sake…

“ The period of probation is granted to all to prepare for that time. Jacob prevailed because he was persevering and determined. His victory is an evidence of the power of importunate prayer. All who will lay hold of God’s promises, as he did, and be as earnest and persevering as he was, will succeed as he succeeded. Those who are unwilling to deny self, to agonize before God, to pray long and earnestly for His blessing, will not obtain it. Wrestling with God—how few know what it is! How few have ever had their souls drawn out after God with intensity of desire until every power is on the stretch. When waves of despair which no language can express sweep over the suppliant, how few cling with unyielding faith to the promises of God. {GC 621.2}

“We should now acquaint ourselves with God by proving His promises. Angels record every prayer that is earnest and sincere. We should rather dispense with selfish gratifications than neglect communion with God. The deepest poverty, the greatest self-denial, with His approval, is better than riches, honors, ease, and friendship without it. We must take time to pray. If we allow our minds to be absorbed by worldly interests, the Lord may give us time by removing from us our idols of gold, of houses, or of fertile lands. {GC 622.2}

“The ‘time of trouble, such as never was,’ is soon to open upon us; and we shall need an experience which we do not now possess and which many are too indolent to obtain. It is often the case that trouble is greater in anticipation than in reality; but this is not true of the crisis before us. The most vivid presentation cannot reach the magnitude of the ordeal. In that time of trial, every soul must stand for himself before God. ‘Though Noah, Daniel, and Job’ were in the land, ‘as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.’ Ezekiel 14:20{GC 622.4}

“Now, while our great High Priest is making the atonement for us, we should seek to become perfect in Christ. Not even by a thought could our Saviour be brought to yield to the power of temptation. Satan finds in human hearts some point where he can gain a foothold; some sinful desire is cherished, by means of which his temptations assert their power. But Christ declared of Himself: ‘The prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in Me.’ John 14:30. Satan could find nothing in the Son of God that would enable him to gain the victory. He had kept His Father’s commandments, and there was no sin in Him that Satan could use to his advantage. This is the condition in which those must be found who shall stand in the time of trouble.” {GC 623.1}

During this time of trouble, God will permit Satan to perform miraculous deceptions, so much so that if it were possible the very elect would be misled.

Worship: Your Calling / Wellness: Hungry? Maybe You Should Drink Water

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Your calling was determined before you were born. “God is no respecter of persons,” says Pastor Flemons, paraphrasing Romans 2:11. That means what He did for Jeremiah, he will do for you. (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  The next time you are tempted to eat and lie down, drink water instead. Sometimes you may think you are hungry, but really you are thirsty, says Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness and naturopathy. (Read more below.)

Words of Encouragement

Jeremiah 29:11  For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Psalm 91:15-16  He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

For Heaven’s Sake…

Jeremiah 1:4-10  Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD. Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. See, I have set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

The problem, says Pastor Flemons, is that counselors simply direct people toward careers that personally interest them. Typically, they are not directed to learn what is God’s will for their lives. Instead, people choose what is considered secure and typically lucrative careers and end up depressed for many years. Sometimes it takes nearly a lifetime, even after retirement, for people to learn what their real calling is.

But it is not too late, says Pastor Flemons, to submit yourself to God’s guidance. You can still have the most exciting part of your life doing God’s will. Even if it isn’t full-time ministry, God still has something for you to do that involves spreading the gospel so that as many as are willing might be saved.

Ask God to reveal to you what His will is for your life, and then look for opportunities to direct people to God wherever you are.

For Health’s Sake…

Eating and lying down before your meal has fully digested presents a health hazard, including risk of a heart attack. Drinking water instead helps prevent such risks. But we’ve learned that drinking water has other benefits as well.

“For people who want to control their weight or reduce their intakes of sugar, sodium and saturated fat, tap water may be what the doctor ordered,” says a recent article published on ScienceDaily.com.

The article essentially reported the findings of a new study published in the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics.  Researchers “examined the dietary habits of more than 18,300 US adults, and found the majority of people who increased their consumption of plain water by 1 percent reduced their total daily calorie intake as well as their consumption of saturated fat, sugar, sodium and cholesterol.” The study also reports that this is true regardless of race or ethnicity, educational background, weight, or any other category you can think of.

Essentially, when you drink more water, you’ll eat less bad food, says Pastor Flemons. He suggests only that you drink pure water and avoid tap water, unless you are dehydrated and have no other option.
