Worship: The Council of Peace / Wellness: Early Breakfast and Diabetes

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Jesus and His Father met to lay the plans for the salvation of mankind before the world was founded. The meeting is referred to as the council of peace. “It was at that sacred council that Christ, the Lamb of God, offered himself as a ransom to redeem him [mankind]. Zech 6:13; GC 416, 417. But all will agree that Christ was not actually slain until the cross.” Still, the Bible refers to Jesus as “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world” (Revelation 13:8). In the same way, the sanctuary (both on Earth and in Heaven) itself is the manifestation of that council of peace. And the heavenly sanctuary “could not actually function until after the death, resurrection and ascension of Christ when He was anointed High Priest. Pastor Flemons added that the sweet hour of prayer will be over once we arrive in Heaven. That’s why the song’s last stanza includes the phrase “Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer.” Instead, it will be face to face with Christ, our Savior.

(For further details, listen to the recording and read Zechariah 6:13; Hebrews 9:8; Revelation 13:8; and the GC 416-417.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, discussed the importance of eating an early breakfast, especially if one has diabetes. His presentation was inspired by a health.news article, which reports a newly found relation among “night owls,” obesity and diabetes. He added that an early breakfast is essential to a three-meal day, so that the final meal is finished early enough to have been digested before bedtime. Typically, the night owl eats late meals, which contributes to obesity. Obesity is identified as a body mass index (BMI) of at least 30, which is common to people with Type 2 diabetes. Eating two complete meals daily around 10am and 3pm is best, says Pastor Flemons.

Words of Encouragement

Psalm 37:1-3  Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

1 John 3:1-3 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. (Also read SC 15.)
