Worship: For Heaven’s Sake “If Bible study is truly to be our ‘safeguard’ through times of trouble, we must dig deep into its rich mine of truth, comparing scripture with scripture. In these closing hours of probation, we need to study more earnestly than ever before. Satan knows that the Bible, studied with heart and mind and soul, will be our ‘safeguard’ during the perils of these last days; therefore it is his ‘constant study to keep the minds of men occupied with those things which will prevent them from obtaining the knowledge of God.’ . . . But if we improve our opportunities to gain a knowledge of the Bible, God will not leave us to the buffetings of the enemy. To those who hunger and thirst after righteousness the promise is that they shall be filled. This promise . . .will never fail.” Daily feeding upon the Word of God in a simple prayerful manner to know God will have a multiplied effect, not only upon the reader but also indirectly upon others.

Wellness: For Health’s Sake Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that you should simply drink water when you are thirsty and sluggish. If need be, take ginseng for added energy. At all costs, avoid the “energy” drinks that are full of sugar and caffeine and other additives. They can kill. In fact, in 2016 more than twenty thousand people were recorded to have visited the ER due to the ill effects of the so-called energy drinks. It is a 2011 governmental report that expressed real concern about the drinks and has led to further study.
Rather than provide energy, these so-called energy drinks actually cause a number of dangerous side effects, including increased heart rate, stiffened blood vessels, thickened blood, and high blood pressure, which can precipitate a heart attack and stroke. They can also cause periods of anxiety, changes in sleep patterns, and mood swings, particularly in children and adolescents. Further, they have caused seizures and sudden cardiac deaths.
“A study from 2014 found that nearly 40 percent of the calls to poison control centers concerning children under the age of 6 were related to energy drinks.”
An internationally recognized cardiologist, Dr. Kevin Campbell, concluded this: “From a medical standpoint, energy drinks have no nutritional value and should be avoided. Water is a healthy beverage choice, and one that has been proven time and again to be part of an overall healthy lifestyle.” Nevertheless, in the U.S. alone, the energy drink business is still expected to reach $61 billion in only two years.
