Worship: Light-Bearing, the Fruit of Faith / Wellness: Pastor and Practitioner

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  “Love is the foundation of faith,” says Pastor Flemons. Only a faith that works because of love is counted for righteousness. That is essentially what Paul tells us in Galatians 5:6. And the faith that is counted for righteousness or right doing is the faith that results in sanctification.

Such love comes to us as a gift from God. In fact, He gives it to us in broad measure by the Holy Ghost, according to Romans 5:5. He does so, because “‘God intends each of us to be a spiritual masterpiece, His building.’ . . ‘God reaches down through our scrap pile of broken resolutions, faded ideals, crushed hopes, seared consciences, untempered wills, for the buried talents of nobility and service to make us “servants of righteousness.”‘” It is this kind of light-bearing that can go the second mile when necessary.

[For additional details, please read Matthew 5:39-41; Galatians 5:6; Romans 5:5; and “Light-Bearing the Fruit of Faith” in The Path to the Throne of God: The Sanctuary, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that not only did Jesus grant authority to His twelve disciples to cure disease but He granted such authority to all believers. We call them medical missionaries.

Pastor Flemons confessed that a medical missionary sometimes has to fight against the temptation to push someone to be healed who wants to give up. In some cases, the medical missionary must become pastoral and simply minister to the spiritual needs of people. There must be a Spirit-led balance. God will lead.

Medical Ministry, the manual for medical missionaries by Ellen G. White, offers some wisdom in such cases. “There is a science in dealing with those who seem especially weak. If we would teach others, we ourselves must first learn of Christ. We need broad views, that we may do true medical missionary work, and show tact in dealing with minds.” {MM 209.1}

Faith, courage, wisdom and tact must be blended in ministering to people’s needs. Pastor Flemons says, “We must know the science of dealing with minds.”

Also pray for people living in areas of extreme heat and in those areas at risk of being destroyed by hurricanes and tornadoes and other natural disasters.
