Worship: Christians, Colorful Cosmetics, Jewelry, and Flashy Clothes #8 / Wellness: Exercise, Best Practices

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Isaiah 3 and 4 discuss the state and attitude of God’s so-called people, especially in the last days. Isaiah 4 describes what God will do in response. Verse 4 of Isaiah 4 refers to a cleansing of filth by judgment. The filth, says Pastor Flemons, includes the wearing of jewelry as listed in Isaiah 3.

He taught that the judgment is that of the Investigative Judgment that is even now in process, in which the life record of every professed believer is reviewed. The review ends in a decision with eternal consequences. The professed believer’s sins will either be forever removed from his or her record and the name retained in the Lamb’s Book of Life or the professed believer will be declared filthy and forever separated from God. Revelation 22:11 puts it this way: “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.”

Your name may be on the roll of any organization, says Pastor Flemons. However, just having your name on a church roll does not make you safe for an eternity. What really matters is this. Is your name written on the roll of the Lamb’s Book of Life? That is the key.

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, shared points about how to get adequate exercise daily.

  1. 1. Exercise consistently at least five times a week.
  2. 2. Exercise vigorously enough to maintain a sustained increased heart rate.
  3. 3. Walk in the open air. It is the best exercise.
  4. 4. Start your walking program with mild exercise, and increase both the tine and duration of the walk in increments. A good starting point for most people is 30 minutes a day, increasing the time and duration in one-week increments.
  5. 5. Make it your goal to walk briskly at least one hour a day.
  6. 6. Avoid vigorous exercise within one half hour before and after each meal.
  7. 7. Take a relaxing stroll after each meal. This will help digestion. Avoid reclining immediately after a meal.
  8. 8. Exercise in the morning. It has a more therapeutic effect than evening exercise. Nevertheless, morning or evening exercise is still very good.
  9. 9. Rebound or walk the treadmill or use other household exercise equipment during inclement weather.
  10. 10. Exercise in the cooler parts of summer days, if possible.

Exercise is the fifth wellness principle of the REFRESHING Way lifestyle.  REFRESHING stands for Rely on God. Eat healthy. Fresh air. Rest. Exercise. Self-Control (temperance). H2O (drink water). In the sun. Never give up. Give to others.
