Worship: For Heaven’s Sake Pastor Flemons, as promised, discussed the adornment of Christians from the perspective of the New Testament. The Apostle Paul, in his first letter to his spiritual son Timothy, laid out the principle of dress for Christians. Women are to “adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array [that would be flashy clothes!]; but (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.”
The same message is echoed by Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, in his first epistle “to the strangers scattered” who are also God’s “elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.” Peter said that any adorning should “not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel.” Peter was clear that the adornment of a true Christian should “be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves.”
Pastor Flemons made the point that you can wear the right thing and still have the wrong attitude. So simply wearing the right thing does not make you holy. “The Bible is clear,” says Pastor Flemons. “We are only safe when we walk with Jesus and obey.”
(For additional details, please read 1 Timothy 2:9, 10 and 1 Peter 3:1-5. Also listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Shelem Flemons and hear him sing Hymn 624, “I Want Jesus to Walk With Me.”)
Worship: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, provided nine tips for drinking sufficient water daily.
- 1. Drink distilled or some other soft pure water, like spring water, which has some amount of mineralization.
- 2. Divide your weight by 2 to determine your daily water intake. This is the number of ounces of water that you should drink daily. If your urine is yellow, increase the ounces of water until your urine is clear.
- 3. Do not drink water with your meals.
- 4. Drink water between meals: at least an hour, either before or after mealtime.
- 5. Drink 16 ounces of warm lemon water upon rising. It is your wake-up tonic that also encourages a morning bowel movement. Squeeze one lemon into 16 ounces of warmed distilled water to make the lemon water.
- 6. Do not drink large amounts of water at one time, except when you are doing a flushing remedy. Drink your quota of water throughout the day.
- 7. Substitute herbal tea for your quota of water intake only when the tea is not sweetened.
- 8. Drink your water at a regular pace. Don’t drink your water in gulps.
- 9. Don’t drink water that is too hot or too cold.
