Worship: The Whole Armor / Wellness: 10 Reasons Why You Need Kale

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  You may have heard it said that What you don’t know can’t hurt you. Well you need to know this. Ignorance may seem bliss. But what you don’t know can truly hurt you.

Jesus promised to give to believers the Comforter, the Holy Spirit of truth, who would be our guide into all truth. (Read John 16:13.) Pastor Flemons says, “We need to know all the truth. . . Truth sets you free.” For example, if we don’t know the truth about preserving our health, then we will suffer disease needlessly and succumb to an early death. If we know the truth about health but don’t know God, then we may live long, but lose out on eternal life.

We need to put on the whole armor of God to endure victoriously. “We must be prepared to fight,” says Pastor Flemons.  “We cannot neglect one part of the armor. . .For every piece of truth that we do not know, that is the piece of a chain that is holding us back. . .that we are in bondage to.”

“In the judgment men will not be condemned because they conscientiously believed a lie, but because they did not believe the truth, because they neglected the opportunity of learning what is truth. . . We must set our hearts to know what is truth. All the lessons which God has caused to be placed on record in His word are for our warning and instruction. They are given to save us from deception. Their neglect will result in ruin to ourselves. Whatever contradicts God’s word, we may be sure proceeds from Satan.” {PP 55.2}

[For additional details, please read Ephesians 6:10-13; John 8:31, 32; John 17:172 Tim 3:15, 16; PP 55.2. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 272, “Give Me the Bible.”]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that we should be eating more kale. In fact, he said that we should eat a lot of kale. Then he shared in part an article on healthline.com that reveals why.

Besides crowning kale as king of all super healthy greens, the article listed ten science-supported benefits of kale. For one, it “is among the most nutrient-dense foods in existence.” It is “loaded with antioxidants like quercetin and kaempferol” and is an “excellent source of vitamin C.” For instance, one “cup of raw kale contains even more vitamin C than a whole orange (10).”

Also, one cup of raw kale contains 7 times more vitamin K than daily recommended. That makes it one of the world’s greatest sources of vitamin K., which “is absolutely critical for blood-clotting.” Because of its ability to help lower cholesterol, it is expected to “reduce the risk of heart disease.”

It also contains many substances that fight cancer and is high in beta-carotene. It is a good source of minerals like calcium, magnesium and potassium and is high in powerful nutrients that protect the eyes. “Because of the low calorie and high water content, kale has a low energy density. Eating plenty of foods with a low energy density has been shown to aid weight loss in numerous studies (29, 30).”

Kale is “a cruciferous vegetable like cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, collard greens and Brussels sprouts.” Whether the kale is smooth or curly, green or purple, or which of the many types it is, it is a great choice to include on your grocery list or in your personal garden. Regardless of your condition, you need kale. It is “definitely one of the healthiest and most nutritious plant foods in existence.”

A “very tasty” kale quinoa salad that continues to evoke rave from Pastor Flemons may be found on the menu of your nearest Loving Hut vegan restaurant.
