Worship: Armor for the Final Crisis / Wellness: Drink Lemon Water Daily

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  To withstand the final crisis, we must have on the full armor of Christ. The final crisis will be a most evil day–a day of supreme temptation. It is not about our skill. It is not about our power. It is not about our eloquence. It is about what we possess that gives us victory in the final crisis.

It is a gift. The question is this. Have we taken what God has offered: the whole armor of Christ?

It is in this life, not until we get into heaven, but in this life that we must separate ourselves from sin. No one can neglect this work–the work of putting off every besetment–without losing out on eternal life. We must pray without ceasing and continuously submit ourselves to the Holy Spirit.

“The ‘time of trouble, such as never was,’ is soon to open upon us; and we shall need an experience which we do not now possess and which many are too indolent to obtain. It is often the case that trouble is greater in anticipation than in reality; but this is not true of the crisis before us. The most vivid presentation cannot reach the magnitude of the ordeal. In that time of trial, every soul must stand for himself before God.” {GC 622.4}

Our characters must be prepared for the Second Coming of Christ. The Sunday law crisis that is to come upon us will require a character developed to perfection. The character of Christ is to be ours. The righteousness of Christ is to be ours. Jesus could not be made to sin. No.

“Not even by a thought could our Saviour be brought to yield to the power of temptation.  . . . He had kept His Father’s commandments, and there was no sin in Him that Satan could use to his advantage. This is the condition in which those must be found who shall stand in the time of trouble. {GC 623.1}

“It is in this life that we are to separate sin from us, through faith in the atoning blood of Christ. Our precious Saviour invites us to join ourselves to Him, to unite our weakness to His strength, our ignorance to His wisdom, our unworthiness to His merits. God’s providence is the school in which we are to learn the meekness and lowliness of Jesus.  . . . It rests with us to co-operate with the agencies which Heaven employs in the work of conforming our characters to the divine model. None can neglect or defer this work but at the most fearful peril to their souls.” {GC 623.2}

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, presented a talk based on a health.news article that confirms why he recommends drinking lemon water first thing in the morning. The article, “Start your day right by drinking lemon water,” lists the benefits that include more than simply its refreshing taste.

Drinking lemon water helps guard against dehydration, which has been “associated with complications like kidney stone formation, high blood pressure, urinary tract infections, intestinal failure, and dementia.”

Drinking lemon water aids with good digestion and promotes healthy immune function. Drinking lemon water helps with overall health, since “lemons are rich in potassium.” Drinking lemon water provides the natural antiseptic properties needed to fight the bacteria in the mouth, throat, and digestive tract that have accumulated during the sleeping hours and cause bad breath, which cannot be eliminated simply by brushing. “Make sure to swish it around so that it can also reach the crevices of your mouth” before swallowing.

Drinking lemon water reduces inflammation and promotes healing, because of its high antioxidant content. Because drinking lemon water suppresses the appetite and stimulates metabolism, weight loss is made easier. And since drinking lemon water increases urine output, the body is aided in releasing excess water that could “lead to bloating, weight gain, high blood pressure, and poor heart function.”

“Lemon water is very easy to make. All of you have to do is slice up some lemons, put them in a pitcher of water, and let it sit in the fridge for some time to ensure that the nutrients are extracted from the fruit.” Pastor Flemons added that it is best to make sure your lemons are organic and are thoroughly washed before use.
