Worship: For Heaven’s Sake The expressed will of God is in the oracles of God. “God gave the Hebrew church every “advantage” – “Much every way,” but “chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.” Rom. 3:1,2. An oracle is defined as a revelation of the will of a deity. To the Hebrew church the Divine Deity gave a revelation of His will when He spoke His law from Sinai, and anyone desiring to know the will of this Deity will find it only by consulting His law – His oracle. That this oracle might not be lost sight of, God Himself with His own finger engraved it in tables of stone. That its sacredness might be most deeply impressed on His people, it was enshrined in the ark in the most holy place of the sanctuary, directly beneath the Shekinah, the visible symbol of the presence of the Deity, and overshadowed by two angels of beaten gold, representing the “shining guardians” – guards of honor – or His throne and His holy law. PP 357. This law together with divine revelations from the Shekinah and from the urim and the thummim in the breastplate worn by the high priest, composed the “oracles” of God.
“The Hebrew church was the only organization on earth that had a knowledge of the true God or of His divine law which, in the fourth or Sabbath commandment, distinguishes Him above all gods, as the Creator of “heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is.” Ex. 20:10,11. It was this knowledge of the true Deity and His law that gave the Jew the “advantage” over every other nation. Rom. 3:1,2. All others, because they knew not the Creator, because they knew not His oracle, were idol worshipers “having no hope, and without God in the world.” Eph. 2:12. With a heart observance of the Sabbath of God’s law – an institution commemorative of the Creator and His creative work – there never could have been an idol worshiper.”

Worship: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, discussed hangovers in conjunction with a ScientificAmerican.com article that he shared with listeners.
The article discussed reasons for hangovers, which it says is still under much debate. A hangover could be due to chemicals involved in alcohol metabolism. It could be hormonal. It could be due to dehydration or consuming far more than what can be tolerated.
The article listed other factors as well. “Individuals who drink alcohol rapidly, or without food, or without diluting it with nonalcoholic beverages, are more prone to developing a hangover. Mixing different alcoholic drinks can also cause a hangover. Additionally, smoking, loud music, flashing lights and decreased quality and quantity of sleep can exacerbate hangover headaches.”
“Approximately 75 percent of those who drink alcohol to intoxication will experience a hangover. Consumption of relatively large amounts of alcohol leads to more severe symptoms, which include headache, nausea, vomiting, thirst and dryness of mouth, tremors, dizziness, fatigue and muscle cramps.” And of course, there is often “an accompanying slump in occupational, cognitive or visual-spatial skills.” Certain symptoms that might go unnoticed include changes in blood pressure and rate of heartbeat.
The Bible warns against consuming the wine that alters the senses. In fact, the Bible says don’t even look at the wine that moves by itself. That would cover sizzling or sparkling wines. (Read Proverbs 23:31 and vss. 29-35.) However, the Bible recommends the wine that we call grape juice for an upset stomach. (Read 1 Timothy 5:23.) Grape juice is alkaline, like any other antacid, says Pastor Flemons. For those who want to see it differently, he says, “Stop reading the Bible with your own urges.”
