Worship: Tabernacle and Priests Anointed / Wellness: Prevention Better Than Cure

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Pastor Flemons recommends reading the sections that formed the basis of his discussion about the anointing of the sanctuary. (See link below.) His talk, however, focused on the point that has shaken the remnant world and caused so many to leave the church.

Both the Holy Place and Most Holy Place are referenced simply as “holy places” in Hebrews 9:24. This became a stumbling block, says Pastor Flemons, both for those who erred in following Desmond Ford out of the church on this point, as well as for those who stayed but missed the full meaning of text. The Ford side believed that Jesus only went into one of the holy places, not both. Therefore, Pastor Flemons felt led to discuss and settle the point.  [Correction: The Ford side believed that Jesus went into the Most Holy Place at His ascension, not in 1844, says Pastor Flemons.–Feb 9.]

“For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us” (Hebrews 9:24).

Pastor Flemons drew our attention to the exchange between Jesus and Mary, before His ascension, when Mary was not allowed to touch Him, according to John’s account. Pastor Flemons points out that immediately after His brief encounter with Mary, Jesus ascended first to Most Holy Place to show Himself to His Father for His approval of Jesus’s sacrifice. This was typified by Moses, who entered into the holy places to anoint the tabernacle and its furnishings, preceding the anointing of the high priest for his priestly service.

After Jesus received the approval of His Father, He returned to Earth for forty days, according to the record in Acts. After the forty days, Jesus then ascended to Heaven to be anointed and inaugurated as High Priest to begin His priestly duties in the Holy Place, where He remained until 1844. It was then on October 22, 1844, that His investigative judgment duties in the Most Holy Place began.

[For additional details, please read John 20:17; Acts 1:3; 8-11Exodus 30:26-30; Psalm 133:2; Exodus 29:4-9, 20,21; Leviticus 8:22-24. PTG 150 online.)  And listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 286, “Wonderful Words of Life.]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, introduced Meals Before Pills in the previous wellness segment and continued the discussion. “Prevention is better than a cure,” he said. Then, reading from Counsels on Diet and Foods, he said this:

“Many have expected that God would keep them from sickness merely because they have asked Him to do so. But God did not regard their prayers, because their faith was not made perfect by works. God will not work a miracle to keep those from sickness who have no care for themselves, but are continually violating the laws of health, and make no efforts to prevent disease. When we do all we can on our part to have health, then may we expect that the blessed results will follow, and we can ask God in faith to bless our efforts for the preservation of health. He will then answer our prayer, if His name can be glorified thereby. But let all understand that they have a work to do. God will not work in a miraculous manner to preserve the health of persons who are taking a sure course to make themselves sick, by their careless inattention to the laws of health. {CD 26.1}

“Those who will gratify their appetite, and then suffer because of their intemperance, and take drugs to relieve them, may be assured that God will not interpose to save health and life which is so recklessly periled. The cause has produced the effect. Many, as their last resort, follow the directions in the word of God, and request the prayers of the elders of the church for their restoration to health. God does not see fit to answer prayers offered in behalf of such, for He knows that if they should be restored to health, they would again sacrifice it upon the altar of unhealthy appetite.—Spiritual Gifts 4a:144, 145, 1864″ {CD 26.2}

Words of Encouragement

1 Peter 1:7  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 45.)

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 41.)

Worship: The Holy Anointing Oil / Wellness: Meals Before Pills

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  The tabernacle was erected and furnished. But before any services could be conducted in it, it must be anointed with a special anointing oil. As with everything connected with salvation through the sanctuary, the anointing oil had to be made according to strict directions. Four specific sweet spices: myrrh, cinnamon, calamus, and cassia–all represented Christ.

“These spices, weighing about 48 pounds (Moffatt) were compounded in an hin (1.5 gal., Moffatt) of olive oil. Ex. 30:23-25, thus making sufficient for anointing the priests and the sanctuary. The olive oil representing the Holy Spirit, and the four fragrant spices symbolizing Christ, being ‘compounded’ indicates the close cooperation of Christ and His representative, the Holy Spirit. This accounts for the warning given against compounding any like it or using it for any common purpose, under penalty of being cut off from Israel. Ex. 30:31-33.”

Not only were the tabernacle and its furnishings anointed, so were the priests. Likewise, so must all of God’s true followers be anointed for successful service. However, Pastor Flemons made this point vitally clear. “The anointing of the Holy Spirit doesn’t make you dance. The Holy Spirit makes you fragrant with the character of Christ.”

[For additional details, please read 1 Corinthians 3:9, 16; 6:19; Galatians 5:16-25; Romans 6:16-25; Romans 7:19; “The Holy Anointing Oil” from Path to the Throne of God, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, introduced Meals Before Pills. A major outreach project of Times of Refreshing, Meals Before Pills promotes proper diet and lifestyle as both a preventative and curative lifestyle plan. A book with the same title will be published and available at a later date, says Pastor Flemons. He then recited the poem “The Fence or the Ambulance.” The poem, he says, sends the message that we need meals before pills. He advises following the REFRESHING Way lifestyle before being rushed to the ER.

Words of Encouragement

Hebrews 11:8  By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 44.)

James 1:17  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 40.)

Worship: Setting Up the Tabernacle, Placing the Furniture / Wellness: 10 Benefits of Ginger

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  All articles of the tabernacle had been completed, presented to Moses in a grand procession, inspected, and blessed. Next the tabernacle had to be set up and the furniture placed within.

Setting Up the Tabernacle. ‘On the first day of the first month’ Ex. 40:2,17, Moses, following the explicit directions of the Lord, set up the tabernacle. First, the boards were raised up, set in their sockets, the bars put in them, and the pillars for the veil and the door erected. Thus the walls, securely fastened to the two corner boards, were “held firm.” PP 347. Next the four coverings were spread above this framework, Ex. 40:18,19; first, the richly embroidered royal covering, then the white goats’ hair covering, the taches of both these coverings being directly above the second veil. Next above these were the red ram’s skins and the brown badger skin coverings.

“Placing the Furniture. When the structure was ready for the furniture, Moses reverently put the tables of the testimony into the ark – the same tables that God had given him when he was in the mount; the staves, which were never to be removed, he placed in their rings, covered it with the mercy seat, and it was brought into the tabernacle. Then the second, or inner veil, was hung on its four golden pillars. It was hung “under the taches” which divided “between the holy place and the most holy.” Ex. 26:33. Following this, he set the golden table on the north side of the holy place, and arranged the bread and the dishes in order upon it. On the south side, ‘without the veil of the testimony, in the tabernacle of the congregation’ Lev. 24:3, he put the candlestick, and supplied the lamps with oil. Ex. 40:25. Before the inner veil he placed the golden altar, and put incense upon it, v. 27. Then the door – the outer veil – was hung on its five pillars, thus completing the furnishing of the sanctuary proper. Ex. 40:22-28.

“In the center of the court before the sanctuary, was placed the brazen altar, and between the altar and the door of the tabernacle, the laver and his foot. Into the laver water was poured, and Moses, Aaron, and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat. Lastly, the brazen court pillars were raised up, on which were hung the court hangings and the gate. ‘So Moses finished the work,’ and it was done ‘as the Lord had commanded.’ Ex. 40:29-33.”

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, discussed ten benefits of ginger as published in a honey coach article on coach.nine.com.au. The article lists the Top Ten surprising benefits of ginger. With each benefit, the article suggests a way to incorporate ginger into your diet.

The benefits listed are these: 1. It’s an anti-inflammatory. 2. It relieves muscle pain. 3. It settles the stomach. 4. It can help regulate blood sugar. 5. It helps prevent heart disease. 6. It reduces the risk of diabetes. At this point, the article advises taking it with salmon. In place of salmon, use chia seeds, says Pastor Flemons. 7. It reduces cancer risks. 8. It eases menstrual pain. 9. It fights infection. Rather than add a teaspoon of ginger to chicken soup, as advised in the article, add it to vegetable soup, says Pastor Flemons. 10. It improves brain function.

Words of Encouragement

Genesis 11:8  So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 43.)

Psalm 145:15, 16  The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season. Thou openest thine hand, and satisfieth the desire of every living thing. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 39.)

Worship: Moses Inspects the Work / Wellness: Kidney Stones

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  All articles of the tabernacle had been completed. Each was presented to Moses in a grand procession. He inspected the work and found it made according to the plan in every detail. “Every plank, curtain, and article of furniture had been most accurately made as designed by the Divine Architect.” Then he pronounced a blessing on them.

When we expect to receive God’s blessings, says Pastor Flemons, we will be in harmony with God’s perfect will for our lives in every particular. We must trust that God knows what is best for us. And He knows how to best prepare us for Heaven.

The favor of God ensures success. God wants us to be successful. He wants us to have His favor. But everything must be done according to His perfect will.

[For additional details, please read Exodus 39:43; Exodus 25:40; Numbers 6:22-26; and “Moses Inspects the Work” in Path to the Throne of God, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. (PTG 197 original. Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, discussed kidney stones and shared some natural remedies that might be done to promote healing. But first he advised against doing those things that cause kidney stones. He mentioned that meat and meat products, sodas, a deficiency of vitamin D and calcium, and insufficient daily water intake: all contribute to the development of kidney stones.

Then he shared some natural remedies that can bring effective relief. That includes daily drinking 1 cup of lemon juice added to water. Also, it includes adding a handful of fresh basil leaves to your vegetable juice three times a day for six weeks and then taking a break. After one week, you may resume the basil. Making a tea of the basil leaves may also be done. Daily drinking some pomegranate juice is helpful. Drinking lots of celery juice is highly recommended. He says it helps flush the kidneys. Finally, two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in 8 ounces of water may be taken. Drink this throughout the day. It is a diuretic; and alterations must be considered when also taking insulin.

(For further details, please listen to the recording.)

Words of Encouragement

Genesis 11:4  Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.(Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 42.)

John 13:1  Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 38.)

Worship: An Awe-Inspiring Procession / Wellness: Fasting and the Fountain of Youth

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  When all the particulars of the tabernacle were finished, each was carried in a most solemn and awesome procession to Moses for his inspection. Pastor Flemons read highlights, which in part read like this:

“Bezaleel of the tribe of Judah with his assistants in gold and silver and brass, in cutting of stones, and in carving of timber, brought their work which they had faithfully and skillfully and accurately done. And Aholiab of the tribe of Dan with his assistants which did the engraving, the embroidering and the weaving for all the hangings, the coverings, and the priests’ garments, came with the finished products of their labors.”

The processional was furthered detailed, including “Others of Aholiab’s trusty workers bring the white linen garments of the priests and the gorgeous garments of Aaron – the white linen coat with its exquisite tessellated embroidery, the sky blue robe with its border of tinkling gold bells and bright colored pomegranates, the wonderfully gold embroidered ephod with its shoulder clasps of engraved onyx stones and its elaborately embroidered girdle. Another carries the breastplate, its twelve precious stones glistening like diamonds and magnifying the names of the twelve tribes engraved upon it, EW 251, while another carries the holy crown with its plate of pure gold bearing the inscription, “HOLINESS TO THE LORD.”

When Jesus comes again, it is going to be a mighty glorious procession. Even greater than the second coming of Christ, says Pastor Flemons, is the time when every knee shall bow before the throne of God and confess that God is righteous and just.

[For additional details, please read Isaiah 45:23Romans 14:10, 11; and “An Awe-Inspiring Procession” in Path to the Throne of God, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. (PTG 196, 197 original. PTG 266, 267 latest edition. PTG 148, 149 online.)  Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 246, “Worthy, Worthy Is the Lamb.”]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, discussed the Bible text Matthew 17:21, which quotes Jesus advising His disciples to fast and pray for extra power to heal.

It nicely segued to the health topic of fasting to preserve youth. Fasting or a calorie reduction has been found to preserve life and youthful-looking skin. Published on health.news, the article that Pastor Flemons read details about the link between fasting and the fountain of youth. It also revealed that the effects of smoking and drinking include early aging.

The article states, “The longevity effect of calorie reduction was first discovered more than 80 years ago in studies on mice.” Still it states that “people are often unaware of the ‘amazing fact’ that wrinkles can be prevented.”

(For further details, please listen to the recording and read the full article here.)

Worship: The Tabernacle Finished! / Wellness: Power of a 10-day Test

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Whatever we venture into, we must first seek the counsel of God for success. This principle is to be applied in every situation. It may be a relationship. It may be a business venture. Doing things without God’s direction and help is sure to bring failure.

When we grow in Christ, we will be in favor with God and man. God will give us wisdom in how to proceed. If we submit to His guidance, we will be successful. We will be victorious.

In only one year, former slaves, who had been demeaned their whole lives, completed the building of the tabernacle, according to the directions of God as shown to Moses. Completing a building in one year might not sound successful, says Pastor Flemons. But when you consider what it is like to work with a group of murmuring and complaining people, it is a great feat. This is especially so, when you also consider that this was done in the desert.

Nevertheless, as Jesus said in Mark 10:27, “With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.”

[For additional details, please read Exodus 40:17; Philippians 2:13; Psalm 127:1; 11:3; Mark 10:27; 1 Corinthians 3:11; Luke 2:52; Proverbs 9:10, and “The Tabernacle Finished” in Path to the Throne of God, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. (PTG 196 original. PTG 266 latest edition. PTG 148 online.)  Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 341, “To God Be the Glory.”]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, discussed the power of a 10-day test. Using Daniel’s experience as revealed in the first chapter of Daniel, we also can be assured that changes in the diet and lifestyle for healing can be visible in ten days. If you get on God’s plan for healing, whether it’s for diabetes or hypertension or even cancer, you should notice a change in ten days.

But you must do it right, says Pastor Flemons. “Don’t do it wrong and say it doesn’t work.” He advises eating a total plant-based diet, with lots of raw vegetables and fruits. Even leave off the fruits, if you have a sugar restriction, he says. Eat leafy green vegetables and lots of sprouts, instead. This dumps toxins from the body. With cancer especially, toxic dumping in ten days can make you not feel so good. Still, you can be assured that things are happening for the better, says Pastor Flemons.

(For further details, please listen to the recording and read Daniel 1 here.)

Genesis 7:10  And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth. (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 40.)

Ezekiel 34:12  As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 36.)

Worship: Order in the Camp / Wellness: Bad Eating Habits

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Even if by nature you are not an organized person like Pastor Flemons confesses that he is, you may still bring your life into order, he says. You don’t have to allow depression to continue, because of the disorder of your space or time. For the Bible says that we should do all things “decently and in order.” (Read 1 Corinthians 14:40.)

Consider how God set things in order for the Israelites as soon as they left Egypt. There was a specific order of the tribes of Israelites around the sanctuary. It was for their training and discipline.

“Even before they left Egypt a temporary organization had been effected, and the people were arranged in companies, under appointed leaders. At Sinai the arrangements for organization were completed. The order so strikingly displayed in all the works of God was manifest in the Hebrew economy. God was the center of authority and government. Moses, as His representative, was to administer the laws in His name. Then came the council of seventy, then the priests and the princes, under these ‘captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens’ (Numbers 11:16, 17; Deuteronomy 1:15), and, lastly, officers appointed for special duties. The camp was arranged in exact order, the tabernacle, the abiding place of God, in the midst, and around it the tents of the priests and the Levites. Outside of these each tribe encamped beside its own standard.” {Ed 37.4}

To bring your personal life into order, Pastor Flemons presented SPACE, a 5-point principle of organization. First, the S: Separate everything into piles. Don’t throw anything away yet. Just simply separate everything. This way you get to see what you really have, he says. That alone brings a sense of peace into your life. Do the same thing with time management. Simply write down what you need to do. Then group them. The P is for purge what is not needed. Do this also with time management. Some things don’t deserve your time. The A is for assigning things, as God assigned an exact place for everything in the sanctuary and every tribe camped around the sanctuary. Things in your home must have an assigned place, as things to do must have an assigned block of time. The C is for containing what has been assigned to a space or time period. Finally, the E: You must periodically evaluate your space and / or your schedule. Determine whether it is working out as is or whether you need to improve it in some way.

[For additional details, please read Education, Ed 37, as well as “The Camp at Sinai” in Path to the Throne of God, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. (PTG 196 original. PTG 266 latest edition. PTG 148 online.)  Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 240, “Fairest Lord Jesus.”]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, listed a few bad eating habits and their dangers. He says bad eating habits include overeating, eating between meals, drinking with meals, chewing gum and eating candy.

Overeating produces toxins and acids in the body that lead to gas. Your stomach can hold more than what it can handle. Therefore, don’t eat until you feel bloated.

Eating between meals prevents your digestive system from resting. It will cause constipation, indigestion, acid reflux, and flatulence, which is gas. It is best to leave five resting hours between meals. Smoothies are the exception.

Drinking with meals causes the digestive juices to be watered down so that proper digestion of the meal is impaired. Indigestion and gas are the result.

Chewing gum and eating candy between meals cause the digestive juices to be excreted for digestion. But because there is no food to be digested, only acids are left in the stomach and then the blood becomes acidic. These habits also force the system continue to work, rather than to rest as needed. If you want to chew gum or eat candy, it is best done nearest mealtime.

(For further details, please listen to the recording.)

Genesis 7:1 And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 39.)

John 15:9, 10  As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.(Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 35.)

Worship: Love Covers Many Sins / Wellness: Water

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Before the angel of the Lord announced the birth of Jesus to Joseph, he was not willing to publicly expose Mary. He loved her. Although he was called her husband, they were engaged and had not come together sexually. And until that time, no one had ever become pregnant without sexual engagement.

Pastor Flemons says that even though Joseph realized that he would have been blamed for the pregnancy, he was willing also to be accused of abandoning her financially. Still, he was not willing to make her a public example. He was minded to put her away privately.

Referring to Proverbs 10:12, Pastor Flemons says, “Love covers all sin.” Unnecessarily exposing the sins of people is not what righteous people do, he says. In fact, even the heathen are to be kindly treated, prayed with, and prayed for in private. Christ kept us all from being publicly humiliated. In love, we should be willing to do the same. Christ was made to be sin for us so that we wouldn’t have to be publicly humiliated in the lake of fire, says Pastor Flemons.

Even if you have an arsenal of information against one who is publicly humiliating you, before you do anything, says Pastor Flemons, consider Joseph and pray to God.

[For additional details, please read Matthew 1:19; 1 Peter 4:8; Matthew 18:15; 2 Corinthians 5:21. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 312, “Near the Cross.”]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says water is wonderful. God gave water to us to help maintain our health and to regain it when lost. Pastor Flemons discussed the principles for consuming water a way that really helps every organ of the body.

He says that drinking an adequate supply of water every day is essential to keep all the organs of the body properly operating. A sufficient amount of water is equivalent to half of your body weight in ounces. The water should be pure and soft, like spring water. Distilled water has no minerals, but it is still pure water.

The important thing is to drink the water outside of your meals. Put at least an hour between your meals and consuming the water. Both lemon water and herbal tea count as water. Sugary liquids, however, do not.

(For further details, please listen to the recording.)
