Worship: The Church in Sardis / Wellness: If Kidneys Could Speak

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  The seven churches in the messages in Revelation 2 and 3 correspond to the general attitude of God’s professed people from Christ’s ascension to the time of His Second Coming. Pastor Flemons briefly reviewed each church and the time period. The church in Sardis, he says, began after 1798 and preceded the church that received the truth and was clothed in white raiment.

To the church in Sardis, Jesus said, “I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels” (Revelation 3:1-5).

The Protestant Reformation did not do a thorough job of truly protesting against the Papacy, says Pastor Flemons. The professed people of God must still make a choice. Will they follow God all the way? Or will they fall short, choose their own or some other way, rather than God’s way, and lose out on eternal life?

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that if your kidneys could speak, first of all, they would tell your mouth to drink more water! When too much acidity is in the bloodstream, the body will pull calcium from the bones to alkalinize the blood. The kidneys would tell the mouth to eliminate, or at least greatly decrease, the consumption of  carbonated drinks. Carbonic acids also cause the body to pull calcium out of the bones.

Of course, the kidneys would say, “Stop drinking alcohol!” There is no blessing in drinking alcoholic beverages. The blessing is in the wine that is in the cluster: grapes, or the fresh juice of grapes. That would be grape juice, people, says Pastor Flemons, who referred to Isaiah 65:8, which says that new wine is found in the cluster. When grape juice becomes fermented, it is not new wine. It is alcohol. In the Bible, both kinds are referred to as wine. And wine in its alcoholic state is a symbol of false doctrine, which is “always a negative,” says Pastor Flemons.

The kidneys would say to the mouth to stop eating meat. Meat has concentrated protein that breaks down to purines then to uric acid, which in excess burdens the kidneys. And the kidneys would tell the mouth to refrain from eating too much sugar. The kidneys are burdened with filtering out excess sugars.
