Worship: Worship Reform 2 / Wellness: Rely on God for Health

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  God instituted reforms after 1798 to prepare His people for the world’s final crisis, which will occur just prior to the Second Coming of Christ. Worship in Spirit and truth is just one of those reforms. It follows talks on Bible reform, the Spirit of Prophecy reform, Sanctuary reform, and Sabbath reform in the series “Preparation for the Final Crisis.” This is part two of Worship Reform.

Modern worship tends to be defined by a celebration in song, music, bodily swaying, and dance. But Pastor Flemons says, “When the truth is taught, that is worship.” Worship is true teaching, according to the Bible. Vain worship is the teaching of man’s commandments as though they are the doctrine of God. (Read Matthew 15:8, 9.) God is trying to help us understand, says Pastor Flemons, the importance of the truth and teaching it. Truth changes lives. (Read John 17:17.) In that process, pride, which God hates, and trusting in oneself must dissipate.

Present truth is not merely understanding end-time events, he says, but it knowing Jesus. It is also letting the church know what is dangerous to the church. It is Galatians 6:1, restoring one fallen in sin, the one who has been “overtaken in a fault.” True spirit worship is according to Philippians 3:3, says Pastor Flemons. It is having “no confidence in the flesh.” Instead, too much of what we think of our own opinions leads us far away from the mark God has set for us.

True worship is becoming like Jesus: trusting and obeying God.

[For additional details, please read John 4:24. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 590, “Trust and Obey.”]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that relying on God is the first of a 10-point lifestyle principle of health and healing. Times of Refreshing Wellness Ministry details the ten points through the acronym REFRESHING. The R is Rely on God. The E is Eat healthy. The F is Fresh air. The R is Rest. The E is Exercise. The S is Self-Control. The H is H2O-water. The I is In the sun. The N is Never give up. And the G is Give to others.

Relying on God, says Pastor Flemons, plays a huge role in our health. Relying on God minimizes stress, which prevents healing. Under stress, or rather distress, the immune system, which harnesses a lot of functional energy, becomes paralyzed and yields itself to a state of emergency. All healing is on hold, as the body is fully set for fight or flight.

The heart is on blast for full speed. Blood pressure rises. Lots of fat is emitted. The reaction produces lactic acid. The longterm effects of being in a constant state of distress, includes a buildup of lactic acid, creating a toxic environment. It is in this kind of acidic environment that disease of all kinds is encouraged.

When we trust God, we are relying on Him. Stress is relieved. Health risks are minimized. Disease is held at bay.

Sharing Time   Pastor Flemons responded to a FB comment about being married to the flesh in the old covenant.

Special Prayer  Please include in your prayers listener 1087, who asks prayer for her husband who is going through strenuous training. Also, pray for her health and that they will avoid the triggers of stress in their lives.

Sis. Rosalee, who is scheduled for cataract surgery the morning of May 1, asks that we pray for a successful surgery.

Also, pray for the favor of God and the endurance of a man who says he is falsely accused at work and is under attack. He has endured a previous accusation and, after close investigation, was found innocent. Still, there was loss of position and income that were eventually restored retroactively.
