Worship: A Call to Medical Evangelism, Pt 5 / Wellness: The Power of an Onion Poultice

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake
“As the medical missionary works upon the body, God works upon the heart.”—Manuscript 58, 1901. {CME 12.3}

“True sympathy between man and his fellow men is to be the sign distinguishing those who love and fear God from those who are unmindful of His law. How great the sympathy that Christ expressed in coming to this world to give His life a sacrifice for a dying world! His religion led to the doing of genuine medical missionary work. He was a healing power. ‘I will have mercy, and not sacrifice,’ He said. This is the test that the great Author of truth used to distinguish between true religion and false. God wants His medical missionaries to act with the tenderness and compassion that Christ would show were He in our world.”—Medical Ministry, 251. {CME 12.1}

“We shall see the medical missionary work broadening and deepening at every point of its progress, because of the inflowing of hundreds and thousands of streams, until the whole earth is covered as the waters cover the sea.”—Medical Ministry, 317. {CME 13.2}

“This is what caused our mission to shift,” says Pastor Flemons. Times of Refreshing Simplicity of Eden (TORSOE) Ministry’s vision is now to establish a facility that restores health, trains medical missionaries, and multiplies facilities around the world. When a wellness campus among the beauties of nature in the mid-Atlantic region is established where the sick can be healed, students educated, and satellite facilities multiplied on a global scale, then the vision of the TORSOE Ministry will have been realized. Restoration, education, multiplication: These are the focus.

The things that people tend to generally worry about are temporal things, says Pastor Flemons. But God has made it known that the earth and the fullness of it are all His. All God wants is for each of us to personally consecrate our service to Him and to Him alone. Will you do that for Him today?

The promise is this: “If we do our part in faith, God will open ways before us now undreamed of.”—Manuscript 12, 1913. {CME 13.1}

Wellness: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that many times all you needed for your medical emergency visit to the ER was the onion that was in your refrigerator. He discussed the power of onion poultices.

Onion poultices have been successfully used for earaches, for congestion, inflammation in an arthritic joint, for cancerous tumors, and for general detoxification of the body. Onions pull toxins out right through the skin. Pastor Flemons says that the white onion is more powerful than the red onion. Still, red onion slices can be used, when that is your best option.

Sharing and Caring Time Sis. Maria encouraged praise to God as she shared Psalm 105:1-4:

“O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth.”

Question: Should we ever use acupuncture, especially to relieve pain?

Answer: Acupuncture is associated with spiritualism. Therefore, although it can relieve pain, we should not use it under any circumstances, says Pastor Flemons.

Special Prayer  Please include in your prayers today Listener 6970, who asks that we pray for her work situation, her family, and her children. Also pray for a friend Danny who has to have gallbladder surgery. Pray for a successful surgery and a quick recovery.

Please remember to pray for families of Brittany McConnor and the other two (a man and a lady), who died in a one-car crash, after doing house-to-house ministry in Michigan near Detroit. All three funerals are scheduled for today as one memorial.

Remember to pray for Onelia of Trinidad, the 21-year-old widow, whose husband was witness to a murder case. He was gunned down with 22 bullets before he could testify. He left a young family, including an unborn child that has now been lost. The family is now struggling in so many ways, as his wife and son witnessed his murder. The total contribution that will be sent to her is $1,000. Please pray that she will not be victimized by those who would want to wrongly influence her in the use of the funds and that the funds will be protected against those who would take it for their own use or for any purpose other than that for which God approves. Thank you for your generosity.

Pray for the unspoken prayer requests of each heart.

Words of Encouragement

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. (Also read Conflict and Courage for July 6, CC 193.)

Psalm 31:22 For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee. (Also read With God at Dawn for July 6, WGD 189.)
