Worship: When Preachers Are Scared of the People, Pt 3 / Wellness: Walk!

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake
We are all affected when preachers are scared of the people, says Pastor Flemons. When for money and popularity preachers speak smooth lies to the people, rather than tell them the truth, it emboldens people to freely show selfishness. They serve themselves.

When outsiders see how so-called Christians treat each other, they stay away. They don’t become members. They realize that they are treated better than fellow members. They determine that they are better off as outsiders.

“We won’t receive the latter rain, if we don’t treat each other right,” says Pastor Flemons. He says that that is what the last half of Ezekiel 34 explains. People are normally selfish and retaliatory. But the world will know that you are a Christian because of your love for each other. (Read John 13:35.) It is the loving and lovable Christian that is the greatest example of Christianity.

God has sent a message–a special promise–for the faithful. “If we do our part in faith, God will open ways before us now undreamed of.”—Manuscript 12, 1913. {CME 13.1}

[For further details, read Ezekiel 34:17-31; John 13:35; CME 13. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 327, “I’d Rather Have Jesus.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, challenges you to help save your own life: Walk! “We lose our lives because we don’t exercise,” he says. Walking is that essential.

He says, “It will increase circulation. It will help purify your blood. It will help balance hormones.” He says that you can “believe it or not,” but often it will help “relieve some pain. There is a benefit for every system of your body: your bones, your muscles, your blood.” Besides that, Sis. Maria says that you can invite and have the experience of Jesus walking with you. She added that besides exercise, walking helps you get the fresh air you need, as well as the sunshine, and help you learn to rely on God, as you commune with Him in nature.

If you accept the challenge and do walk, please make it known! Call or text Pastor Flemons or Sis. Audrey or whatever number from which you receive the daily text. People on Facebook are encouraged to post their testimony, even if simply to say, “I walked!”

Sharing and Caring Time Sis. Maria encouraged listeners with a passage from the book Power of Prayer, a collection of quotes on prayer by Ellen G. White, Chapter 7, “The Science of Prayer,” p 22.

“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass…. He shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.” Psalm 37:5, 6. {Pr 317.5} “The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know Thy name will put their trust in Thee: for Thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek Thee.” Psalm 9:9, 10. {Pr 317.6} The compassion that God manifests toward us, He bids us manifest toward others. Let the impulsive, the self-sufficient, the revengeful, behold the meek and lowly One, led as a lamb to the slaughter, unretaliating as a sheep dumb before her shearers. Let them look upon Him whom our sins have pierced and our sorrows burdened, and they will learn to endure, to forbear, and to forgive. {Pr 317.7} Through faith in Christ, every deficiency of character may be supplied, every defilement cleansed, every fault corrected, every excellence developed.” {Pr 318.1}

“Ye are complete in Him.” Colossians 2:10

Special Prayer  Please include in your prayers today Listener 6485, who asks that we pray that she overcomes appetite. She is praying and fasting to overcome.

Please pray for 21-year-old Ornelia (correct spelling) and her two boys (not one), who witnessed the murder of husband and father, who himself was to have testified in court as a witness to a murder in Trinidad. Pastor and Sis. Maria spoke with her Monday. Please keep them and the appropriate use of the funds collected in their behalf in prayer.

Please pray for TORSOE’s mission and plans.

Pray for the unspoken prayer requests of each heart.

Words of Encouragement

Ecclesiastes 11:9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment. (Also read Conflict and Courage for July 10, CC 197.)

1 John 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.  (Also read With God at Dawn for July 10, WGD 193.)
