Worship: For Heaven’s Sake Never before in history had God’s people . . . had “occasion to kill a woman,” says Pastor Flemons. He tried to recall any other such event in previous biblical history. He referred to the story of Phinehas, who had the courage to end the plague against God’s people because of open whorish rebellion.
The Bible says that Phinehas, “went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel. And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand” (Numbers 25:8,9).
Until they sinned, God’s people could not be cursed. Balaam, the prophet of God, had been urged to curse God’s people in exchange to satisfy his greed. He could not curse God’s people. They had been faithful to God. Only blessings issued from his mouth. This is what Balaam knew in the words of Pastor Flemons: “Demons have no power over us, unless we allow them” through sinning. Therefore, Balaam used women to seduce the men of God to cause them to sin, so that God’s protection would be removed from them.
We all must beware. The devil will use even the God-given softness of a woman to bring harm to the people of God. Phinehas shows to the world for all time that there comes a time to act, not simply pray. We are told, “He who does nothing but pray will soon cease to pray” (SC 101.1). We are also told, “It is the very essence of all right faith to do the right thing at the right time” (6T 24.3). The courage and faith that Phinehas showed in bringing an end to the fierce plague against God’s people makes Phinehas one of the few to whom so many owe so much.

Worship: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that true health is physical, mental and spiritual health. It’s wholeness. Those who are whole do not need to see a doctor, he said, referring to the statement of Jesus in Matthew 9:12. It says, “They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.”
When you are sick, he says, this is the time to wholly depend on God, even if you cannot understand what or why it is happening to you. Depending on God helps to bring healing. Spiritual and mental health are essential to wholeness. To see that, says Pastor Flemons, you only need to look at the stress factor involved in so many diseases. And he listed a few of them: fibroid tumors, breast cancer, prostate cancer, diabetes. Because of stress, true healing must involve the spiritual and mental healing as well. Otherwise, he says that you cannot get well.

Step 2: Pray in the name of Jesus on the basis of what He did. Read John 14:13, 14.
