Worship: Caleb, One of the Few / Wellness: Watch “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead”

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake
If the world calls you a senior, listen to this, says Pastor Flemons. He shared a reading that demonstrates the Bible version of retirement in the story of Caleb. The following two paragraphs are excerpts.

“Before the distribution of the land had been entered upon, Caleb, accompanied by the heads of his tribe, came forward with a special claim. Except Joshua, Caleb was now the oldest man in Israel. Caleb and Joshua were the only ones among the spies who had brought a good report of the Land of Promise, encouraging the people to go up and possess it in the name of the Lord. Caleb now reminded Joshua of the promise then made, as the reward of his faithfulness: ‘The land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s forever, because thou hast wholly followed the Lord.’ He therefore presented a request that Hebron be given him for a possession. Here had been for many years the home of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and here, in the cave of Machpelah, they were buried. Hebron was the seat of the dreaded Anakim, whose formidable appearance had so terrified the spies, and through them destroyed the courage of all Israel. This, above all others, was the place which Caleb, trusting in the strength of God, chose for his inheritance.” {PP 511.4}

“Caleb obtained the inheritance upon which his heart had been set for forty years, and, trusting in God to be with him, he ‘drove thence the three sons of Anak.’ Having thus secured a possession for himself and his house, his zeal did not abate; he did not settle down to enjoy his inheritance, but pushed on to further conquests for the benefit of the nation and the glory of God.” {PP 513.1}

According to Corrie ten Boom, says Pastor Flemons, retirement is simply getting new tires for your car! Essentially, Caleb displayed the same belief. Because of Caleb’s attitude toward working for the Lord in conquering giants on behalf of God’s people in the face of unimaginable difficulty, especially at his age, he is one of the few to whom so many owe so much.

Worship: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that you don’t have to fast for sixty days, like Joe Cross did. However, the story of Joe Cross, as highlighted in “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead,” is an impactful film that underscores the value of a healthy diet. “You need to watch it,” says Pastor Flemons.

Healing is not just physical. It is spiritual. The film makes that evident, although the Bible is not the primary subject of the film.

Genesis 1:29 reveals God’s original diet for mankind. It is a whole-food, plant-based diet of nuts, grains, fruits, and vegetables. Deviation from that original dietary plan is the reason there are so many diseases that are overtaking humanity. Over a ten-year period, cancer, heart attacks and strokes kill more people than did the Holocaust, says Pastor Flemons.

He invites you to watch “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” and to join us in doing your own liquid 10-day fast beginning August 1. Recipes and a shopping list will be shared in the days prior to August 1. Keep listening!

Sharing and Caring Time  Sis. Maria encouraged listeners with Steps 3 through 5 of Pastor Randy Skeete’s “How to Get Your Prayers Answered.”

Step 1: Pray to God, the Father, not to the Holy Ghost or to Jesus: John 17:1, 5, 11, 24, 25.

Step 2: Pray in the name of Jesus on the basis of what He did. Read John 14:13, 14.

Step 3: Pray through the Spirit. Romans 8:9.

Step 4: Pray according to God’s will. 1 John 5:14.

Step 5: Pray in faith (live the prayer). Mark 11:24.

Step 6: Pray without ceasing. Genesis 25:21, 26.

Step 7: Put away sin! Psalm 66:18.

Step 8: Receive God’s word willingly. Proverbs 28:9.

Sis. Chester posed a question to Pastor Flemons about how to deal with being a plain straight-forward person who does not compromise with evil and speaks truth. The concern is that she receives no calls from well-wishers. Please keep her and them in prayer.

Special Prayer  Please include in your prayers today Listener Bro. Chester, who asks that we pray for him. He must have a procedure done tomorrow morning. Pray that it be successful. Also pray for family in Guyana.

Sis. David shared a testimony of health and her ability to witness at the age of 94. Please pray for those to whom God has allowed her to witness to for Him.

Pray for Audrey’s friend, that the arthritis in her knee will be healed. Thank you for prayers already answered. Her granddaughter found her own place to live right on time!

Please pray for one of our playback listeners, who struggles with suicidal tendencies.

Please pray for TORSOE’s mission and plans and for our liquid fast from August 1 to August 10.

Pray for the unspoken prayer requests of each heart.
