Worship: For Heaven’s Sake DNA has clear identifying marks that can unquestionably point to the guilty and clear the innocent, after more than thirty years of unjust incarceration. In the same way, Matthew 24:48-51, show that the professed Christian who smites his fellow servants (Christian brethren) and who eats and drinks with the drunken are the ones guilty of hypocrisy. The Christian has clear identifying marks also. One is that they will have “love one to another,” according to John 13:35. Jesus says in John 17:21, that they will be unified as one, as is His Father and Himself.
Too often, says Pastor Flemons, Christians are “blaming others and never looking to themselves.” The problem is in neglecting the Word of God. For those, the hour of God’s judgment will come at a time when they are ill-prepared. In fact, Malachi says that the Lord will “suddenly come to his temple,” the place of judgment.
[For additional details, please read Matthew 24:45-51; Romans 6:16; John 13:35; John 17; Malachi 3:1; Daniel 7:13; and GC 424. Also listen to the recording, which includes Pastor Flemons singing Hymn 311, “I Would Be Like Jesus.”]
Wellness: For Health’s Sake Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that documentary films such as “What the Health?” and “Forks Over Knives” will tell you that nutrition is critical to one’s health. Your own common sense will also tell you that doctors, therefore, ought to be nutrition experts. Sadly, that is not the case. And there is good reason that they are not.
Of the 126 medical schools that existed in 2004, 106 responded to a survey. Here’s what was found. “Ninety-nine of the 106 schools responding required some form of nutrition education; however, only 32 schools (30%) required a separate nutrition course. On average, students received 23.9 contact hours of nutrition instruction during medical school (range: 2–70 h). Only 40 schools required the minimum 25 h recommended by the National Academy of Sciences. Most instructors (88%) expressed the need for additional nutrition instruction at their institutions.”
Over the two decades prior to the survey, “numerous entreaties” were made to “improve the nutrition knowledge and skills of medical students and physicians.” The need still exists. It is evident in the experience of patients on a daily basis. (For further details, please listen to the recording.
