Worship: Justification and Sanctification Explained / Wellness: Curing Coughing

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  “Justification,” says Pastor Flemons, “is the work of a moment. Sanctification is the work of a lifetime.”

When you confess your sins, the righteous, spotless life of Christ becomes your life for past sins. This is justification. It is instant. It is as though you never sinned. It is a free gift of Jesus, which is received by faith (Romans 5:16, 18).

Sanctification, on the other hand, is a daily process, a moment by moment surrendering of your will to the will of God. It is dying daily to selfishness and living unto God by keeping the heart pure through obedience to the truth. The Apostle Paul describes it as working out “your own salvation with fear and trembling” (Phillippians 2:12). It is a threefold growth experience through daily Bible study, prayer and service.

“The first experience, justification, is our ‘title to heaven,’ the second, sanctification, is our ‘fitness for heaven.’ R&H June 4, 1895. The Spirit of God received into the heart by faith, is the beginning of the life eternal.”

[For additional details, please read Romans 3:20, 24; 5:16, 18; Philippians 2:12; Matthew 4:4; 5:48; James 2:16, 17; 1 John 1:9; John 17:3, 17; 6:54; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; 1 Peter 1:2; 1 Corinthians 15:31; and “Sanctification, Its Relation to Justification” in The Path to the Throne of God: The Sanctuary, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. (PTG 145 original; PTG 199 new edition; PTG 111 online) Also please listen to the recording and hear Pastor Flemons sing “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that it may not be necessary to cure the cough. Rather, discover the reason for the cough. The body is likely coughing to expel toxins in form of mucus from the system.

Nevertheless, he says watch and limit the amount of protein in your diet. Eat lot of fruits and vegetables. And drink lots of water, at least half of your body’s weight in ounces.

Take elderberry syrup as you would any cough syrup, by the spoonful or shot glass. It has immune-building properties. It naturally improves “colds, the flu, sinus issues, nerve pain, inflammation, chronic fatigue, allergies, constipation and even cancer.”

Other remedies include Rocket Fuel, hydrotherapy, fomentations and fever baths. For those and additional details, please listen to the recording.

Words of Encouragement

Isaiah 53:6  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. (Also read CSA 39.1, 39.2.)

Luke 23:46, 47   And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man. (Also read CSA 39.6, 39.7.)
