Words of Encouragement

Psalm 145:15  The eyes of all wait upon thee; And thou givest them their meat in due season.

Zephaniah 3:13 The remnant of Israel will not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

For Heaven’s Sake…

When he arrived, he settled with others around the community well and prayed that God would bring Isaac’s chosen companion to the well. He prayed that she would show graciousness and generosity to him. Before he finished praying, Rebekah arrived at the well. She showed him kindness in offering him a drink of water. She even offered to water his camels, just as he prayed.

Eliezer bowed and worshipped once he learned that she was the granddaughter of Abraham’s brother, Nahor. Eliezer then told of his intended journey on behalf of her great uncle Abraham. After being taken to the home of Nahor, Eliezer refused to eat until he told his testimony and set forth his intentions on behalf of his master Abraham.

This biblical blind date and marriage was successful because it was done according to God’s will. The two were not unequally yoked. Even though Isaac was forty years old, he obediently agreed to his godly father’s wisdom in directing his future marital happiness. Isaac loved Rebekah. And Rebekah comforted Isaac after his mother’s death.

For Health’s Sake…

The R in REFRESHING is “Rely on God.” Relying on God is critical for health. God is the true healer. Life is in Him, alone. For man cannot live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD. (Read Matthew 4:4.) Whatever God has promised in His word is bankable.

Relying on God removes or at least balances the stresses of life. That alone is healing. Stress dumps toxins into the bloodstream, causing it to become acidic. An acidic bloodstream weakens the immune system and makes the body susceptible to disease, as life is in the blood, according to Leviticus 17:11.

Remember this:

Stress hinders digestion and leads to a lack of absorption and an increased constipation.

Stress inhibits immune function and contributes to cancer and other diseases resulting from an inefficient immune system.

Because stress hinders peristalsis, acids are left too long in the stomach. This builds up pressure, causing the lower esophageal sphincter to open, which allows acids to enter the esophagus. The result is acid reflux.

Because stress hinders peristalsis, acids are left too long in the stomach. This causes erosion of the mucus lining and leads to gastritis and ulcers.

In short, excessive stress builds up toxins in the food tube. This contributes to IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), colorectal cancers, pancreatitis, and other conditions of the digestive system.

We can be sure of asking and receiving whatever God has promised in His word. He has promised this: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee” (Isaiah 26:3). Where there is perfect peace, there is no stress. And perfect peace benefits health.
