Words of Encouragement

For Heaven’s Sake…
Jacob needed Esau to know that Jacob had no material need. He needed Esau to know that the material possessions of their father Isaac would remain in Esau’s hand. Therefore, Jacob strategized their arrival.
He sent messengers ahead to the land of Seir to announce his arrival. They would introduce Jacob as Esau’s servant. They would present gifts for Esau and tell of Jacob’s wealth. The gifts would arrive in succession by droves.
Having finally sent everyone ahead of him, including his children and their mothers, Jacob remained in the rear alone. He was fully aware of region and its dangers. Soon Jacob found himself wrestling all night long with a man until dawn, when the man simply touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh. In that instant, Jacob’s thigh went out of joint. Suddenly crippled, Jacob recognized that this was no mere man, but a heavenly being. With new persistence, Jacob held on, vowing to not let go until he was blessed.
During the struggle, the sense of Jacob’s “guilt pressed upon his soul; his sins rose up before him, to shut him out from God. But in his terrible extremity he remembered God’s promises, and his whole heart went out in entreaty for His mercy. PP196.3
“Such will be the experience of God’s people in their final struggle with the powers of evil. God will test their faith, their perseverance, their confidence in His power to deliver them. Satan will endeavor to terrify them with the thought that their cases are hopeless; that their sins have been too great to receive pardon. They will have a deep sense of their shortcomings, and as they review their lives their hopes will sink. But remembering the greatness of God’s mercy, and their own sincere repentance, they will plead His promises made through Christ to helpless, repenting sinners. Their faith will not fail because their prayers are not immediately answered. They will lay hold of the strength of God, as Jacob laid hold of the Angel, and the language of their souls will be, ‘I will not let Thee go, except Thou bless me.’”PP 202.1
“Jacob had received the blessing for which his soul had longed. His sin as a supplanter and deceiver had been pardoned. The crisis in his life was past. Doubt, perplexity, and remorse had embittered his existence, but now all was changed; and sweet was the peace of reconciliation with God. Jacob no longer feared to meet his brother. God, who had forgiven his sin, could move the heart of Esau also to accept his humiliation and repentance.” PP 198.1
God did move the heart of Esau. In an attitude of repentance and humility, Jacob “bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother. And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept” (Genesis 33:3, 4).

For Health’s Sake…
Exercise aids digestion in several ways. It improves the circulation of blood and the lymph through the digestive organs. The renal system is heavily embedded in the lymph system, which is moved by muscle contraction, not the heart, says Pastor Flemons. The more we exercise then, he says, the more the blood and lymph are moved along. And this helps in the prevention of cancer and other diseases of the digestive system.
Exercise eliminates toxins from the body through perspiration. This removes the burden on the immune system and colon as an organ of elimination, because internally waste will move from one organ of elimination to the other. The skin is the only organ that cannot be overburdened. Therefore, the more we exercise the more through perspiration toxins can be removed from the body without a burden.
Exercise lowers blood sugar and takes the burden off of the pancreas. The pancreas, then, is able to produce less insulin and function more efficiently in its digestive role.
Exercise strengthens the immune system. This prevents autoimmune diseases, such as Crohn’s disease. It also helps prevent cancers of the colon and cancers of the digestive tract.
Exercise prevents constipation by promoting peristalsis. Simply walking causes the colon, which is suspended by ligaments, to gently bounce. This nudges and massages the colon wall, promoting peristalsis and thus bowel movement. Acids are able to be excreted from the body. This lowers acid damage and toxic buildup along the walls of the food tube. It lowers pressure on the stomach, which if left unrelieved, leads to diverticulosis and a host of other digestive conditions, like acid reflux, ulcers, and gastritis.
As it is with the moral law, so it is with the laws of health. You can keep all the laws of health, except one, like exercise, and still get sick. “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all” (James 2:10).
