Words of Encouragement
Psalm 107:8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
Colossians 3:1-2 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
For Heaven’s Sake…
“God has a church. It is not the great cathedral, neither is it the national establishment, neither is it the various denominations; it is the people who love God and keep His commandments. ‘Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them’ (Matthew 18:20). Where Christ is even among the humble few, this is Christ’s church, for the presence of the High and Holy One who inhabiteth eternity can alone constitute a church. {UL 315.5}”
“The enemy of souls has sought to bring in the supposition that a great reformation was to take place among Seventh-day Adventists, and that this reformation would consist in giving up the doctrines which stand as the pillars of our faith, and engaging in a process of reorganization. Were this reformation to take place, what would result? The principles of truth that God in His wisdom has given to the remnant church, would be discarded. Our religion would be changed. The fundamental principles that have sustained the work […] would be accounted as error. A new organization would be established. Books of a new order would be written. A system of intellectual philosophy would be introduced. The founders of this system would go into the cities, and do a wonderful work. The Sabbath of course, would be lightly regarded, as also the God who created it. Nothing would be allowed to stand in the way of the new movement. The leaders would teach that virtue is better than vice, but God being removed, they would place their dependence on human power, which, without God, is worthless. Their foundation would be built on the sand, and storm and tempest would sweep away the structure. {1SM 204.2}”
That was prophesied prior to the author’s death over a hundred years ago. Time and again, when God’s people fed their desire to be like the world and gave little heed to prophetic warnings, God sent destruction upon them. So it was then. So it will be now.
“Severer and yet more severe chastisements were to be inflicted upon the rebellious nation, until at last the entire land was to become a desolation, Jerusalem was to be laid waste and burned with fire, the temple that Solomon had built was to be destroyed, and the kingdom of Judah was to fall, never again to occupy its former position among the nations of earth. {PK 422.2}
“Those times of change, so fraught with peril to the Israelitish nation, were marked with many messages from Heaven through Jeremiah. Thus the Lord gave the children of Judah ample opportunity of freeing themselves from entangling alliances with Egypt, and of avoiding controversy with the rulers of Babylon. As the threatened danger came closer, he taught the people by means of a series of acted parables, hoping thus to arouse them to a sense of their obligation to God, and also to encourage them to maintain friendly relations with the Babylonian government. {PK 423.1}
“To illustrate the importance of yielding implicit obedience to the requirements of God, Jeremiah gathered some Rechabites into one of the chambers of the temple and set wine before them, inviting them to drink. As was to have been expected, he met with remonstrance and absolute refusal. ‘We will drink no wine,’ the Rechabites firmly declared, ‘for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons forever.’ {PK 423.2}
“Then came the word of the Lord unto Jeremiah, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye not receive instruction to hearken to My words? saith the Lord. The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are performed; for unto this day they drink none, but obey their father’s commandment.” Jeremiah 35:6, 12-14 {PK 423.3}
“When men’s hearts are softened and subdued by the constraining influence of the Holy Spirit, they will give heed to counsel; but when they turn from admonition until their hearts become hardened, the Lord permits them to be led by other influences. Refusing the truth, they accept falsehood, which becomes a snare to their own destruction. {PK 425.1}
“The lesson is for us. If the requirements of a good and wise father, who took the best and most effectual means to secure his posterity against the evils of intemperance, were worthy of strict obedience, surely God’s authority should be held in as much greater reverence as He is holier than man. Our Creator and our Commander, infinite in power, terrible in judgment, seeks by every means to bring men to see and repent of their sins. By the mouth of His servants He predicts the dangers of disobedience; He sounds the note of warning and faithfully reproves sin. His people are kept in prosperity only by His mercy, through the vigilant watchcare of chosen instrumentalities. He cannot uphold and guard a people who reject His counsel and despise His reproofs. For a time He may withhold His retributive judgments; yet He cannot always stay His hand. {PK 425.4}”

For Health’s Sake…
This unnamed friend shrank esophageal cancer at the Times of Refreshing Wellness Ministry retreat, when doctors had discouraged him from attending. They assured him that with the aggressive cancer, he would not live past a few weeks without their medical treatment. Still, he decided to attend the TOR wellness retreat to build up his system. He agreed to do chemotherapy after the wellness retreat. Doctors were amazed at his quick recovery without the usual side effects of chemotherapy. However, like Pastor Flemons has often mentioned, drugs don’t cure; usually, the disease is simply relocated and over time, reappears.
The friend is now suffering from cancer in the liver and was on morphine when he recently contacted his medical missionary friend, Pastor Flemons. With wellness retreats on hold until property is secured, they decided coaching in his own home was the next best option. Without prior consultation, however, the friend chose to go off the morphine and simply follow the regimen Pastor Flemons had chosen for him. Unexpectedly, he announced having stopped his morphine medication and was experiencing absolutely no withdrawal symptoms.
What made the difference? Juicing! Pastor Flemons had put him on a 96-ounce daily juicing regimen. The contents included carrots, celery (with its super calming effect), cucumber, and swiss chard, tweaked with whole organic lemons, ginger, and Granny Smith apples.
Addictions may present a mountain of difficulties. They can, however, disappear with prayer and fasting. Juice fasting is called juice feasting at Times of Refreshing. It is part of our ten-point biblical wellness lifestyle program.
This ten-point biblical wellness lifestyle called REFRESHING encourages relying on God; eating healthy; getting fresh air, rest, and exercise; using self-control; drinking H2O or water; getting in the sun; never giving up; and giving to others.
