Words of Encouragement
John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
For Heaven’s Sake…
Church leaders, both in Christ’s day and now, who fear the loss of influence and power will resort to exerting their own authority, while both belittling and seemingly supporting the principles in God’s word. That was the case in the scene where the woman was caught in adultery and presented to Jesus. They wanted to belittle Jesus Himself, to destroy His influence, and if necessary, kill Him to save their own pride and position.
“On the first day of His presence at the feast, the rulers had come to Him, demanding by what authority He taught. They wished to divert attention from Him to the question of His right to teach, and thus to their own importance and authority. DA 455.1
“‘My teaching is not Mine,’ said Jesus, ‘but His that sent Me. If any man willeth to do His will, he shall know of the teaching, whether it be of God, or whether I speak from Myself.’ John 7:16, 17, R. V. The question of these cavilers Jesus met, not by answering the cavil, but by opening up truth vital to the salvation of the soul. The perception and appreciation of truth, He said, depends less upon the mind than upon the heart. Truth must be received into the soul; it claims the homage of the will. If truth could be submitted to the reason alone, pride would be no hindrance in the way of its reception. But it is to be received through the work of grace in the heart; and its reception depends upon the renunciation of every sin that the Spirit of God reveals. Man’s advantages for obtaining a knowledge of the truth, however great these may be, will prove of no benefit to him unless the heart is open to receive the truth, and there is a conscientious surrender of every habit and practice that is opposed to its principles. To those who thus yield themselves to God, having an honest desire to know and to do His will, the truth is revealed as the power of God for their salvation. These will be able to distinguish between him who speaks for God, and him who speaks merely from himself. The Pharisees had not put their will on the side of God’s will. They were not seeking to know the truth, but to find some excuse for evading it; Christ showed that this was why they did not understand His teaching. DA 455.3
“He now gave a test by which the true teacher might be distinguished from the deceiver: ‘He that speaketh from himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh the glory of Him that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.’ John 7:18, R. V. He that seeketh his own glory is speaking only from himself. The spirit of self-seeking betrays its origin. But Christ was seeking the glory of God. He spoke the words of God. This was the evidence of His authority as a teacher of the truth. DA 456.1

For Health’s Sake. . .
“What the Health” can be freely accessed on YouTube in English and Spanish. It is also available on NetFlix. It opens with a simple piece of advice: “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food,” the famous Hippocratic statement, which is also the premise by which Times of Refreshing operates. Dr. Robert Ratner of the American Diabetes Association is the first interviewee. He opens with an alarming statistic: that 350 million people worldwide are diabetics. He passionately lays out the reasons why the world should pay attention to this urgent problem. Then, he flat out refuses to discuss diet.
Pastor Flemons mentioned several other alarming statistics brought to light in the documentary. For instance, in the U. S. one out of every four deaths is from cancer. Bacon and sausage are determined by the World Health Organization (WHO) to be carcinogenic to humans. Yet, the American Cancer Society encourages eating turkey and canned meats, in its own “Shopping List: Basic Ingredients for a Healthy Kitchen.” In the next twenty-five years, 1 out of every 3 Americans is expected to have diabetes. Times of Refreshing Wellness Ministry exists and is working to both prevent such statistics from becoming a reality and safely and naturally minister to people to bring them back to health if they do become part of those statistics.
Times of Refreshing promotes a REFRESHING Way lifestyle that is in essence biblical wellness. It is Relying on God; Eating healthy; getting Fresh air, while also getting adequate Rest and Exercise; using Self-control; drinking sufficient H2O-water; spending at least 20 minutes daily In the sun; Never giving up; and Giving to others.
