Worship: Solomon, One of the Few / Wellness: Juice and Smoothie for Better Vision

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake
Repent of your evil dreams. We are responsible for the decisions we make, even in our dreams. Pastor Flemons explained why.

It was in a dream that Solomon asked for wisdom rather than riches. And God honored his request, as though done fully conscious. When asked, God gives wisdom–always. This one experience of Solomon teaches the world that we are responsible for our inmost thoughts and that God is honored when we ask Him for divine wisdom. Hence, the reason Solomon is one of the few to whom so many owe so much.

[For further details, read 1 Kings 3 and listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons.]

Sharing and Caring Time  Sis. Maria encouraged listeners with a passage of reading from the book Power of Prayer, a collection of statements on prayer by Ellen G. White, particularly from the section titled “The Privilege of Prayer,” Chapter 1, p. 9. [Another source of the same quote is used below.]

“. . . When He brings His people into strait places, then it is their privilege to assemble together for prayer, remembering that all things come of God. Those who have not yet shared in the trying experiences that attend the work in these last days will soon have to pass through scenes that will severely test their confidence in God. It is at the time His people see no way to advance, when the Red Sea is before them and the pursuing army behind, that God bids them: ‘Go forward.’ Thus He is working to test their faith. When such experiences come to you, go forward, trusting in Christ. Walk step by step in the path He marks out. Trials will come, but go forward. This will give you an experience that will strengthen your faith in God and fit you for truest service.” {9T 273.2}

“It is a wonderful thing that we can pray effectually; that unworthy, erring mortals possess the power of offering their requests to God. What higher power can man desire than this,—to be linked with the infinite God? Feeble, sinful man has the privilege of speaking to his Maker. We may utter words that reach the throne of the Monarch of the universe. We may speak with Jesus as we walk by the way, and He says, I am at thy right hand. [See Psalm 16:8.] {GW 258.1}

Special Prayer  Please include in your prayers today Listener 6557, who made no special request.

Pray for Sis. Wanda, as she does the 10-day fast and witnesses to those around her, especially for those co-workers who are planning to join her in the fast.

Pray for a caller’s sons who have sore throats. And pray for her mother who must make a decision. Pray for divine wisdom.

Please keep Sis. Audrey in prayer, that she will never again disappoint God and be sealed in the righteousness of Christ.

Words of Encouragement

1 Kings 19:14  And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. (Also read 1 Kings 19:8-18 and Conflict and Courage for July 29, CC 216.)

Psalm 55:16, 17 As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me. Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.  (Also read With God at Dawn for July 29, WGD 212.)

Worship: David, One of the Few / Wellness: Juice and Smoothie for Digestive Disturbances

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake
Where is your faith? Pastor Flemons discussed the life of David, who stands as an example of sheer faith in God’s power for moving mountains of difficulty. David, as a “young stripling” bravely opposed the giant Goliath of the Philistines, who challenged any warrior of Israel to one-on-one combat with him. Supposing himself to be the obvious winner, Goliath unflinchingly charged the loser and his nation to be the servants of the winner. Goliath continued to taunt and fearlessly curse the God of Israel before the trembling nation, without any response, until David saw the scene.

With only five smooth stones, a simple sling, and a rare experience in God’s power to deliver, David defended the honor of God. David charged toward the giant, claiming that the battle was not his, but the Lord’s. Although Goliath was fully fitted for battle in an impenetrable armor, David’s faith in God proved no match for the heathen giant. Until the day he slew Goliath, “David had manifested daring, courage, and strength but rarely witnessed.” Since then, his faith is a testimony for all the world for all time and is the reason he is one of the few to whom so many owe so much.

[For further details, read Ellen G. White’s Patriarchs and Prophets, Chapter 63, “David and Goliath” PP 643, based on 1 Samuel 16:14-23; 17. Also, please listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 304, “Faith of Our Fathers.”]

Worship: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, and Sis. Maria discussed TORSOE’s (Times of Refreshing Simplicity of Eden) 10-day fast for spiritual cleansing and healing, which begins August 1. Sis. Maria shared two more recipes to use during the liquid fast by anyone, but especially for those with digestive disturbances. These drinks will help heal the gut.

The TORSOE Good Digestion Celery Juice

Juice

  • 2 lbs, organic celery (washed, soaked and chopped)
  • 2 large organic cucumbers
  • 1 large orange
  • 1/2 lemon

This makes 32 ounces of juice, which may be taken throughout the day or four times over the course of the day, when drinking 8 ounces each time.

The TORSOE Ginger Mango Green Smoothie

Blend

  • 1 cup, coconut water
  • 3 to 4 leaves, kale
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 cup, frozen mango
  • 1 T, fresh ginger root (peeled and roughly chopped)
  • 2 capsules emptied into smoothie (Recommended: Renew Life Ultimate Flora Probiotics. Available at Amazon. It is soy free, dairy free, gluten free.)

They emphasized that you don’t need to have digestive problems to enjoy these drinks, which may be taken throughout the day. Juice and smoothie recipes have already been provided for diabetes, hypertension, cancer, anemia, and arthritis. Monday through Wednesday, recipes will target poor eyesight, the immune system, and sleep disorders. Pastor Flemons advises visiting TORSOE’s online store for tonic and tea products that are designed to help heal the conditions already mentioned. For digestive issues, he recommends taking TORSOE’s Tummy Soother.

[For further details, please listen to the recording, and visit this link to find details of the organic protein powder recommended for the arthritis smoothie.]

“The disciples no longer had any distrust of the future. They knew that Jesus was in heaven, and that His sympathies were with them still. They knew that they had a friend at the throne of God, and they were eager to present their requests to the Father in the name of Jesus. In solemn awe they bowed in prayer, repeating the assurance, ‘Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in My name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.’ John 16:23, 24. They extended the hand of faith higher and higher, with the mighty argument, ‘It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.’ Romans 8:34. And Pentecost brought them fullness of joy in the presence of the Comforter, even as Christ had promised.” {DA 833.1}

“. . . They do not realize what a great privilege and necessity are prayer, repentance, and the doing of the words of Christ. It is the office of the Holy Spirit to reveal to the mind the character of the consecration that God will accept. Through the agency of the Holy Spirit, the soul is enlightened, and the character is renewed, sanctified, and uplifted.” {1SM 134.1}

“There are few who rightly appreciate or improve the precious privilege of prayer.  We should go to Jesus and tell Him all our needs. We may bring Him our little cares and perplexities as well as our greater troubles. Whatever arises to disturb or distress us, we should take it to the Lord in prayer. When we feel that we need the presence of Christ at every step, Satan will have little opportunity to intrude his temptations. It is his studied effort to keep us away from our best and most sympathizing friend. We should make no one our confidant but Jesus. We can safely commune with Him of all that is in our hearts.—(Testimonies for the Church 5:200, 201.) {Pr 8.3}

Special Prayer  Please include in your prayers today Listener 9099, who made no verbal request.

Words of Encouragement

1 Kings 19:18  Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him. (Also read 1 Kings 19:8-18 and Conflict and Courage for July 28, CC 215.)

Worship: Samuel, One of the Few / Wellness: Juice and Smoothie for Arthritis

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake
Samuel was still a child when God chose to speak to him prophetically. “God could not communicate with the high priest and his sons; their sins, like a thick cloud, had shut out the presence of His Holy Spirit.” God’s first message to Samuel was a terrible and appalling reproof to the unfaithful High Priest Eli and his house. The message was tremblingly received but faithfully delivered by the young Samuel when questioned by Eli. Although the message from God went unheeded and Israel at last lost the ark of the Lord to the Philistines, the enemies of the Lord, Samuel’s faithfulness as a mouthpiece for God was established for all time.

Thousands of centuries later, Samuel is still noted as “a great and good prophet and an eminent judge,” who had “from his youth up” walked before Israel in the integrity of his heart.” His service preceded Saul, who reigned over Israel as its first king. Yet, “Samuel had wielded a more powerful influence than he, because his record was one of faithfulness, obedience, and devotion. We read that he judged Israel all the days of his life.” {PP 663.1} And that is why Samuel is one of the few to whom so many owe so much.

[For further details, read Ellen G. White’s Patriarchs and Prophets, Chapter 57, “The Ark Taken by the Philistines” PP 581, based on 1 Samuel 3-7. (Please note that Samuel’s life spans to PP 664.3 of chapter 65, “The Magnanimity of David” and to 1 Samuel 28:3.) Also, please listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons.]

Worship: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, and Sis. Maria discussed TORSOE’s (Times of Refreshing Simplicity of Eden) 10-day fast for spiritual cleansing and healing, which begins August 1. Sis. Maria shared two more recipes to use during the fast by anyone, but especially for those with arthritis.

The TORSOE Antiinflammatory Green Juice

  • 2 cups, spinach
  • 1/2 bunch, flat leaf parsley
  • 2 large Granny Smith apples
  • 1/2 lemon (with the peel)

The TORSOE Pineapple-Turmeric Smoothie

  • 2 c, unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 c, pineapple chunks
  • 1 T, ginger root (peeled and grated)
  • 1/2 c., vegan vanilla protein powder (gluten-free and NonGMO)
  • 1 t., turmeric powder

Directions: Blend and enjoy!

They emphasized that you don’t have to have arthritis to enjoy these drinks. This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to do some physical and spiritual fall cleaning, they say, and fall in line with God’s will.

Pastor Flemons says, “If we can overcome on the point of appetite, we will have moral power to overcome every other temptation of Satan.” He added that the kind of faith that moves mountains of difficulty comes only by prayer and fasting.

“The controlling power of appetite will prove the ruin of thousands, when, if they had conquered on this point, they would have had moral power to gain the victory over every other temptation of Satan. But those who are slaves to appetite will fail in perfecting Christian character. The continual transgression of man for six thousand years has brought sickness, pain, and death as its fruits. And as we near the close of time, Satan’s temptation to indulge appetite will be more powerful and more difficult to overcome.”—Testimonies for the Church 3:491, 492, 1875 {CD 59.3}

“86. He who cherishes the light which God has given him upon health reform has an important aid in the work of becoming sanctified through the truth, and fitted for immortality.—[Christian Temperance and Bible Hygiene, 10] Counsels on Health, 22, 1890  {CD 59.4}

White, particularly from the section titled “The Privilege of Prayer,” Chapter 1, p. 9. [Another source of the same quote is used below.]

Every Sincere Prayer Is Heard—As yet the disciples were unacquainted with the Saviour’s unlimited resources and power. He said to them, ‘Hitherto have ye asked nothing in My name.’ John 16:24. He explained that the secret of their success would be in asking for strength and grace in His name. He would be present before the Father to make request for them. The prayer of the humble suppliant He presents as His own desire in that soul’s behalf. Every sincere prayer is heard in heaven. It may not be fluently expressed; but if the heart is in it, it will ascend to the sanctuary where Jesus ministers, and He will present it to the Father without one awkward, stammering word, beautiful and fragrant with the incense of His own perfection. {Pr 13.3}

“The path of sincerity and integrity is not a path free from obstruction, but in every difficulty we are to see a call to prayer. There is no one living who has any power that he has not received from God, and the source whence it comes is open to the weakest human being. ‘Whatsoever ye shall ask in My name,’ said Jesus, ‘that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask anything in My name, I will do it.’  {Pr 13.4}

“’In My name,’ Christ bade His disciples pray. In Christ’s name His followers are to stand before God. Through the value of the sacrifice made for them, they are of value in the Lord’s sight. Because of the imputed righteousness of Christ they are accounted precious. For Christ’s sake the Lord pardons those that fear Him. He does not see in them the vileness of the sinner. He recognizes in them the likeness of His Son, in whom they believe.”—(The Desire of Ages, 667.) {Pr 14.1}

Special Prayer  Please include in your prayers today Listener 3637 (Bro. Words of Encouragement

1 Kings 19:9  And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?  (Also read 1 Kings 19:8-18 and Conflict and Courage for July 27, CC 214.)

Psalm 5:3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. (Also read With God at Dawn for July 27, WGD 210.)

Worship: Hannah, One of the Few / Wellness: Juice and Smoothie for Anemia

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake
Samuel was the prayed-for child of Hannah, who was the wife in derision because for years she could bear no child. God heard and answered her prayer with a son. And she in turn devoted him to God–not only in heart but in deed. She weaned the child and then took him to the sanctuary and placed him in the service of God under the high priest, Eli.

“It was not customary for the Levites to enter upon their peculiar services until they were twenty-five years of age, but Samuel had been an exception to this rule. Every year saw more important trusts committed to him; and while he was yet a child, a linen ephod was placed upon him as a token of his consecration to the work of the sanctuary. These were at first very humble, and not always pleasant; but they were performed to the best of his ability, and with a willing heart. His religion was carried into every duty of life. He regarded himself as God’s servant, and his work as God’s work. His efforts were accepted, because they were prompted by love to God and a sincere desire to do His will. It was thus that Samuel became a co-worker with the Lord of heaven and earth. And God fitted him to accomplish a great work for Israel.  {PP 573.3}

“. . . From the earliest dawn of intellect she [Hannah] had taught her son to love and reverence God and to regard himself as the Lord’s. By every familiar object surrounding him she had sought to lead his thoughts up to the Creator. When separated from her child, the faithful mother’s solicitude did not cease. Every day he was the subject of her prayers. Every year she made, with her own hands, a robe of service for him; and as she went up with her husband to worship at Shiloh, she gave the child this reminder of her love. Every fiber of the little garment had been woven with a prayer that he might be pure, noble, and true. She did not ask for her son worldly greatness, but she earnestly pleaded that he might attain that greatness which Heaven values—that he might honor God and bless his fellow men. {PP 572.2}

“What a reward was Hannah’s! and what an encouragement to faithfulness is her example! There are opportunities of inestimable worth, interests infinitely precious, committed to every mother. . . .[Because of Hannah, every mother and every child has this example.] It is the mother’s privilege to bless the world by her influence, and in doing this she will bring joy to her own heart. She may make straight paths for the feet of her children, through sunshine and shadow, to the glorious heights above. But it is only when she seeks, in her own life, to follow the teachings of Christ that the mother can hope to form the character of her children after the divine pattern.”  {PP 572.3

Hannah’s life of prayerful perseverance and her motherly example are why she is one of the few to whom so many owe so much.

[For further details, read Ellen G. White’s Patriarchs and Prophets, Chapter 55, “The Child Samuel” PP 569-574.3 . Also, please listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 653, “Lead Them, My God to Thee.”]

White, particularly from the section titled “The Privilege of Prayer,” Chapter 1, p. 9. [Other sources of the same or very similar quotes are used below.]

“The unvailed glory of God no man could look upon and live; but Moses is assured that he shall behold as much of the divine glory as he can bear, in his present, mortal state. That Hand that made the world, that holds the mountains in their places, takes this man of dust,—this man of mighty faith,—and mercifully covers him in a cleft of the rock, while the glory of God and all his goodness pass before him. Can we marvel that the ‘excellent glory’ reflected from Omnipotence shone in Moses’ face, with such brightness that the people could not look upon it? The impress of God was upon him, making him appear as one of the shining angels from the throne. {T30 18.2}

“This experience,—above all else the assurance that God would hear his prayer, and that the divine presence would attend him,—was of more value to Moses as a leader than the learning of Egypt, or all his attainments in military science. No earthly power or skill or learning can supply the place of God’s immediate presence. In the history of Moses we may see what intimate communion with God it is man’s privilege to enjoy. To the transgressor it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. But Moses was not afraid to be alone with the Author of that law which had been spoken with such awful grandeur from Mount Sinai; for his soul was in harmony with the will of his Maker. {T30 19.1}

“Prayer is the opening of the heart to God, as to a friend. The eye of faith will discern God very near, and the suppliant may obtain a precious evidence of the divine love and care for him. . . .” {T30 19.2}

Pastor Flemons will be speaking this Sabbath (Saturday) at the Walnut Church of SDA, 8501 Hwy 25, Marshall, NC 28753.

1 Kings 19:4  And he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers. (Also read 1 Kings 19:1-8 and Conflict and Courage for July 26, CC 213.)

Worship: Samson, One of the Few / Wellness: Juice and Smoothie for Cancer

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake
Samson’s life of selfish living is world renowned. What he wanted was primarily his only priority. He repeatedly squandered God’s blessings to him.

“Just as he was entering upon manhood, the time when he must execute his divine mission—the time above all others when he should have been true to God—Samson connected himself with the enemies of Israel. He did not ask whether he could better glorify God when united with the object of his choice, or whether he was placing himself in a position where he could not fulfill the purpose to be accomplished by his life. To all who seek first to honor Him, God has promised wisdom; but there is no promise to those who are bent upon self-pleasing.” {PP 563.1}

“God’s promise that through Samson He would ‘begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines’ was fulfilled; but how dark and terrible the record of that life which might have been a praise to God and a glory to the nation! Had Samson been true to his divine calling, the purpose of God could have been accomplished in his honor and exaltation. But he yielded to temptation and proved untrue to his trust, and his mission was fulfilled in defeat, bondage, and death.” {PP 567.2}

Still, Samson’s last act testifies that, although imprisoned, anyone who truly repents and in sincerity yields him- or herself for God’s use in total devotion can be accepted of God. Samson’s story testifies to the willingness of God to save humanity to the uttermost and is why Samson is one of the few to whom so many owe so much.

[For further details, read Ellen G. White’s Patriarchs and Prophets, Chapter 54, “Samson” (p. 560) PP 563.1-566.2. Also, please listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons.]

Sharing and Caring Time  Sis. Maria encouraged listeners with two passages of reading from the book Power of Prayer, a collection of statements on prayer by Ellen G. White, particularly from the section titled “The Sincere Prayer,” Chapter 20. [Other sources of the same or very similar quotes are used below.]

“Those who have a natural love for the world and have been remiss in their duty can see their own faults specified in the cases of others who have been reproved. God designs to test the faith of all who claim to be followers of Christ. He will test the sincerity of the prayers of all those who claim to earnestly desire to know their duty. He will make duty plain. He will give all an ample opportunity to develop what is in their hearts. The conflict will be close between self and the grace of God. Self will strive for the mastery and will be opposed to the work of bringing the life and thoughts, the will and affections, into subjection to the will of Christ. Self-denial and the cross stand all along in the pathway to eternal life, and, because of this, ‘few there be that find it.’”  {2T 687.3}

“The sincerity of your prayers will be proved by the vigor of the effort you make to obey all of God’s commandments. You may move intelligently, and at every step renounce evil habits and associations, believing that the Lord will renovate your heart by the power of his Spirit. {YI August 11, 1892, par. 4}

Words of Encouragement

James 5:17, 18  Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. (Also read 1 Kings 18:41-46 and Conflict and Courage for July 25, CC 212.)

Colossians 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. (Also read With God at Dawn for July 25, WGD 208.)

Worship: Deborah, One of the Few / Wellness: Hypertension Juice and Smoothie

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake
Pastor Flemons highlighted how Deborah, who judged Israel, is biblical evidence that a woman can operate from a balanced brain: the left side as well as the right side of her brain. He mentioned how women are noted for being right-brained or emotional and compassionate beings. Nevertheless, Deborah judged Israel during the time when Israel was under tremendous vexation. The division of Canaan had been done. But Israel had not thoroughly driven out the giants in Canaan. They had not completely followed God’s orders.

The vexation was so severe that Israel’s army refused to go to war with its ten-thousand strong army of warriors. That is unless Judge Deborah accompanied them. It was all about the faith of Judge Deborah in God. Deborah’s faith was so evident that Barak refused to go to war without her by his side. The faith of this woman of God won for Israel the complete battle against the giants in the land of Canaan. Her faith for a whole nation stands to witness to the world for all time. That is what makes Judge Deborah one of the few to whom so many owe so much.

Sharing and Caring Time  Sis. Maria encouraged listeners with two passages of reading from the book Power of Prayer, a collection of statements on prayer by Ellen G. White, particularly from the section titled “The Sincere Prayer,” on pp 41, 42. [Other sources of the same or very similar quotes are used below.]

“Let sincerity and faith characterize your prayers. The Lord is willing to do for us ‘exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.’ Ephesians 3:20. Talk it; pray it. Do not talk unbelief. We cannot afford to let Satan see that he has power to darken our countenances and sadden our lives.” {7T 273.4}

“Hence, as we give ourselves to God, and win other souls to Him, we hasten the coming of His kingdom. Only those who devote themselves to His service, saying, ‘Here am I; send me’ (Isaiah 6:8), to open blind eyes, to turn men ‘from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and inheritance among them which are sanctified’ (Acts 26:18)—they alone pray in sincerity, ‘Thy kingdom come.’” {Pr 294.2}

She referred listeners to Ephesians 3:14-21 for personal reading and she then used it in the closing prayer.

Worship: Designated Survivor / Wellness: Tropical Insulin Smoothie & Green Juice

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake
Someone must be designated to survive any crisis. For January 2019’s State of the Union address, Secretary of Energy, Rick Perry, was assigned to be the designated survivor. He was to assume the duties of the president of the United States of America, if President Trump and Vice President Pence did not survive the evening.

Rick Perry was carefully and secretly guarded away from everyone and all media. His face wasn’t seen. His voice wasn’t heard. His name was not even mentioned during the speech, says Pastor Flemons. His one undeterred mission was to be prepared to take over the seat of the U.S. president and to preserve life in the event of a national crisis.

Christians are called to be the designated survivors of this world. These designated survivors, Christians, are to have certain characteristics. Pastor Flemons discussed them in detail.

In part, he said that these designated survivors realize that “Christ is waiting with longing desire for the manifestation of Himself in His church. When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own.” {COL 69.1} Christians strive to see that their lives are in harmony with the official standard of God: the Ten Commandments. Christians allow no other standard to supersede that of the Bible. For they will “have in their foreheads the seal of the infinite God [and] will regard the world and its attractions as subordinate to eternal interests” (The Review and Herald, July 13, 1897). {7BC 978.3}

Their undeterred mission is to work now to perfectly reflect the image of Christ in themselves and to help others to do the same for the preservation of life during the world’s final crisis.

“The last great delusion is soon to open before us. Antichrist is to perform his marvelous works in our sight. So closely will the counterfeit resemble the true that it will be impossible to distinguish between them except by the Holy Scriptures. By their testimony every statement and every miracle must be tested. {GC 593.1} Those who endeavor to obey all the commandments of God will be opposed and derided. They can stand only in God. In order to endure the trial before them, they must understand the will of God as revealed in His word; they can honor Him only as they have a right conception of His character, government, and purposes, and act in accordance with them. None but those who have fortified the mind with the truths of the Bible will stand through the last great conflict. To every soul will come the searching test: Shall I obey God rather than men? The decisive hour is even now at hand. Are our feet planted on the rock of God’s immutable word? Are we prepared to stand firm in defense of the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus?” {GC 593.2}

In essence these designated survivors “would rather die than perform a wrong act.”{5T 53.2} May God help us to completely forsake sin, remain completely separate from sin, and be found faithful to our designation as survivors of this world.

Worship: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, introduced his wife, Sis. Maria, who shared two recipes in preparation for the 10-day liquid fast beginning August 1. The recipes are for maintaining health for anyone, but they are specifically designed for diabetics. The tropical insulin, which reduces the need for insulin, is a smoothie made of mango, almond milk, avocado and cinnamon that may be sweetened with Stevia or honey. The green juice, which controls glucose, is the combined juices of kale or collards, spinach, broccoli, an apple and lemon juice. Recipes are detailed in full below the heading Sharing and Caring Time.

Worship: Caleb, One of the Few / Wellness: Watch “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead”

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake
If the world calls you a senior, listen to this, says Pastor Flemons. He shared a reading that demonstrates the Bible version of retirement in the story of Caleb. The following two paragraphs are excerpts.

“Before the distribution of the land had been entered upon, Caleb, accompanied by the heads of his tribe, came forward with a special claim. Except Joshua, Caleb was now the oldest man in Israel. Caleb and Joshua were the only ones among the spies who had brought a good report of the Land of Promise, encouraging the people to go up and possess it in the name of the Lord. Caleb now reminded Joshua of the promise then made, as the reward of his faithfulness: ‘The land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s forever, because thou hast wholly followed the Lord.’ He therefore presented a request that Hebron be given him for a possession. Here had been for many years the home of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and here, in the cave of Machpelah, they were buried. Hebron was the seat of the dreaded Anakim, whose formidable appearance had so terrified the spies, and through them destroyed the courage of all Israel. This, above all others, was the place which Caleb, trusting in the strength of God, chose for his inheritance.” {PP 511.4}

“Caleb obtained the inheritance upon which his heart had been set for forty years, and, trusting in God to be with him, he ‘drove thence the three sons of Anak.’ Having thus secured a possession for himself and his house, his zeal did not abate; he did not settle down to enjoy his inheritance, but pushed on to further conquests for the benefit of the nation and the glory of God.” {PP 513.1}

According to Corrie ten Boom, says Pastor Flemons, retirement is simply getting new tires for your car! Essentially, Caleb displayed the same belief. Because of Caleb’s attitude toward working for the Lord in conquering giants on behalf of God’s people in the face of unimaginable difficulty, especially at his age, he is one of the few to whom so many owe so much.

However, the story of Joe Cross, as highlighted in “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead,” is an impactful film that underscores the value of a healthy diet. “You need to watch it,” says Pastor Flemons.

Healing is not just physical. It is spiritual. The film makes that evident, although the Bible is not the primary subject of the film.

Genesis 1:29 reveals God’s original diet for mankind. It is a whole-food, plant-based diet of nuts, grains, fruits, and vegetables. Deviation from that original dietary plan is the reason there are so many diseases that are overtaking humanity. Over a ten-year period, cancer, heart attacks and strokes kill more people than did the Holocaust, says Pastor Flemons.

He invites you to watch “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” and to join us in doing your own liquid 10-day fast beginning August 1. Recipes and a shopping list will be shared in the days prior to August 1. Keep listening!

Worship: Joshua, One of the Few / Wellness: Watch “What the Health!”

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake
We need to learn how to worship our way to victory, says Pastor Flemons. God requires worship. That is the lesson that Joshua teaches all the world so well, says Pastor Flemons. The story of Joshua shows us that mountains of difficulty can fall when in faith we worship. That is how the walls of Jericho fell flat. Because of Joshua’s ability to worship in the face of unimaginable difficulty, he is one of the few to whom so many owe so much.

[For further details, read Joshua 5:1-3, 9-14; Joshua 6; Joshua 7. Also, please listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons.]

Worship: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that you must watch the documentary film, “What the Health.” He says that it is his favorite health film. It shows how the change of one’s diet to that of a whole-food, plant-based diet is more powerful for healing than prescription medicines. It shows very sick people getting completely off their meds within two weeks time and showing amazingly visible signs of improved health, even from being classified as near death with dependency on a walker to being healthy and needing none at all.

The film also reveals how health agencies recommend recipes on their websites as healthy recipes, although the ingredients include those very substances that they themselves admit cause the disease. When agency specialists and directors were interviewed and questioned about such inconsistencies, you clearly see their refusal (for whatever reason) to speak the truth. It is a very enlightening and powerfully riveting film. You must watch, “What the Health!

Worship: Phinehas, One of the Few / Wellness: True Health Is Wholeness

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake
Never before in history had God’s people . . . had “occasion to kill a woman,” says Pastor Flemons. He tried to recall any other such event in previous biblical history. He referred to the story of Phinehas, who had the courage to end the plague against God’s people because of open whorish rebellion.

The Bible says that Phinehas, “went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel. And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand” (Numbers 25:8,9).

Until they sinned, God’s people could not be cursed. Balaam, the prophet of God, had been urged to curse God’s people in exchange to satisfy his greed. He could not curse God’s people. They had been faithful to God. Only blessings issued from his mouth. This is what Balaam knew in the words of Pastor Flemons: “Demons have no power over us, unless we allow them” through sinning. Therefore, Balaam used women to seduce the men of God to cause them to sin, so that God’s protection would be removed from them.

We all must beware. The devil will use even the God-given softness of a woman to bring harm to the people of God. Phinehas shows to the world for all time that there comes a time to act, not simply pray. We are told, “He who does nothing but pray will soon cease to pray” (SC 101.1). We are also told, “It is the very essence of all right faith to do the right thing at the right time” (6T 24.3). The courage and faith that Phinehas showed in bringing an end to the fierce plague against God’s people makes Phinehas one of the few to whom so many owe so much.

Worship: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that true health is physical, mental and spiritual health. It’s wholeness. Those who are whole do not need to see a doctor, he said, referring to the statement of Jesus in Matthew 9:12. It says, “They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.”

When you are sick, he says, this is the time to wholly depend on God, even if you cannot understand what or why it is happening to you. Depending on God helps to bring healing. Spiritual and mental health are essential to wholeness. To see that, says Pastor Flemons, you only need to look at the stress factor involved in so many diseases. And he listed a few of them: fibroid tumors, breast cancer, prostate cancer, diabetes. Because of stress, true healing must involve the spiritual and mental healing as well. Otherwise, he says that you cannot get well.
