Worship: Worshipping on the Sabbath / Wellness: Curing a Baby’s Cold

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  You may (and should) worship God every day, morning and evening with your family, says Pastor Flemons. But worship on any day other than the Sabbath can never replace worship during the sacred hours of the Sabbath. The seventh day of the week was set apart during creation week by God Himself. He sanctified it, according to Genesis 2:3.

Adam and Eve worshipped God on that first Sabbath, one day after being created, says Pastor Flemons. The second Adam, Jesus, worshipped God on the seventh day, according to the commandment. It was His custom to be found in the synagogue on the Sabbath day. This was echoed by another listener during Sharing Time. Pastor Flemons reminded listeners that no Jew even existed from Adam to Noah and that Jews are the children of Abraham. The Sabbath, instituted during creation week, existed generations before Abraham was born. It, therefore, existed prior to the giving of the Ten Commandments on tables of stone to Moses. The Jewish nation was chosen to be entrusted with mirroring God’s Laws to the world and to present the Messiah.

The Bible Sabbath never changed. Historically, the Roman Catholic Church, with the first recognized Christian Emperor Constantine, instituted Sunday worship in 321 AD, as her self-proclaimed mark of ecclesiastical authority: “the mark of the beast,” says Pastor Flemons. Even when Sunday becomes the officially enforced day of worship, God’s people must still choose to honor the seventh-day Bible Sabbath and be saved, or receive the mark of the beast and consequently her plagues, according to Revelation 14:9 and 10. God, who says Himself that He never changes, made it known in Isaiah 66:23, that the Sabbath He instituted will be kept throughout eternity.

(For additional details, please read Luke 4:16; Exodus 16:14-30; and Exodus 20; and listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Shelem Flemons.)

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that to cure a baby’s cold, put a crushed garlic clove in each of the baby’s socks and leave on through the night or for at least a couple of hours. The body will absorb the garlic, which strengthens the immune system and detoxifies the bloodstream. It may be best to first apply olive oil or coconut oil on the bottom of the baby’s feet. This guards against potential irritation.

Don’t be alarmed when you smell garlic on the baby’s breath or elsewhere on the skin. This is normal. It indicates that the garlic has been absorbed into the bloodstream through the feet.

Next, a few cloves of garlic can be blended with water to make varying strengths of garlic water. Then just enough drops of the garlic water may be added to carrot juice to only slightly tinge the taste for the baby’s consumption. Carrot juice is normally delightfully sweet to the baby, and you want to maintain that sweetness enough to satisfy the baby’s palate.

Especially while treating a baby’s cold, be careful to remove all dairy and sugar from the child’s diet and from the nursing mother’s diet. This would bring quicker recovery from the cold. Actually, it would be best to remove all dairy from the diet at all times. This would help keep the baby healthy.

(For further details, please listen to the recording.)

Revelation 3:8  I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. (Also read Ye Shall Receive PowerYRP 352.)

Worship: Preparation to Hear Sabbath Declared / Wellness: Nattokinase, Natural Help for Blood Clots

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  The full details of the Ten Commandments are listed in Exodus 20. But in Exodus 19, you see the principles that show how to prepare for the Sabbath, which is the heart of the Ten Commandments. Pastor Flemons read through and discussed Exodus 19.

For one, clothes need to be laundered before Sabbath. Friday is the typical day to prepare Sabbath meals. Therefore, Pastor Flemons suggests laundering clothes on Thursdays, for instance. Next, reverence for the Sabbath will lead to guarding the edges of the Sabbath, he says. There should be a gradual movement toward less and less secular activities and more thoughts of sacred things as the day progresses on Fridays toward sunset. Then at sunset on Saturdays, when the Sabbath closes, there should not be an immediate rush to do secular things. Rather, ending the Sabbath with testimony and song and prayer is best, he says. This is how you guard the edges of the Sabbath.

Then the Sabbath is also a time when everyone must prepare to hear and receive the Word of God. God presents Himself to His people in a special way during the sacred hours of the Sabbath. It is part of the sanctification process. With this in mind, husbands are to guard against coming at their wives. And everyone is warned against criticizing or murmuring. Cleanliness of body and mind and heart is essential. These heavenly principles were once entrusted to the nation of Israel. But now all Christians are members of God’s holy nation: spiritual Israel.

(For additional details, please read Exodus 19. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Shelem Flemons and hear him sing “Holy Day, Jehovah’s Rest.”)

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that the popular blood thinner Coumadin is really rat poison. It is an ingredient in D-Con, he says, that causes the blood to thin and the rodent to experience excessive thirst that, when quenched, ruptures blood vessels.

He explained that nattokinase is a natural blood thinner with no health risks. Rather, it is considered a superfood. According to a Dr. Axe article, “Nattokinase has been shown to help prevent blood clots, promote blood flow and improve heart health. It’s also been shown to be useful in the treatment of conditions like high blood pressure, stroke, atherosclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease. (28)”

Pastor Flemons suggests one to two capsules of nattokinase, at least twice a day and preferably three times, depending upon your risk factor. It is best on an empty stomach, he says. That is why he recommends keeping it on the nightstand to be taken first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening. It has been a traditional food in Japan for thousands of years and may explain why Japanese tend to live 4.5 years longer than people in America.

Other natural blood thinners include lemon water, garlic, and cayenne. All are recommended and can be safely taken in addition to nattokinase and instead of coumadin, says Pastor Flemons.

Words of Encouragement

Revelation 12:12  Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. (Also read Ye Shall Receive PowerYRP 349.)

2 Peter 1:5-8  Giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Also please read My Life Today, ML 95.)

Worship: Christians, Colorful Cosmetics, Jewelry, and Flashy Clothes #10 / Wellness: Drinking Water, Best Practices

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, as promised, discussed the adornment of Christians from the perspective of the New Testament. The Apostle Paul, in his first letter to his spiritual son Timothy, laid out the principle of dress for Christians. Women are to “adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array [that would be flashy clothes!]; but (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.”

The same message is echoed by Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, in his first epistle “to the strangers scattered” who are also God’s “elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.” Peter said that any adorning should “not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel.” Peter was clear that the adornment of a true Christian should “be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves.”

Pastor Flemons made the point that you can wear the right thing and still have the wrong attitude. So simply wearing the right thing does not make you holy. “The Bible is clear,” says Pastor Flemons. “We are only safe when we walk with Jesus and obey.”

(For additional details, please read 1 Timothy 2:9, 10 and 1 Peter 3:1-5. Also listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Shelem Flemons and hear him sing Hymn 624, “I Want Jesus to Walk With Me.”)

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, provided nine tips for drinking sufficient water daily.

  1. 1. Drink distilled or some other soft pure water, like spring water, which has some amount of mineralization.
  2. 2. Divide your weight by 2 to determine your daily water intake. This is the number of ounces of water that you should drink daily. If your urine is yellow, increase the ounces of water until your urine is clear.
  3. 3. Do not drink water with your meals.
  4. 4. Drink water between meals: at least an hour, either before or after mealtime.
  5. 5. Drink 16 ounces of warm lemon water upon rising. It is your wake-up tonic that also encourages a morning bowel movement. Squeeze one lemon into 16 ounces of warmed distilled water to make the lemon water.
  6. 6. Do not drink large amounts of water at one time, except when you are doing a flushing remedy. Drink your quota of water throughout the day.
  7. 7. Substitute herbal tea for your quota of water intake only when the tea is not sweetened.
  8. 8. Drink your water at a regular pace. Don’t drink your water in gulps.
  9. 9. Don’t drink water that is too hot or too cold.

Galatians 3:27, 28  For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. (Also read Ye Shall Receive PowerYRP 337.)

Worship: Christians, Colorful Cosmetics, Jewelry, Flashy Clothes #5 / Wellness: How to Eat Healthy, #4

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Pastor Flemons discussed the dual application Revelation 12 and of Ezekiel 28:12-19. The passage in Ezekiel not only refers to the king of Tyrus but to Lucifer, or Satan before he sinned. The passage shows that Lucifer, the perfect covering cherub, allowed the wearing of jewelry to develop an attitude of pride within him.

As long as his character was perfect and reflected Christ, Lucifer could wear the precious stones. Every precious stone was his covering. His character was unchanged, until sin was found in him. It was then that the brightness of the precious stones “corrupted” his wisdom.  In the end, he was cast to the ground, meaning Earth. Lucifer had to leave Heaven.

From Lucifer’s experience God shows that outward beauty can corrupt inward spirituality. Once Lucifer lost his position in Heaven, God removed ornamentation from His people. In Eden, there is never the mention of ornamentation on Adam and Eve. In Scripture, you do see that the wearing of ornamentation was considered idolatry.

Instead of outward adornment, God wants our inner beauty to draw people to Him. He wants our light to shine for Him. “Let it shine,” says Pastor Flemons.

[For additional details, please read Ezekiel 28:12-19; Psalm 1:10, 11; Proverbs 2:5. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons and hear him sing “I Am Not Worthy.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, shared points numbered 19 through 25 for how to eat healthy.

19. Do not eat fast or while rushing. Better to skip a meal or eat less than to eat in a hurry.

20. Eat in a pleasant environment.

21. Never eat between meals.

22. Drink fruit or vegetable juices optimally 30 minutes before a fruit or vegetable meal respectively. Or drink the juice as the meal. This is not always possible as some people need significant amounts of juice. However, this is a great plan for maintenance.

23. Do not chew gum or candy. They trick the digestive system into releasing digestive juices in expectation of digesting a meal and instead, irritate the lining of the stomach, which leads to the development of ulcers.

24. Do not eat chocolate in any form.

25. Make your food and your table attractive.

Eating healthy is the second wellness principle embedded in the REFRESHING Way lifestyle. REFRESHING stands for Rely on God. Eat healthy. Fresh air. Rest. Exercise. Self-Control (temperance). H2O (drink water). In the sun. Never give up. Give to others.

Words of Encouragement

Titus 1:9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. (Also read Ye Shall Receive Power, YRP 330.)

Worship: Christians, Colorful Cosmetics, Jewelry, Flashy Clothes #4 / Wellness: How to Eat Healthy #3

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  For those who believe that the wearing of jewelry was for Old Testament times, Pastor Flemons taught the same subject from the New Testament. In 1 Corinthians 10:1-12, the Apostle Paul warns those “upon whom the ends of the world are come” to pay attention to the Israelites and learn valuable lessons for today. Pastor Flemons compared certain verses in 1 Corinthians 10:1-12 to the Old Testament scriptures referred to by the Apostle Paul.

Pastor Flemons says that generally when you see Christians put jeweled pieces on themselves, eventually Jesus tells them to take them off. For they are idols. But when God does it, as when He puts crowns on the redeemed, that is a different story. First, God wants to save us and to perfect our characters to reflect inner beauty, so that jewels will have no more than their rightful emphasis in our minds.

Simplicity is the way God has chosen for the development of Christian character and lifestyle. We must see ornamentation as idolatry, as was shown in the Old Testament, says Pastor Flemons. And we must make their experience our example per Scripture in the New Testament.

[For additional details, please read 1 Corinthians 10:1-9; Numbers 25:1-9; Numbers 21:4-9; Revelation 17:1-4Exodus 32:1-6. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons and hear him sing Hymn 132, “O Come, All Ye Faithful.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, shared points numbered 13 through 18 for how to eat healthy.

13. Your last meal of fruit with zwieback, crackers or air-popped popcorn should be finished at least two hours before retiring for bed.

14. Eat plenty of dark green leafy vegetables.

15. Eat a salad with a dark green lettuce, some other cooked vegetable, and a plant-based entree. This is assuming that you are eating a vegetable meal at lunchtime. For variety, consult Times of Refreshing Vegetarian Cookbook.

16. Do not eat anything with vinegar, including salad dressing, mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, and other condiments. The cookbook contains recipes to replace these harmful foods. The sunflower seed dressing is highly recommended.

17. Read labels on all your foods so that you will know what you are eating.

18. Do not eat any refined foods including sugar, white flour, and white flour products. Pastor Flemons advises watching his presentation: “The Whiter the Bread, the Sooner You’re Dead,” available on YouTube.

Eating healthy is the second wellness principle embedded in the REFRESHING Way lifestyle. REFRESHING stands for Rely on God. Eat healthy. Fresh air. Rest. Exercise. Self-Control (temperance). H2O (drink water). In the sun. Never give up. Give to others.

Words of Encouragement

Titus 2:1  But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine. (Also read Ye Shall Receive Power, YRP 329.)

1 Corinthians 9:27  But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. (Also read My Life Today, ML 78.)

Worship: Christians, Colorful Cosmetics, Jewelry, Flashy Clothes 3 / Wellness: How to Eat Healthy 2

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Pastor Flemons reviewed the Bethel experience of Jacob and his people, who stripped themselves of their idols–gods of jewelry–and changed their garments to meet with God. “God is a God worth sacrificing for. . . .There will be no moral changes when Jesus comes,” says Pastor Flemons, who referred to Revelation 22:11. All of the changes that are needed must be done now, while there is still time.

Jesus sacrificed all for us. Certainly, at His request, we should be willing to make any changes and endure any sacrifice for Him and to gain salvation for us. In the end, no sacrifice will be too great for what God has in store for us. In fact, Revelation 21:18-21 describes the city of God as pure gold, garnished with all manner of precious stones that are of far greater value than anything on Earth.

Pastor Flemons read Ezekiel 28:13-17, where we are told that in Heaven God placed upon the covering cherub, upon Lucifer’s body, every precious stone. But he was stripped of them because of sin. He who became Satan profaned the wearing of jewelry on Earth. Because of sin, mankind (born in sin and shapened in iniquity) cannot wear jewelry without a change of character. Not until in Heaven can precious stones be safely worn. In Heaven, the redeemed wear crowns of gold (Revelation 4:10). But for now, God is calling for the perfection of inner character, says Pastor Flemons, where nothing is more important to us than God and nothing is placed above Him. That is what He wants our characters to reflect: HIM.

Whatever cannot be given up for Jesus, becomes a “god” in place of GOD. Pastor Flemons says, “It is not worth holding onto something that gives you a sense of outer beauty that hurts your inner character. God wants us to shine from within.”

[For additional details, please read Exodus 33:1-8; 32:1-4; and Ezekiel 28:13-17. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons.]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, shared additional points numbered 7 through 12 for how to eat healthy.

7. Do not eat store-bought meat replacements that are highly processed, high in sodium, and difficult to digest.

8. Do not drink anything with your meals. Drink enough water between meals, and you will not be thirsty during meals. Thirst during meals is a sign of dehydration.

9. Eat a few raw almonds three to four times weekly. Eat only unsalted, raw almonds.

10. Eat two meals a day, unless you do heavy physical labor. Then a third meal may be necessary.

11. Make your third meal to consist of fruit with zwieback, crackers or air-popped popcorn.

12. Always allow at least five hours between meals.

Eating healthy is the second wellness principle embedded in the REFRESHING Way lifestyle. REFRESHING stands for Rely on God. Eat healthy. Fresh air. Rest. Exercise. Self-Control (temperance). H2O (drink water). In the sun. Never give up. Give to others.

Words of Encouragement

Ezekiel 36:26  A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

John 14:27  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (Also read My Life Today, ML 77.)

Worship: Christians, Colorful Cosmetics, Jewelry, Flashy Clothes #2 / Wellness: How to Eat Healthy #1

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  In the story of Jacob’s call to return to Bethel, there is a lesson about the wearing of jewelry and inappropriate garments for God’s people. God wanted to save Jacob and those with him. Therefore were they called to return to Bethel, the place of their salvation.

Jacob then ordered the people to take off their rings and earrings, which were called gods, and to change their garments. He testified of God’s goodness, and they willingly responded to the order. Jacob hid or buried the “gods” in the ground under an oak tree.

“With deep emotion Jacob repeated the story of his first visit to Bethel, when he left his father’s tent a lonely wanderer, fleeing for his life, and how the Lord had appeared to him in the night vision. As he reviewed the wonderful dealings of God with him, his own heart was softened, his children also were touched by a subduing power; he had taken the most effectual way to prepare them to join in the worship of God when they should arrive at Bethel. ‘And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.’ {PP 205.3}”

Pastor Flemons says, “We should want to return to our Bethel or place of deliverance. Such returning to God and remembering His promises and goodness should be accompanied by changes in what is on our hands (that’s rings) and what is in our ears (earrings). These were called strange gods. Our dress should also change as they changed their garments.”

He said that we need to dress in a more simple way that is godly, so that our characters can shine out for God. He says, “God wants us to shine from within and have that honest, sincere glow of a Christian.”

[For additional details, please read Genesis 35:1-7; Genesis 28:10-22; Genesis 32:24-28; and Ellen White’s Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 205.3. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons and hear him sing Hymn 627, “Jacob’s Ladder.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that he believes in meals over pills and that education is better than medication. Then he shared six points for eating healthy.

First, make breakfast your biggest meal of the day. That’s when your metabolism is the fastest of the day, he says.

2. Do not mix fruits and vegetables together in the same meal. Neutral fruits and vegetables (like avocados, olives, lemons and tomatoes) are the exceptions that “can go either way.”

3. Eat plenty of raw with every meal. In one meal, eat a large salad. In the other, eat largely of fresh fruit.

4. Eat a variety of foods, rather than the same meal day after day. Consult TOR’s Total Vegetarian Cookbook for ideas. For instance, a fruit meal can consist of fruits, nuts and cereal or a dish made of whole grains, like millet, oatmeal, quinoa, couscous.

5. Eat no dairy. Replace dairy products with nut milk, rice milk or soy milk alternatives. Tasty homemade non-dairy alternatives, including butter, for instance, are in the TOR’s Total Vegetarian Cookbook.

6. Eat no meat or animal products, including chicken and fish.

Words of Encouragement

2 Corinthians 4:1, 2  Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; but have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. (Also read the devotional book, Ye Shall Receive Power, YRP 327.)

Genesis 39:9  How can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? (Also read My Life Today, ML 76.)

Worship: Christians, Colorful Cosmetics, Jewelry, Flashy Clothes #1 / Wellness: How to Rely on God

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  God is light. The Bible (Psalm 104:2) says that light is His garment. Since man was made in God’s image, Adam and Eve were also robed in light. Indeed, they reflected the light of God.

“. . . A beautiful soft light, the light of God, enshrouded the holy pair. This robe of light was a symbol of their spiritual garments of heavenly innocence. Had they remained true to God it would ever have continued to enshroud them. But when sin entered, they severed their connection with God, and the light that had encircled them departed. Naked and ashamed, they tried to supply the place of the heavenly garments by sewing together fig leaves for a covering. {COL 310.4}

“This is what the transgressors of God’s law have done ever since the day of Adam and Eve’s disobedience. They have sewed together fig leaves to cover the nakedness caused by transgression. They have worn the garments of their own devising, by works of their own they have tried to cover their sins, and make themselves acceptable with God. {COL 311.1}”

The wearing of jewelry, then, is man’s attempt to draw attention to self in hopes of appearing acceptable. Wherever there is gross darkness, God’s people should be noticed, says Pastor Flemons. But it should be their character that must shine out to the world that directs others to God and not to the jewelry that deflects thoughts away from God. “Let your light shine,” says Pastor Flemons, “without robbing God.”

[For additional details, please read Genesis 1:26, 27; 2:25; 3:6, 7; Psalm 104:2; Ephesians 1:18; COL 310, 311; and Matthew 5:16. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons and hear him sing Hymn 309, “I Surrender All.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, explained how to rely on God in a seven-step process.

For one, study your Bible daily for at least a half hour and increase the study time.

2. Study upon waking, and meditate upon Scripture before going to bed.

3. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth. (Read John 16:13.)

4. Have morning and evening family devotions that consist of singing, Bible or inspirational reading, discussion, and prayer.

5. Believe every Bible promise as though it has already happened. But first, be sure to meet the condition.

6. Commit to memory the promises of healing, such as can be found in Exodus 15:26; Psalm 103:1-3; 2 Chronicles 7:14; 3 John 1:2; Jeremiah 30:17; 17:14; Isaiah 57:18, 19; James 5:14, 15.

7. Study the healing miracles of Jesus and draw from them principles based on Christ’s examples. Read John 4:43-54 (nobleman’s son); John 5:1-15 (invalid at the pool of Bethesda); Mark 2:1-12 (man with palsy lowered through roof); Luke 7:1-10 (centurion’s servant); Matthew 9:27-31 (two blind men); Matthew 12:22-32 (blind and dumb demoniac); Mark 7:31-37 (deaf mute at Decapolis); John 9:1-41 (man born blind); Luke 14:1-4 (man with dropsy); Mark 10:46-52 (blind Bartimaeus); Mark 1:29-31 (Peter’s mother-in-law); Mark 1:40-45 (a leper); Mark 3:1-6 (man with withered hand); Matthew 9:32-34 (dumb demoniac); Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 5:25-32, Luke 8:43-48 (woman with issue of blood); Mark 8:22-30 (blind man at Bethsaida); Luke 13:10-17 (woman loosed from her infirmity); Luke 17:11-19 (ten lepers); Jesus’ last act of healing before Crucifixion: Luke 22:49, 50 and John 18:10, 11 (replaces severed ear of Malchus, servant of the high priest).

The Bible is the great book of health and healing, according to Proverbs 4:20-22; 3:8. Pastor Flemons says that if you don’t rely on God, you will have excess stress. It is now known that stress can kill you. Stress affects your muscles. It affects your bones. It affects your brain. It affects your heart. It affects every aspect of your life. But relying on God, gives peace and life.

Words of Encouragement

Acts 5:40, 41  And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. (Also read the devotional book, Ye Shall Receive Power, YRP 326.)

Daniel 6:4  Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. (Also read My Life Today, ML 75.)

Worship: How Christians Should Relate to Police Officers / Wellness: Curing Heart Disease This Fall

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Rulers, which includes police officers, are ministers of God. At least, they are supposed to be. That is what the Bible says in Romans 13:1-7. The Bible says that every soul is subject to a higher power. Police officers are a higher power to citizens. Therefore, when you obey an officer, you are essentially obeying God’s orders.

Yet, even police officers are subject to higher powers, including the nation’s constitution and an even higher power: God Himself. Therefore, never obey any officer when it means disobedience to the nation’s constitution and/or God. Even then, you must respectfully disobey the officer.

In fact, says Pastor Flemons, if you haven’t already seen the teaching video “Never Talk to the Police,” please see it. A former criminal defense attorney recorded one of his law class lectures in 2012 for all of us. In it, he quotes a Supreme Court Justice before his death in 1954: “[A]ny lawyer worth his salt will tell the suspect in no uncertain terms to make no statement to the police under any circumstances.” In simple language, never under any circumstances, give any information to any police officer. During the lecture you basically learn why. For one, the complexity of the legal system is such that in 2012, it took 27,000 printed pages just to cover the basic details. Besides that was an additional 10,000 pages of administrative regulations. Who can possibly know it?

Remember, says Pastor Flemons, “You don’t have to obey orders that cause you to be disobedient to the officer’s higher powers. . .But be wise.” And be respectful. Do your part to maintain law and order.

[For additional details, please read Romans 13:1-7, listen to the recording (see links below), and watch here “Never Talk to the Police.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, informed listeners that one important aspect of curing heart disease this fall can be as easy as covering your extremities. When the arms and legs are as warm as your torso or the trunk of your body, then your blood can more easily circulate throughout the system.

Blood circulation affects the heart. When the blood circulates evenly and uninhibited throughout the body, the heart is strengthened. When the extremities are colder than the trunk of the body, blood vessels constrict. Hypothermia can be the result. In an attempt to avoid hypothermia, the heart must pump harder to increase blood circulation in those areas. The heart’s attempt to bring the temperature of the extremities to that of the torso strains the heart and risks hypertension. It can even cause problems for the prostate and female organs.

Those alone should be great reasons to simply keep your arms and legs as warm as your torso!

Words of Encouragement

Genesis 11:1-9 (cont’d)  How the Races Developed: Adaptations. “The black man’s name is written in the book of life beside the white man’s. . .The character makes the man.” (Also read The Southern Work, SWk 12.2.)

Hebrews 9:28 (last part) And unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.. (Also read GC 315.3.)

Worship: Isaiah’s View / Wellness: Curing Allergies

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  The prophets Daniel and Isaiah were given visions of “Christ’s third triumphal celebration” in Heaven. Whereas Daniel focused on the fiery scene itself, Isaiah focused on the angelic song of celebration. Isaiah’s view is similar to the angels’ call-and-response celebration of Christ’s arrival in Heaven after His Resurrection, as described in Psalm 24:7-10. The angels, who never tire of celebrating the selfless sacrifice of Jesus, ask again and again questions that elicit responses that tell who Jesus is and what He alone has done for the salvation of mankind.

“In these words, Isaiah pictures the fierceness of the lifelong battle between Christ and Satan, from the command of Herod to slay all the children ‘from two years old and under’ Matt. 2:16, in his effort to destroy Jesus, to the final conflict. Then turning away from this picture of His own sufferings and struggles, to extol the goodness of God.” PTG

[For additional details, please read Isaiah 63:1-8; and “Isaiah’s View of the Scene” in Path to the Throne of God, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. (PTG 151, 152 original. PTG 208, 209 new version. Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, continued to focus on ten diseases typically seen from September to April. Curing allergies, he said, requires a diet and lifestyle change in obedience to the laws of health. It is important to understand that the cause of the allergies is undigested protein in the body that is treated like poison or foreign protein to the system.

The body simply mounts a response. Histamine is produced. Dilated vessels cause allergic reactions wherever the histamine is located: eyes or sinuses (causing itchiness), skin (causing hives), brain (causing headaches), and so on.

This happens when one overeats or eats between meals or does anything that hinders digestion, including eating the flesh of animals and their byproducts, like dairy and eggs. Fish is also concentrated protein, says Pastor Flemons. Avoid these foods and eat more raw, especially fruits and vegetables, he says. Eat nuts, seeds and grains to a lesser degree. To those who eat processed meat analogs, he says, “Make your own.” He advises consulting TOR’s cookbook for delicious and healthy recipes.

The key is in keeping the immune system strong through diet and a healthy lifestyle, as expressed in the acronym REFRESHING. Essentially maintaining and regaining health begins with relying on God; eating healthy, that is a total plant-based diet; daily getting fresh air, rest, and exercise. It means using self-control, by avoiding everything that is harmful (like caffeine and nicotine) and doing only in moderation those things that are good. It means daily drinking at least half your body’s weight in ounces of H2O–water, and spending about 20 minutes per day in the sun for vitamin D. Furthermore, you must never give up and you must be willing to give to others. Givers are reserved a special blessing of healing, according to Isaiah 58:6-8.

Then added help can be safely obtained through natural remedies, like echinacea, red clover, nettles, elderberrymilk thistle, dandelion, cornsilk tea, and any other liver-cleansing type herb.
