Words of Encouragement

2 Corinthians 13:8  For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

John 5:24   Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

For Heaven’s Sake…

Even though Joseph had been unwisely spoiled by the extra-attention his father Isaac lavished upon him, God knew Joseph’s future, that Joseph would be open to God’s guidance.  Nevertheless, this favor drove his brothers to jealousy and hatred of him for fear that he would receive the coveted birthright. His prophetic dream that they all would one day bow down to him was more than they could bear. They really would have killed him when the opportunity presented itself, were it not for their brother Reuben stepping in with another suggestion.

Though beside himself with fear for the future and completely surrounded by idolatry, Joseph decided to be true to God. This essentially freed God to do miraculous things in and through Joseph. God blessed Joseph to do superb work in everything that was committed to his care. And Joseph worked diligently to honor God in everything he did.

Soon Potiphar trusted everything he had to Joseph, except his wife. But the wife lusted for Joseph. When Joseph refused her and fled her grasp, she clung to his garment and claimed Joseph was pressing her into sex, so she screamed. Potiphar knew the integrity that Joseph possessed in everything. But rather than bring dishonor upon his own home, he banished Joseph to an executive prison, where the king’s prisoners were kept.

In prison, Joseph remained faithful, and God prospered him to be placed in charge of all the prisoners. There he met Pharaoh’s butler and baker, whose dreams Joseph correctly and divinely interpreted. The baker was executed and the butler was reinstated, just as Joseph had said. But the butler forgot Joseph’s request to have his case brought before Pharaoh, that is, until Pharaoh was troubled about two dreams a full two years later. Then Joseph was both remembered and summoned.

Pharaoh told Joseph the dreams. Immediately giving God credit, Joseph told Pharaoh that God was permitting Pharaoh to know the future. Both dreams were one message. The next seven years would be years of plenty. Then seven years of famine would follow. Joseph advised Pharaoh to choose a discreet and wise administrator to secure a fifth part of Egypt and store up food in the cities during the years of plenty to buffet against the years of famine that would follow.

“In all the realm Joseph was the only man gifted with wisdom to point out the danger that threatened the kingdom and the preparation necessary to meet it; and the king was convinced that he was the one best qualified to execute the plans which he had proposed. It was evident that a divine power was with him, and that there were none among the king’s officers of state so well qualified to conduct the affairs of the nation at this crisis. The fact that he was a Hebrew and a slave was of little moment when weighed against his evident wisdom and sound judgment. ‘Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?’ said the king to his counselors.PP 221.1

“The appointment was decided upon, and to Joseph the astonishing announcement was made, ‘Forasmuch as God hath showed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.’ The king proceeded to invest Joseph with the insignia of his high office. ‘And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck; and he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee.’”PP 221.2

And that is how God prospered Joseph to go from slavery to royalty. All this time, Joseph’s brothers and his father were left in the dark. In time, all of that would change.

For Health’s Sake…

Without water, nothing in the body could properly function. It is commonly known that the human body is about 70 percent water. Coincidentally, according to NASA, more than 70 percent of Earth is covered by water. Also distilled water, says Pastor Flemons, is a perfect 7 on the pH scale, which is what our body needs to register for optimum health. Daily you need to drink a minimum of half your body’s weight in ounces.

Water helps reverse constipation. Water’s ability to help reverse constipation, by creating soft stools, helps the body avoid many diseases. That is water’s greatest blessing to the digestive system, as constipation is the mother of disease. Usually constipation results from dehydration and a lack of fiber in the diet.

Water helps detoxify the liver. This is critical since the liver plays a critical role in digestion. The liver and the kidneys work together. If the kidneys cannot eliminate toxins, the toxins are transferred to the liver. Drinking enough water, therefore, helps the kidneys from burdening the liver. Daily drinking enough water also helps urination, which will be clear when enough water is consumed. Without kidneys, you would have to drink 800 glasses of water per day just to filter the toxins filtered by the kidneys with only eight glasses of water.

Water provides the fluid for perspiration. Toxins not removed through the skin burdens the liver. It is the same with the lungs. Water is needed for respiration. Toxins not eliminated through respiration get transferred to the liver to do the job. Thus, when the liver is overburdened, its digestive function is dangerously crippled. Because water also helps increase the circulation of blood and lymph flow, every part of the body is helped by simply drinking water.
