For Heaven’s Sake…
To understand current events in light of Bible prophecy, you must understand Bible symbolism. The Bible explains itself. Here are some examples:
The dragon represents Satan in the primary sense and pagan Rome in a secondary sense. According to Revelation 12:9, the dragon is Satan. Revelation 12:4 refers to the dragon being King Herod, representing pagan Rome, when he tried to kill Jesus at birth.
Beast means a nation or a kingdom and can refer to the head of a state. For instance, Daniel 7:23 says, “the fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom.” This was prophesied before pagan Rome became the fourth and last kingdom to gain singular world dominance. Verse 17 of the same chapter says, “These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.”
Earth represents a wilderness or non-populated region. Revelation 13:11 mentions a beast (or nation) “coming up out of the earth.” This nation was born or established in a non-populated region. History records America arising up out of an obscure region of the then-known world. It was established on two principles, which have been the secret of its power: republicanism and Protestantism. In another sense this is civil and religious freedom. In a republic, the people are sovereign, not a king. It is not a monarchy. In Protestantism, the Bible is the ultimate rule of law and truth, not the pope of the Roman Catholic Church.
Clay represents the church or house of Israel as in Jeremiah 18:5-6. That was good clay; it can be molded by the potter. But in Daniel 2:43, referring to the prophetic dream of King Nebuchanezzar, miry clay was mixed with the iron in the feet of the image. Miry clay is not clay that can be molded in the hands of the potter or God. After Rome, various nations and kings strive for world power and singular dominance. But they share power with miry clay. They mix, but not permanently. They won’t firmly mix, as iron can’t firmly mix with clay. Their attempts, which bring persecution, won’t be successful in the end, says Pastor Flemons. In this time period, Jesus will come and set up an everlasting kingdom. Verse 44 says, “And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.”
A woman in the Bible also refers to the church. In Revelation 12:3-5 a scene describes a woman that brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations and was caught up unto God, and to his throne. This describes the church and Jesus, who was sought after by the Roman King Herod to be killed as soon as Jesus was born. A whore, then by default, is a corrupt church.
Water or a sea, according to Revelation 17:15 and Revelation 13:1, represents peoples, multitudes, and nations, and tongues. It says these “waters which thou sawest” is “where the whore sitteth.” It refers to the place of the whore or corrupt church.
In time prophecies, like Numbers 14:34 and Ezekiel 4:6, one day equals one year. Genesis 29:27 and Daniel 9:27 speak of a one week period (or seven days) that equals seven years. Daniel 7:25, Revelation 11:2-3; and Revelation 13:5 all refer to the same 42-month period, which equals 1260 years (42 x 30 = 1260) in what is now identifiable in church and world history. It has been referred to as the Dark Ages of church history.
Understanding these symbols, Pastor Flemons interpreted and discussed portions of Revelation 13 as background for the next discussion of current events. Verse 2 tells of the dragon (pagan Rome) giving a beast (or nation) its power, seat or throne, and great authority. History records the pagan Roman Emperor Justinian, also called the last Roman, as bestowing on papal Rome its power, seat, and authority by elevating the Bishop of Rome over all churches. Violators of the law would suffer severe punishment per the Justinian Code (available online at biblelight.net/jus-code.htm). It is also in chapter 13 of Revelation that America in prophecy, as well as its influence and events of the last days, is revealed.
With the Roman Catholic Church once again in supreme power, with the help of America, Sunday sacredness, as opposed to the Bible Sabbath, will be legislated. People will be forced to worship, not according to their conscience but according to the law of the land. To yield or not to yield on penalty of death is the final test.
For Health’s Sake…
“As we approach the close of this earth’s history, selfishness and violence and crime prevail as in the days of Noah, when the old world perished in the waters of the Flood. As Bible believers, we need to take our position for righteousness and truth.CH 505.2
“As religious aggression subverts the liberties of our nation, those who would stand for freedom of conscience will be placed in unfavorable positions. For their own sake, they should, while they have opportunity, become intelligent in regard to disease, its causes, prevention, and cure. And those who do this will find a field of labor anywhere. There will be suffering ones, plenty of them, who will need help, not only among those of our own faith, but largely among those who know not the truth.CH 506.2″ (Ellen G. White, Counsels on Health, pp 505-506.2)
We need to understand diseases and their natural cures, because one day soon we will become the new minority under an administration like the current one. The Bible promises it. As basic freedoms are lost, the health of the nation will be further affected. “Satan has to be allowed to show his fury and bring us to the final test before Jesus comes,” says Pastor Flemons. The health of the nation, even the health of the world, will be at stake. It is of the utmost importance to know how to help yourself and others.
