Words of Encouragement

2 Corinthians 1:4  Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

1 John 5:3-4  For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

For Heaven’s Sake…

The same multitudes who desired to exalt Him turned against Him. Their love turned to hatred. Their praise turned to curses. They didn’t understand Him. Nor did they understand the spiritual lesson in the miracle of the loaves. Its impact was lost, because they believed that Moses had fed heavenly manna to the multitudes in the wilderness for forty years. By comparison, what was one meal for five thousand men, plus women and children?

Nevertheless, the miracle was reported near and far. Multitudes flocked from all points to be healed, believing also they would be temporally prosperous. They were ready to do what He asked to merit His favor–the favor of the “next king.” They followed Him closely. They wanted to know what they could do to earn heaven. But Jesus only asked that they believe on Him. That was the work of God–that they believe.

“Every false religion,” says Pastor Flemons, “involves righteousness by works.” They needed to do something they could be proud of. Believing in the carpenter’s son who said that He came down from heaven was hard work for the hearers. There wasn’t enough pride in that for them.

“‘Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me hath everlasting life.’ . . .  ‘This is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life.’ 1 John 5:11, 12. And Jesus said, ‘I will raise him up at the last day.’ . . . Those who see Christ in His true character, and receive Him into the heart, have everlasting life. It is through the Spirit that Christ dwells in us; and the Spirit of God, received into the heart by faith, is the beginning of the life eternal. DA 388.1

“The people had referred Christ to the manna which their fathers ate in the wilderness, as if the furnishing of that food was a greater miracle than Jesus had performed; but He shows how meager was that gift when compared with the blessings He had come to bestow. The manna could sustain only this earthly existence; it did not prevent the approach of death, nor insure immortality; but the bread of heaven would nourish the soul unto everlasting life. The Saviour said, ‘I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever.’ To this figure Christ now adds another. Only through dying could He impart life to men, and in the words that follow He points to His death as the means of salvation. He says, ‘The bread that I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.’ DA 388.2

“Now the rabbis exclaimed angrily, ‘How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?’ They affected to understand His words in the same literal sense as did Nicodemus when he asked, ‘How can a man be born when he is old?’ John 3:4. To some extent they comprehended the meaning of Jesus, but they were not willing to acknowledge it. By misconstruing His words, they hoped to prejudice the people against Him. DA 389.1

“To eat the flesh and drink the blood of Christ is to receive Him as a personal Saviour, believing that He forgives our sins, and that we are complete in Him. It is by beholding His love, by dwelling upon it, by drinking it in, that we are to become partakers of His nature. What food is to the body, Christ must be to the soul. Food cannot benefit us unless we eat it, unless it becomes a part of our being. So Christ is of no value to us if we do not know Him as a personal Saviour. A theoretical knowledge will do us no good. We must feed upon Him, receive Him into the heart, so that His life becomes our life. His love, His grace, must be assimilated. DA 389.3

“The test was too great. The enthusiasm of those who had sought to take Him by force and make Him king grew cold. This discourse in the synagogue, they declared, had opened their eyes. Now they were undeceived. In their minds His words were a direct confession that He was not the Messiah, and that no earthly rewards were to be realized from connection with Him. They had welcomed His miracle-working power; they were eager to be freed from disease and suffering; but they would not come into sympathy with His self-sacrificing life. They cared not for the mysterious spiritual kingdom of which He spoke. The insincere, the selfish, who had sought Him, no longer desired Him. If He would not devote His power and influence to obtaining their freedom from the Romans, they would have nothing to do with Him.” DA 391.3

For Health’s Sake. . .

In many cases, Pastor Flemons agrees with the article but for different reasons. And he does not believe in double-blind studies as done. They are used to show the benefit of toxic drugs. Empirical data based on solid science is valuable. Solid science is not only verifiable but biblical, or at least does not conflict with the Bible. The value of actual experience is not to be discounted. And if the effect of a treatment is successful, why do a double-blind study, knowing people will not be helped–knowing they could die? It makes no sense. It defies logic.

The double-blind study is to be left alone and avoided, according to Matthew 15:14 and 1 Timothy 6:20. It is like the blind leading the blind into a ditch. It is science falsely so-called. Too often so-called great drugs promoted after double-blind studies are found years later to be dangerous to life and health. Only after many derailed lives and needless lost lives, the truth then leads to class-action litigation, on which attorneys thrive after drug companies have already made off with the lion’s portion. No one else wins.

With God, however, everyone wins. God’s plan works. Biblical wellness does not take long to achieve. Only recently, Marjorie, a military lifer was released for health reasons. Her body was shutting down. She had been in military health care for more than twenty years. Within ten days under the coaching of Times of Refreshing’s director, Pastor Shelem Flemons, Marjorie no longer has symptoms of diabetes. Her blood sugar readings are healthier than she has ever seen. Her migraines are gone after only four days on the TOR program. We could go on about the turnarounds in her health. It’s better she tell her own story; and she does–here. Scroll to the bottom to view the FaceBook video. She looks and feels great. No double-blind study is required to know that here is another life saved.

“It is possible to have supernatural results when using the means of nature in accordance with God’s providence. We desire miracles, but the Lord directs men to simple remedies.” (2SM 346.4) Employing the simple natural methods God has given to humanity to regain and maintain health can and does yield supernatural results. We have seen it happen over and over again through the years. Says Pastor Flemons, “Because something sounds incredible, doesn’t mean it’s not credible.”
