Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  “Don’t worry about what’s happening right now. God never gives us more than we can handle,” says Pastor Flemons. “All things will work out in the end. If it’s not worked out yet, it’s just not the end.” God is working out His will in us. And when within us His will is perfected, that will be the end. And there will be eternal peace and abundant joy. (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, interviewed Joi who gave her experience with the What the Health Juice Feast Group in Indianapolis. But first he quickly reviewed an article about the health benefits of alcohol, stating that there are none. While alcohol may cause you to feel less stressful, trusting in God will do that–and safely. “There is nothing in alcohol that will ward off diabetes,” he says. Now back to the interview. Words of Encouragement

James 1:4  But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Matthew 5:48  Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

For Heaven’s Sake…

“Christ rejoiced that He could do more for His followers than they could ask or think. He spoke with assurance, knowing that an almighty decree had been given before the world was made. He knew that truth, armed with the omnipotence of the Holy Spirit, would conquer in the contest with evil; and that the bloodstained banner would wave triumphantly over His followers. He knew that the life of His trusting disciples would be like His, a series of uninterrupted victories, not seen to be such here, but recognized as such in the great hereafter. DA 679.2

“‘These things I have spoken unto you,’ He said, ‘that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.’ Christ did not fail, neither was He discouraged, and His followers are to manifest a faith of the same enduring nature. They are to live as He lived, and work as He worked, because they depend on Him as the great Master Worker. Courage, energy, and perseverance they must possess. Though apparent impossibilities obstruct their way, by His grace they are to go forward. Instead of deploring difficulties, they are called upon to surmount them. They are to despair of nothing, and to hope for everything. With the golden chain of His matchless love Christ has bound them to the throne of God. It is His purpose that the highest influence in the universe, emanating from the source of all power, shall be theirs. They are to have power to resist evil, power that neither earth, nor death, nor hell can master, power that will enable them to overcome as Christ overcame. DA 679.3

“Christ designs that heaven’s order, heaven’s plan of government, heaven’s divine harmony, shall be represented in His church on earth. Thus in His people He is glorified. Through them the Sun of Righteousness will shine in undimmed luster to the world. Christ has given to His church ample facilities, that He may receive a large revenue of glory from His redeemed, purchased possession. He has bestowed upon His people capabilities and blessings that they may represent His own sufficiency. The church, endowed with the righteousness of Christ, is His depositary, in which the riches of His mercy, His grace, and His love, are to appear in full and final display. Christ looks upon His people in their purity and perfection, as the reward of His humiliation, and the supplement of His glory,–Christ, the great Center, from whom radiates all glory. DA 680.1

“With strong, hopeful words the Saviour ended His instruction. Then He poured out the burden of His soul in prayer for His disciples. Lifting His eyes to heaven, He said, ‘Father, the hour is come; glorify Thy Son, that Thy Son also may glorify Thee: as Thou hast given Him power over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as Thou hast given Him. And this is life eternal, that they might know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent.’ DA 680.2

“Christ had finished the work that was given Him to do. He had glorified God on the earth. He had manifested the Father’s name. He had gathered out those who were to continue His work among men. And He said, ‘I am glorified in them. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to Thee. Holy Father, keep through Thine own name those whom Thou hast given Me, that they may be one, as We are.’ ‘Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on Me through their word; that they all may be one; . . . I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that Thou hast sent Me, and hast loved them, as Thou hast loved Me.’ DA 680.3”

(This study is based on John 13:31-38; John 14; John 15; John 16; John 17; and chapter 72, “Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled” in The Desire of Ages (DA), by Ellen G. White.)

For Health’s Sake…

Joi said she loves all kinds of foods. So she really wasn’t that interested in hearing all the not-so-good things about the different foods. That said, she couldn’t have been remotely interested in going totally plant-based in her diet for any period of time. But she began having stomach issues. Her energy was waning. She noticed that she began to struggle a bit to ascend flights of stairs. She would get winded. She became concerned. “I wanted to feel better,” she said.

She decided to get with another coworker and do a 3-day detox. Then she sought help from her mentor, Carlene Archie, who was a health guest at and who now partners with Times of Refreshing Wellness Ministry in spreading biblical wellness. That’s when the 3-day detox became a 14-day juice feast journey, not only for Joi and her friend but for a group that has grown to 23 members, according to Carlene during her testimony. Because they jump-started their juice feast journey with an afternoon movie party by watching the documentary “What the Health,” that is how they are affectionately known.

Carlene suggests, however, beginning with a brunch movie party. The Indianapolis group began at 3 p.m., with plans for only a 3-hour session. It turned into a 12-hour community effort. Together, they washed and prepared all the vegetables, plus the ginger, lemons and apples necessary for juicing. They had three juicers going on at the same time. They made all the herbal teas for internal cleansing and the coffees for enemas and divided them, using Mason jars. They shared tonics and bulk tea, using zip-lock bags. In the middle of the night, one woman returned home 20 minutes away and returned with quality bottles filled with alkalinized water for everyone.

Joi, who had never even fasted before, says she’s “grateful for the journey.” She added, “This is a test of faith. We are still working. We work for a nonprofit, so we grind.” Now on Day 6, Joi told of her ups and downs since the first day. Lunch periods have been her most challenging, it seems. Those are the times of the day she is accustomed to “chewing, not drinking,” her lunch. When she did an enema, followed up with a cleansing tonic formulated by Times of Refreshing, she said she “felt amazing.” Pastor Flemons explained. Toxins are being flushed out. Disease is leaving her body. She is “adding years” to her life. Now that is amazing.
